It is so HOT in here if you attend an event other than a game. Zero air circulation on a 85° day and thousands of people.

If you park on campus, be prepared to wait in the lots as long as you were in the events center. Nightmare.

Awful parking. Long lines for tickets. No atmosphere unless the place is sold out. Poor food choices at concession stands.

I attended the John Summit headline show here and truthfully, I was skeptical coming into it and…read moredid not have high hopes. The venue exceeded my expectations. Staff was helpful and kind, despite the chaotic environment. We arrived at 8pm (doors were at 5:30 and John Summit's set started at 9pm) so there were zero lines to get in. My purse was slightly larger than the guidelines but they didn't care, they just did a quick search. Some cons: It was a packed show so lines for the restroom and drinks were extremely long. The restrooms were pretty gross and there was no toilet paper in most stalls. It took forever to get drinks so we got two to bring down into the pit, but they have to open them when they sell them, which meant it was tough to carry through the crowd and I ended up with High Noon all over my jacket lol. We were on field-level so thankfully we didn't deal wit this directly but the bleachers sections looks SCARY, people were standing on the bleachers themselves (the metal) instead of the concrete floor and we saw someone literally fall off the bleacher. Some pros: They had a beer guy walking through the pit between sets so that was kinda nice! I wish I had skipped the line on the concourse and just bought from him lol. Sound quality and production was amazing. I was expecting a bad crowd for a John Summit show on a college campus but our area (center, just in front of the sound booth) was very PLUR and mostly older 20s attendees around our age. Egress was a little tricky coming off the field, but once you were in the stands it was easy going and quick to exit.

I've seen two concerts at Folsom field now and both were great in terms of sound, food, and…read morebeverage options. My biggest gripe with shows here is the parking, it's very expensive ($40) and not exactly convenient or close to the stadium. Last show, we opted for the flat iron club tickets and it was worth the extra few bucks. The bathrooms were very close by, the chairs had backs, and it wasn't cramped packed. I would def return for future concerts here!

It's a sham to call yourself an art gallery, these guys are rip off artists. This is not something that happens by mistake. A print shop KNOWS whether they have an artists consent (and contract) to reproduce their work. Poster Scene can pretend to be about art but what they are really about is stealing from the artists who are trying to make a humble living for themselves. Reproducing an image that an artist has created and may be doing a limited run of not only devalues the artists work, but it takes important buyers away from the creator who really depends on making every dollar they possibly can for their creations. Sadly a lot of people have messaged me to let me know they bought "my poster." These people are fans of MY work and thinking they are doing something to support and appreciate me, when the unfortunate truth is they are contributing to shady lowlifes who have no respect for what goes into making a living in the arts. I don't fault anyone who goes and buys a piece of illegally reproduced art but if you are a fan of art- the safe bet is always to buy DIRECTLY from the creator (artist or band) that you want to support. Lotsa fake middlemen out there!

This was my 6th year attending BIFF. This is a film festival that focuses on the quality of the…read morefilms, and they always have some great ones. They have a program called "Call to Action," where if a film moves the audience, the audience can get moving towards helping the cause by learning more by speaking in depth with the film makers or subjects in an close by location. You can meet some really interesting people there. There's also a free program for kids at the library, including how to make your own films. The CU @ BIFF program runs simultaneously, offering select films to students. I like the Filmmakers Lounge at the Lazy Dog for a local beer at 5, and the BAD party on Saturday night at the Oddfellows Hall. Quirky location, great band, fun crowd, Suerte tequila. Walking distance. Good times. We stayed at the Boulderado, and ate at Shine as much as we could stand. Lucille's is a great place for breakfast, and cheap lunches at Illegal Petes or the Lazy Dog Saloon. Falafel King did a brisk business too. Dress in layers because you are going to stand in line, and it gets windy and cold. Bring water and snacks because you can eat in line and/or take food into the venues (etown and boulder theater only). The best venue for movies is at the high school, which boasts an art deco theater updated with great sound and projection. Parking sucks all the way around. The garage at 15th and Walnut or the one at Spruce and Broadway are both pretty close, but will fill up before day's end. This year the festival had actors doing tidbits of Shakespeare comedies for the people waiting in lines, and a flash mob by 1 billion rising, and local musicians playing before some of the films. They organized a Global Town Hall around the film "God Loves Uganda." They had a sold out fund raiser called a "foovie," with food and a movie with a french theme (and chocolates!). They had a thing where you could win a pair of $10,000 earrings, and a local third grade teacher won them. That was a pretty sweet moment. Next year I'm buying all eTown tix. That's a sweet little theater, and all the best films get second showings there. I would highly recommend this festival. It's laid back and forward thinking, free flowing and well organized. I give it five stars.

When I tried to get clarification of where to stand because I was standing behind the sign for the movie I was here to see while a line was developing for another movie. When I heard people saying we were all here to see the same movie I went to staff to let them know there was a lot of confusion. Not only did I get ignored but then when I asked them to move the sign to make it more clear I was told that wasn't his job. So frustrating. The films on the other hand get 6 5/5 stars. They have all been excellent!

The also have an annex for maker space and events a few doors further west. Today they had a fundraiser and art display in honor and celebration of International Women's Day. When I saw the announcement that the Handweaver's Guild of Boulder would be in the Annex demonstrating the weaving process and set up for patrons of all ages but especially children to try it out, I knew I had to go. In my younger years, I had been a member of this Guild and had done a demonstration with a group of weavers at the Denver Stock Show in 1975. I was hoping to hear what the Guild is doing now and hopefully run into someone from that era that is still active. And indeed I did. It's amazing work they do and the Gallery in the main building displays weaving as well as so many other arts. Paintings, drawings, jewelry, pottery, fabric designs, handmade cards, all sorts of art objects are to be seen and purchased . It's a very nice space and was very well attended on this holiday on a beautiful spring day. But nice stop in to the gallery anytime and look into the programs they run in the Annex. It's easy to find and there is street parking in the area and a bus stop 2 blocks away. And eateries in the area too.
