Had an early appointment to have a pedicure done with a friend yesterday. We got to the shopping center early to grab a coffee next door...Old Shasta coffee company (also fabulous). The staff were hanging out on the sidewalk in front of the shop, doors wide open...we walked up about 15 minutes before opening and were greeted and invited in! Very nice to have that welcome rather than making us hang outside (which we wouldn't have minded since we were the early ones). We both enjoyed the pedicures! I have been going to crystal nails for years now and I always have a good experience. Just recently I've been getting my nails done with the powder dip method and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! It lasts longer and when you do get your nails off it doesn't make your existing nails thin and weak. The oil they use stick the powder on your nails has vitamins in it which keeps your nails healthy. I got my nails done by Linh in matte white with chrome on four out of ten nails and I LOVE it. If they don't have the color you want in the actual powder itself, they can do the powder and then paint what color you want over it. Also you can get it just on your natural nail shape, you don't even need an extension! A lot of nail places in Redding are behind on the new trends and may not even know how to do the powder dip.. I literally wouldn't trust anyone else except for crystal nails. Next time you go in for acrylics ask for the powder dip! read more

I've gone in for a gel mani pedi twice now and both experiences have been great. Vu did a great job on my nails and they lasted 2 weeks before the first chipped -- my fault, not the manicure's. At my last visit, I had made an appointment for myself and a friend and when I walked in there were 6 women & teenagers waiting (after-school rush). I thought my appointment was out the window. I really really wanted to love this place more- so much that I am sure I will give it another try. I chose this spot because it was closest to my guy friends house and dragging him to get a pedicure was a chore in itself, he was stoked and actually made a comment about how he didn't feel flamboyant or crazy in the environment. And when we showed up all the pedicure chairs were taken and they took us one by one. We didn't get to sit together and we all had to wait for each other. This is my new go-to inexpensive nail salon in Redding. I was greeted by one of the males that works there (didn't get his name unfortunately) My wait when I walked in on a Saturday afternoon was somewhat long, about 20 mins, but I noticed people who had appts came in and sat in a chair right away. The salon was neat & clean. I came in for a fill and gel polish & it was one of the quickest & best nail jobs I've ever had done. The male who greeted me was also my nail technician and although he was really busy, he was still polite and funny. I told him exactly what I wanted: super short, squared with round edges and a single gel color. He did not disappoint! Plus it was only $32 dollars with tip! A lot of people complain about being rushed through their appointment in their reviews but I didn't mind at all. It didn't affect the quality of his work. The only reason I gave this review 4 stars is because my edges were left a little messy but it wasn't a huge deal. I will start this review off by saying that I have regularly, for the past two years received a gel manicure at least twice a month. With that being said I am very familiar with the process. I do feel bad for only giving two stars as the appointment setter was friendly and accommodating. He was able to get me in same day with the person of my choice for a gel manicure/ shellac manicure. (I had read previous reviews on yelp and felt my choice of manicurist to be the best at the salon) I had scheduled an appointment at 12noon and arrived on time. My manicurist was finishing up with a previous client when I arrived (no biggie). The same person who I took my appointment assisted me with the removal of my current gel polish/shellac as we chit chatted for a while. I waited 15 -20 mins for my manicurist to attend to me, again no biggie as she had stopped by to greet me. I did not have have a busy schedule today and had no problem waiting. Once she finally attended me she provided a COLD water bath to soak my hands in, forgot to apply the cuticle remover solution and then also failed to buff my nails after shaping them. She was applying the top coat of shellac, when I could (and I'm sure she could) clearly see the rough edges of my nail poking through. I asked her to please rub off the top coat and buff my rough nails down as the end result would not be a smooth finish. She also failed to apply the bonder (the liquid that a manicurist applies to remove the oils from your nails) before applying the top coat. In addition the color of shellac I chose was very much a different shade than the one applied, I'm not sure if the polish was numbered incorrectly... but it was definitely an entirely different shade. I did not complain to the tech as the shade applied was actually a lovely color. (be advised you may receive a different color polish than the one you requested) Being new to the area... I unfortunately have to try out different salons before I find 'the one'. Sadly this nail salon was 'the one' for me, as the manicurist missed the mark when she failed to complete basic manicure steps. read more

I used to go to this place regularly. I live in Cottonwood and make the drive for this particular nail place. I went in there about a couple months ago, wanting to get my nails done, and this elderly lady was not listening to me, and I made her redo my nails right then and there she did not like the fact that I was requesting her to change the polish when she was not doing what I asked her to do originally with the design. She proceeded to do my nails very sloppy did not cut my cuticles or anything so the following time that I got my nails done, I decided to go to a different facility this facility of course did not do. My nails correctly as well so I decided to go back to crystals nails, hoping that I would get the younger woman that work there. When I walked into the nail place, the older woman came to work a few minutes later I was sitting in the facility for five minutes, waiting to get my nails fixed by the younger lady the older lady came in and proceeded to tell me that she could not change my polish that she did not have that color even though I've had my nails done there before she was very rude turned me down I highly recommend going to a different place just because of this owner. This elderly woman owns this place and her customer service is terrible. She does not care to listen to what you want as design and how expensive nails can be this is something I feel that these workers need to learn how to get past language barriers and be respectful to the customers that come in to the facility. read more
