I have been to The Last Chapter Chicago twice now, and both experiences have been so amazing that I already know I will keep coming back. The first time I visited was for an Elle Kennedy author meet-and-greet, and the second was for an authorless release party for her new book, Love Song. Both events were so thoughtfully put together and created such a fun and welcoming environment for readers. You can tell right away that this is a bookstore that really cares about its community. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely excited about books, which makes the whole experience feel even more special. They made everything run smoothly during both events while still keeping things relaxed and enjoyable, which is not always easy with bigger crowds. One of my favorite parts is how unique the store is. They have adorable selfie rooms that make it so fun to take pictures while you are there, and they sell the cutest stickers along with a ton of book accessories. It feels like more than just a bookstore; it is an experience. What really stands out to me is how worth it this place is, even if you have to go out of your way to get there. It is completely worth the drive. Both times I have gone, I have left feeling so happy I made the trip. There is just something about being surrounded by people who love reading as much as you do that makes it such a good experience. If you are into romance books, looking for your next good read, or even just want a cozy bookstore with a great atmosphere, I cannot recommend this place enough. I love that this a romance only book store. I also like that it has a variety of traditional published books as well as selections from indie authors too. It does have a section for BIPOC authors as well. The one thing that made it hard for me to choose was for some selection, the wouldn't have the whole series but the 3rd or 2nd book from a series. It also has plenty of room and cute photo areas. The smell was kind of off when we visited it but other than that I would def come back read more

Charming little Romance-only bookstore in Roscoe Village! For anyone who thinks everyone is reading romances as ebooks these days, there were quite a few people in here! Genres included Sports, LGBTQ, Dark, Fantasy and Contemporary. There was also an area with signed copies. Don't miss the booths for selfie taking! read more

This is one of my top favorite local bookstores. I was fortunate to find this place through a local book club social. I am in love! I love the fact they have book signing events highlight local artists. They even have holiday themed and yoga events. I am hoping they will have something cool for Christmas. Either way I plan to attend another event I have already purchased my tickets. Once I finished my two books I just purchased I definitely will be back to purchase more. read more

This romance focused bookshop has been on my bucket list for months! Located in Roscoe Village, it's about a 40 min train ride from central Chicago (via the Brown line). If you're a romance book lover, this shop is not to be missed! Their selection is extensive including sections for contemporary, dark, sports, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, etc. Plus, they also sell adorable bookish merch (apparel, tote bags, stickers, bookish candles, bookmarks, etc.) I love that they sell smaller, indie authors you can't find at chain bookstores like B&N and are always stocking new releases. Roscoe Village is such a lovely neighborhood to walk around, and the staff at TLC were so nice. Needless to say, it would be very dangerous indeed if I lived nearby! As an avid romance reader, and someone who has been a follower of the Last Chapter on IG, when I heard that they were opening up a romance book shop an hour away I was geeked! I have keeping up with sneak peaks, and when grand opening finally happened I was so excited. I dropped by first thing Saturday morning and there was a pretty steady amount of gals shopping around already. So I followed the crowd, geeking out over the different Photo Booth options, and the merch. There were a few pieces I loved online and was hoping to catch in store but I'm sure with the huge grand opening the week before they were low on stock, which is totally okay because if they had it all I may or may not have left with it all. I started shopping around. With booktok happening, I owned a good amount of the books towards the front of the store, but discovered tons of new ones that I had never heard of before and now have on my tbr list. I love supporting local bookstores if I'm able to! So shopping here was so much fun. I was hoping to see more books on the shelves as it was pretty sparse but I know they've been crazy busy so I'm sure a lot of it got bought! I stumbled onto this bookstore when I was in Roscoe Village a couple weeks ago. They were not yet open so when I was in the neighborhood today I popped in for a few minutes. I did drive by on their opening day and the line to get in was two abreast down the sidewalk and went around the corner; I'd already planned to visit at some point but this made me want to visit it even more. The Last Chapter is a bookstore with a theme, which is ~*~ ROMANCE ~*~ and I would argue that GLAM is a secondary theme. This small shop delivers on the romance books of course, and you're sure to fund your decorate romance trope lining the shelves. When I was here I heard a customer ask if they carried LGBTQ lit and the proprietor said that they'd sold out of all of it during their grand opening (restock coming soon!).They have merch as well; I loved the shirts supporting Black and Latine writers. There was a lovely sitting area in the front of the store and near the back there are three selfie booths that is such an adorable touch! The owner was so welcoming. I love that she is involving her community with the photo booths to encourage socials media interaction and by seeking author suggestions from patrons. If you are a romance fan, definitely stop by Chicago's newest bookshop. read more

Do not recommend attending any events put on by this shop. They change the time and location without notice (2 months after announcing evening) without any consideration that folks planned according to what they published. When other places change location/time/etc, they are considerate of their patorns. Not here! I love supporting independent bookstores and recommend you pick any of the other great shops with appropriate customer service in Chicagoland. read more

This is the cutest romance book store. They have little nooks with different themes you can take pictures in. They have a lot accessories like, stickers, candles, bookmarks, coffee mugs, and apparel. They have one seating area but it I don't think it's to sit and read while there. The biggest issue I think I had is the pricing on everything. It was overpriced. I think it was just the experience of the store was cute but the pricing needs to be a bit more reasonable. Very cute romance book store! I had never been in a bookstore solely for romance so i was very excited. Book selection is why I am writing this review. I was hoping coming into a smaller book store I'd find romance books I had never seen before but it was all the generic books you can find at Barnes or Target. I would have loved to see some Kindle Unlimited books that no one seems to put in their stores, Sadie Kincaid, Shantell Tessier, Nicci Harris, Danielle Lori... their dark romance selection had nothing much in it, with books that are not even dark. I feel like if they take some suggestions and order a new selection of books they may thrive :) read more

This was my favorite bookstore, but the poor customer service I received today has me not returning. I've attached the email responses and blurred out my name for privacy purposes. I have shopped at this store several times! I've gone to events! I've gone to their book clubs! I have tagged it and happily recommended people to go. I misread the information when placing the pickup order for Onyx Storm. I realized I wasn't going to get the book on release day, so I emailed them to cancel. Should be easy? Right? WRONG. I get a sassy email pushing back and trying to shame me for wanting ONE book on release day. Small business or not, this is not quality customer service. read more

I love the concept of TLC and the selection they carry in store for lesser known indie authors is amazing. There truly is something for everyone. But that's as far as my good rating goes. The services I received anytime I have gone into the store was less than welcoming and like the staff was disgusted I would be shopping in their store. Never offer to help or interact with me, just sneer as I browse the shelf and pick my books to buy. I also did a preorder for a book in the fall and after numerous back and forth, still have not received the book in March. I wish I wanted to support this local small business more but it has left such a bad taste in my mouth since it opened and I've finally given up. I will be doing my book shopping directly from authors or Amazon from here on out. read more

yes this has been "addressed on other platforms" because I left a review both here and on google reviews. and I will be happy to explain here as well. The dispute that was put in was because the merchant offered a code to get a percentage off from the purchase, but for some reason the website kicked the code off of mine when I submitted my order. The merchant declined to help me with this issue when I emailed them, so I was forced to go to my bank and submit a dispute ONLY for the exact amount that should have been taken off with the code. I do have one question, the merchant continues to reply to my reviews that the "banks sided with them" yet they also state that they're unaware of why I've haven't gotten my refund...if you claim the banks are on your side, then why would you be wondering why they haven't refunded me? The truth is that the dispute is still being investigated, because I was not refunded by the merchant over 4 months ago when the order was originally canceled, like I should have been. read more
