A lot of bookstores curate themselves toward the big hits, and you don't often see a lot of attention paid to a wider variety of writers. Exile in Bookville is completely different: you can tell through the shelf talkers that the employees are passionate about books (and music, as witnessed by the music selection and the owner's vinyl collection). I also like the idea that the books are there for you to find, like you're in a hunt for what you might like, giving you the chance to discover books you wouldn't have searched for otherwise. It's small but well packed, with a thoughtfully curated selection that is truly speaks to the love of reading and books.

I found some classics, fiction, a wonderful selection in their non-fiction area, and translated books. It's a medium-sized store, but their displays are quite prominent. Everything is easy to grab (no ladders or staff needed to get to the high books). All the areas are labeled and it's visually pleasing. The staff was nice, too. Checkout was easy and they were friendly. Prices are standard of paperbacks and hardcovers. You are paying for an indie bookseller (I paid about $40 for two books, which includes tax). I wasn't at all disappointed with the price. They also have a loyalty program for those that are regulars. I really am happy I checked out this spot. It was beautiful and friendly. There was a lot of books and totes to chose from, it was hard not to leave with more in my bag!

They also have a really spacious separate room available for events. Lilly immediately knew where it was supposed to be, and when it wasn't there, she knew exactly where else to look. Sure enough, she found it! She was incredibly kind, helpful, and genuinely knowledgeable about the store. You can tell she knows her job and truly cares about helping customers. Myopic books is stuffed to the brim with gently loved books found across three floors. Sometimes, the flooring can be a little uneven, or even a piece of lumber as if from a hardware store, but it is all part of the charm. It's such a pleasure to explore the nooks and crannies of the place and see what kind of books they have. Whether for yourself, as a gift, or just to see what is out there, it makes for a fun experience! The staff is friendly, helpful, and happy to help you find what you're looking for! The space is also inviting for those who'd like to relax with a book for a bit, rather than get, buy, and leave... and they do this without having a coffee shop on-premise. It is not a stand-alone bookstore, but it does have most things you would need from a bookstore, plus a friendly and helpful staff person. She picked up the phone when we called to ask her where she was located and the shop hours.
