Whenever I have to go somewhere by train, I walk through the hail of bullets and mobs of skanks to the Kedzie Brown Line station. I never fear for my life or safety because I have superpowers. I am surrounded by a perpetual forcefield which keeps the shrapnel and riffraff away (it also keeps me from feeling the touch of another living soul, but that's another story). I could easily teleport into the heart of the Loop, but doing so would blow my supersecret identity, so I pay my fare and wait for the train like a specimen of the garden variety homo sapiens that seem to rule this planet. As I wait for the train, I enjoy staring at my fellow commuters. None of them notice me because I am invisible when I choose to be. I notice more and more nice, genteel folks nursing Starbucks and zoning out to their iPods as they wait for the train. Despite being garden variety homo sapiens without superpowers, they have survived the flurry of switchblades and gunfire. Why have they come here, I wonder? Do they not know how treacherous it is in Albany Park? That, for every afforable apartment and amazing amenity they enjoy here, they could pay the ultimate price of being accosted by an alien? I admire them for venturing into this vile corner of Chicago, frail and vulnerable as they are. I am momentarily annoyed that the CTA attendants do not offer to powder my ass or peel me a grape. Oh wait, I'm thinking of public transit on Uranus. They do not offer such services here on Earth. 40 minutes later, my fellow commuters and I step off the train and into the Loop.

CTA - Addison [Brown] - The elevator at this stage was very clean smelled like purple Fabulosa. I don't know what scent that is, but it's purple.

The neighborhood has a suburban feel which is nice-there is a small Japanese-Thai Restaurant to the right after exiting the station. It has outdoor seating-it is called Yindee. The Platform and Trains- The Addison Station is extremely clean-there are even recycling bins on both sides of the platforms. Furthermore the layout of the interior of the Brown Line CTA train cars provide "individuals" with "individual seating" options instead of being squished in-between people on the Red Line.

The day after the anticipated opening, I made a special trip here to absorb the wonderful newness and freshness that's so foreign to the CTA. Mind you, the special trip did not qualify as a day's trip, as I live only two blocks away. I'm not that big of a dork to travel any further for this. ;) For the first time in my life, I was not afraid to touch the door handles in order to enter the station, as they were new and shiny as opposed to the familiar rusty ones that are covered in muck and germs. Out of habit, I expected to smell stale piss as I entered the station, but, to my surprise, the station had the "new smell" of concrete and paint. Ah, what grandness! I was loving every minute of it! As soon as I arrived to the platform, the train was just pulling up. On any other day, I would've been thrilled, but on that particular day, I was disappointed as I wanted to explore the platform. Yeaaaaah, you don't need to say it. I'm a dork. On a later date, I was able to look around the platform. It's a lot bigger than it was before, and everything is brand new, except the stairs. That was kind of odd. The trains seem to run faster now, but it's probably because I enjoy being at the station so much that I don't mind waiting for a while as much as I did before when the station was still a disgusting mucky mess. Thanks, CTA!

Pretty safe for the most part. Has a classic feel but it's modern and clean. There's also an area under the tracks to hang out. As far as stations, this is one of the best. It serves the Brown Line. This is overall a pretty interesting station. Be sure to pronounce it correctly. It's actually said like "Pah-LY-nuh." This is one of the coolest visually. In the station it has an old style of charm. There's the classic mosaic tiles. Outside the station is even more to enjoy. The main entrance is bigger, but across the street there's another entrance plus a cool little area to sit and relax. Has a ton of cool restaurants around here such as MK Noodle, and too many to name all. It's overall clean and safe. The bad thing is there's usually kind of a wait for a train.

I recommend a walk from here south on Lincoln, then jog over to see Halsted and/or DePaul University, and then to go get a deep dish pizza by at Pequod's, having burned off some calories in advance lol. There is also a Lou Malnati's in that stretch of Lincoln, which is not a bad choice for a deep dish pizza either (LM's have a few locations throughout Chicago, while Pequod's has only the one, so I tend to go there when in this area.)

The first time I visited was for an Elle Kennedy author meet-and-greet, and the second was for an authorless release party for her new book, Love Song. Both events were so thoughtfully put together and created such a fun and welcoming environment for readers. You can tell right away that this is a bookstore that really cares about its community. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely excited about books, which makes the whole experience feel even more special. They made everything run smoothly during both events while still keeping things relaxed and enjoyable, which is not always easy with bigger crowds. One of my favorite parts is how unique the store is. They have adorable selfie rooms that make it so fun to take pictures while you are there, and they sell the cutest stickers along with a ton of book accessories. It feels like more than just a bookstore; it is an experience. What really stands out to me is how worth it this place is, even if you have to go out of your way to get there. It is completely worth the drive. Both times I have gone, I have left feeling so happy I made the trip. There is just something about being surrounded by people who love reading as much as you do that makes it such a good experience. If you are into romance books, looking for your next good read, or even just want a cozy bookstore with a great atmosphere, I cannot recommend this place enough. They also host such fun events, which makes every visit feel a little different and exciting. I have loved every visit so far and already cannot wait for the next time I get to go back.

It also has plenty of room and cute photo areas. The smell was kind of off when we visited it but other than that I would def come back

Turns out the jewelry I'd originally been given wasn't appropriate for an initial piercing. The woman at the front desk was kind and took the time to walk me through my options for new jewelry and proper aftercare. I explained what I had been doing to care for it, and she very kindly told me "nope, don't do any of that" which I appreciated. I'm sorry I didn't catch her name, but she was great. Itzel then took me to the back and changed out my jewelry for me, offering more advice and making the whole process feel very comfortable and easy. By Sunday, the irritation bump has already flattened and calmed down significantly. I also picked up new jewelry for my established nose ring, which Itzel changed for me as well, plus the new jewelry for the irritated side, all for just under $100, which felt very reasonable. I was in and out quickly, and the care I received made a huge difference. Thank you all so much!
