The store has some unique and worthwhile items on the store shelves - including 12 packs of Tab (which preceded Diet Coke) and frozen Gino's East pizzas from Chicago! The only room for improvement I know of would be a self service check-out, new grocery carts to replace the ones that are bent up and perhaps a little more care and tending to the lawns in the summer - unless you love clover.

Some of our favorites are -- * Angus roast beef - for cold and hot roast beef sandwiches -- far better than packaged deli meat from the other sections of other stores * best fried chicken we have had in the state of Wisconsin * my spouse is diabetic, so we go to the lower carb/calorie end of the deli salads --and our favorites are broccoli bacon salad, cowboy caviar (corn, green peppers, red peppers and some black beans in a light vinaigrette, They have an excellent selection of groceries and a very nice produce and in store bakery. Of the stores in Menomonie, we think their beef is of the highest quality. We really like them-- I have been trying to get them to do a local food fair and a ad spread to support it . Wisconsin has wonderful artisan cheese makers and several are very near Menomonie -- Eau Galle Cheese-- but the store doesn't carry them. Area apples and produce are incredible -- So to get my fifth star -- Marketplace needs to host a local food fair--in the store -- and show off and stock our wonderful local food producers -- I don't have a dog in this fight --- just want the local producers and store to bond -- i.e.just trying to get up the date -- but I hope they eventually marry.

The hash browns were good. The egged were good. The gravy was good . The biscuits could have been good but they were overcooked, dark brown and crusty on the outside. The coffee is self served and they were out of decaf. The people were friendly and helpful otherwise they might have gotten one less star. This is our first time here but I'm impressed. It is a step below Byerlys bit several steps above all the other grocery shopping options.

We were led into the back room where the largest hawg I have ever seen ready for the smoker dwarfed the cart it road upon I saw the tag on the ear which read #273. We were all impressed at the size and quality of the beast and I was able to help feed a wedding celebration with the most glorious smoked hawg of my life. My grandmother often said, the praise goes to the butcher. Anyone who uses Brother's will understand that statement. When I read the latest list that touted Butcher's in the Twin Cities, I was disappointed that Brother's was not listed.

Unlike some Aldi stores, this one has a wide open entry minimizing congestion and allowing you to go to whatever aisle you need instead of being forced down the first aisle. If you are not familiar with Aldi, there are a few quirky things... - if you want a cart, it costs a quarter which you get back upon returning the cart. This is great in that there are not carts randomly sitting around the parking lot. - paper bags cost $.15 each so remember your own bags - they don't have everything like a large grocery store...but they tend to have the essentials. The Aldi store brand is great for canned goods, snacks, and crackers. - they have a constantly changing variety of "aldi finds" which range from a name brand product at a steep discount to seasonal housewares.

I know they'll have it. They also have free kids cookies, so it makes bringing the two girls a breeze. Get a free cookie and apple, let them munch, and I'm shopping. I can't believe more places don't offer this. Shelves are always stocked, I see staff everywhere helping out, and the checkout folks are so kind and courteous. They even give the kiddos stickers. Store is clean and carts are always available.
