Ctrl Z Coffee is a masculine hip hop meets Filipino sanctuary. With notes of incense burning in the middle of the cafe, local newspapers stashed on the window ledge, and car parts hung up to be admired, it's a total vibe for my Y2K groupies.

Pandan latte. So good! Did not have to ask for less sugar as I usually would at coffee shops. Taste the Ube latte too and it was good. I would order both in the future.

I'm so happy that theyr3 finally open! Use been monitoring the remodeling process in hope of trying them ASAP. Cutely decorated in a small but cozy space. Today I got to try it after my morning jog and I for the ube iced latte, it was one of the most delicious ube iced latte I've try. It doesn't have a strong syrup flavor like most coffee shop has. And it even have a roasted hint. The coffee was perfect pick me up! Can't wait to try the others!

The barista here made me so uncomfortable that I decided not to even get coffee. Like insanely unfriendly - to us anyway.

We went here on a Thursday at ~11am and waited about 20 minutes to get dine-in seating. The staff members were all very welcoming, despite the amount of people they had to serve. If you are dining in, you must order all of your items in the front before being seated. Be sure to order everything you want, because the pastries might be gone by the time you want to take any to-go! The food was immaculate. The breakfast sandwich tasted like home, and the egg just melted right inside our mouths. The Ube and Coconut "Ensaymada" was another favorite. My partner and I enjoyed every single bite of it, and regretted that we did not get a second one! We weren't too much of a fan for the Black Truffle Croissant, but maybe because we aren't totally into the cheese-inside-croissant type of food. Though, it is a popular pastry, so definitely worth the try! Oh, Hot Yam! was another fan favorite (and honestly ours too) for drinks. The latte was not too sweet, and you could still taste the ube essence with hints of espresso Seating wise, there were limited booth-type of seats. We sat at the bar, but the limited seating explains why there is always a line. Very cute restaurant, and def aesthetically pleasing. We will definitely visit again, and maybe even try the tasting menu for dinner!

Highly recommend getting the $30 prix fixe menu (reasonably priced) and ordering one more dish from the menu for two people. We left feeling very full and satisfied if you're super hungry. Love the decor inside and very tropical with its palm leaves wallpaper. Latin music gives an upbeat atmosphere. There are two locations for Bayan Ko. I arrived with my family and there is a sign at the entrance instructing guests to "please wait to be seated." Unfortunately, there was no host or hostess present at the front, so we stood waiting and tried to get the attention of the only visible staff member in the restaurant. He appeared to be working alone behind the bar counter and didn't notice us right away. This already created a slightly disorganized first impression. If a restaurant is going to require guests to wait to be seated, there really should be someone assigned to the front to greet and seat customers..... Once seated, the same gentleman brought us menus, but it took quite a while for him to come back and take our orders because he was handling multiple roles at once--taking orders, preparing drinks at the bar, and bringing out food. It honestly felt like he was doing the job of several people, which is not fair to him or the customers. On to the food: as someone who is Latina and familiar with both Cuban and Filipino cuisine (through family and community), I was surprised by the execution. Appetizers were served in very small portions-- only two or four pieces per order--such as the lumpia, which felt overpriced for measely two pieces. The pricing overall felt quite high for the portion sizes even with 4... Flavor-wise, the food leaned heavily toward a more Americanized interpretation. The ropa vieja lacked depth and seasoning compared to what I'm accustomed to, and the pancit bihon tasted closer to a salty chow mein-style stir fry rather than the traditional dish...even the noodles used were very different It didn't reflect the authentic balance of flavors associated with Filipino cuisine... Overall, while I appreciate the concept and understand the challenges of running a restaurant, the execution felt inconsistent. Between staffing limitations, high prices, and food that didn't fully reflect the authenticity of either cuisine, the experience fell short for me and my family.

Dark moody lighting with warm colored lamps really sets the tone for the meal you are about to eat. Service was incredibly kind and attentive. Everyone's so lovely. The food is exactly what you'd expect - elevated Filipino and overall INCREDIBLE. Here's what we got/my thoughts. Coco ginger daiquiri - 5/5 - really refreshing. You could taste each component of the drink which was fun to experience. Sisig - 4/5 - I'll start by saying I'm really particular about my sisig. For sisig to be a 5 for me, it *has* to be crunchy. And that's the only thing this sisig was missing. For coming out on a sizzling plate, it was a little too wet, even after the sizzling. Despite this though, the flavors were there and they were delicious. Garlic rice - 5/5 - best garlic rice I've ever had in my life. Just get it. That's all I have to say. Pancit canton - 4/5 - if I'm being honest, it's hard to really elevate pancit canton. But this was a good attempt, it just seemed to be missing something to put it over the top. Really appreciated the fresh vegetables with the noodles. Lumpia - 5/5 - like pancit canton, it seems hard to elevate lumpia but they freaking did it. This was so good. The filling was nice and juicy and had great flavor. Kare Kare - 5/5 - Kare Kare was my favorite dish growing up but I've never experienced it elevated to such a high level until boonies. The meat was so tender, cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The vegetables being carmelized was also quite the treat. Didn't realize until after the fact that the sauce isn't made with peanuts, so huge plus that gives our peanut allergic friends the opportunity to experience such an amazing dish. So well done.

To start, we ordered some lumpia's ($6) which I feel like is a must at a Filipino restaurant. They were delicious and a good way to start the meal. We ordered the Sizzling Sisig ($18) and Tortang Talong ($28) as our entrees. We got a bowl of garlic fried rice which is an extra dollar instead of regular white rice. We were surprised that the Sisig was a little sweet. We were hoping it would taste a little more savory. For the garlic fried rice, we also wanted it be more garlicky. We didn't really taste much garlic. For the Tortang Talong, we didn't know what to expect but we didn't care too much for it. It's a unique dish but we thought that it was on the sweeter end than savory. For the dessert, we ordered the mango float ($11) which we loved. It was a great way to end the night. The syrup was delicious and had a good mix of the crunch with the biscoff and softness of the ice cream. Overall, we were glad we tried it, but it wouldn't be my go to for Filipino food.

We ordered the chicken eggrolls and two orders of the chicken adobo. All of our food came out very fast, and we had very attentive service. March Madness is currently going on and was playing in the restaurant. We are basketball fans so this was a plus, and we were asked if the game that was currently on was our preferred game to watch, which was very thoughtful. The food was incredible. The eggrolls were incredibly flavorful and the chicken in the chicken adobo fell off the bone easily. The sauce on the chicken was delicious and it mixed so well with the garlic rice. We cannot wait to bring friends and family to this restaurant in the future. The hot food made us feel so whole on a cold and extremely windy day. The mussels had a funny taste and the shrimp tasted of metal. The dish was overpowered with a mountain of noodles. I did ask for less noodles when I ordered the meal and got told everything was prepacked before cooking which should have rung alarm bells but I really wanted something fairly authentic: I should have gotten the burger. Service was fine but very sporadic and after the main dishes were served no one came to check everything was ok until we were done and they were cleaning away the plates.
