First great manicure I've had in months! Called just before they closed last night and grabbed a quick gel fill for this morning. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment and was taken in right away. My nail tech was Trish and she was incredibly warm and welcoming, as was everyone I came in contact with. I have seen some reviews stating this salon was not clean and organized. I have to say, I'm not one to knock anyone else's reviews because it's that persons experience. However, if this was the case at one time it was very much in the past. The salon was very clean (being deep cleaned as I walked in this morning as well), there were many carts that were sanitized with organized tools. The sink area was clean with freshly folded towels and the floors were spotless. For each client they had baggies for each clients tools which were disposable. In my opinion this salon was impeccably clean and organized. Everyone was wearing masks and sanitizing as they went. I showed Trish a design I liked and she started with a full consultation about shape and length right away. She then helped me select a colour and we went for it! Trish checked in with me many times to ensure I liked the work which I found comforting considering this was our first time working together. Trish also took the time to clean up my cuticles and skin, so smooth now! Once everything was done, she did a last inspection and applied cuticle oil. I was then checked out right away by a very friendly receptionist. Total appointment time was 45 minutes for a gel fill with nail art. Overall, this salon was very clean, time efficient, professional and friendly. I felt very welcomed and left with exactly what I wanted. They also have a rewards program that they email to you after your appointment. Very simple, just verify your email and start collecting points with each appointment towards a $20 discount! I walked past the place and managed to get an appointment for the next day. It was busy when I arrived. I opted for a regular pedicure and it was the fastest pedicure I ever had. It was done in 30 minutes or less (excluding the drying time). Throughout the entire service, the nail technician tried to upsell services to me for add-ons. I rejected them as I just wanted a regular pedicure. The scrub and massage were barely there, just a rudimentary thing she did. It seemed like she was not interested in doing more than necessary once I said no to all the extra stuff. I did not particularly enjoy the service or the place. It felt like a sweat shop where everyone was being hurried along. The price was about the same as elsewhere though if you have the coupon, you get a few dollars off. I did not get the coupon though, but it could explain why this place is always busy. The only thing it has going for it is the free parking in Columbia Square Plaza. read more

I have been back more times than not. They don't do the tea every time, it's not as quiet as it used to be, but they still give a great Mani Pedi. SO MUCH SHELLAC! They have all the colours and update frequently. I have had their waxing services now too and can report that they were clean and effective. Still 4 star! read more

Okay so I didn't hate my mani/pedi but I didn't love it either .. I was way over due for one due to just relocating to bc but I tried this place based on numerous recommendations and reviews from yelp were okay.. Something to take into consideration thy weren't super busy when I arrived at 3pm today . When I was leaving they got busier so I can't chalk this off to rushing due to high traffic Pros:- in no order of Importance - complimentary pedi slippers :) -wide variety of quality nail polish , opi gel ish etc -affordable - based on other price lists I've seen -EXCELLENT customer service and friendly staff I had Trish- she wasn't chatty but she was kind and made some conversation -TVS that aren't too loud so u can ignore them if need be but with captions if u can't hear them well - inviting atmosphere - standard massage chairs - foot baths were ok Cons - Manicure water was cold - not my liking -Manicure was 12 minutes along I timed it and to me that's realy short it also wasnt a well done mani just okay polish was applied well though - my pedicure was mediocre border line bad ; I still have dry skin on my feet and my polish was not painted well (see pictures) now I know you are wondering if I got a bad pedi and just an okay mani why the 3 stars? Well the customer service was worth it and would probably allow me to try them again but just pay more attention to my end result ... and there is no way I would be coughing up 55-85 for any of their deluxe treatments I do not think I would get my money worth Honesty for 45 dollars I guess this might be considered okay but I'm really unhappy with my pedi .. for the reasons stated above and my mani honestly was just okay .. in terms that I am used to better quality services ... but I would really like to stress that their customer service is pretty good .. and they are friendly I didn't feel like they were talking about me in viet the talking between technicians was actually minimal.. but hey I would at least reccomend u give them a shot .. read more

I have now ventured into Crystal Nails twice and am becoming quite the fan. This time I only got a pedi and included the orange scrub for my legs and feet. It was so great. I now have nice smooth, soft feet and legs. I kinda want to go again just for the foot/leg massage and scrub. The service is great and they really do give you a lot of attention and do a great job. They ar a bit pricier than the other salon I go to but so worth the extra money. This place will become my regular mani/pedi salon. Can't wait to go again soon. I love pretty toe toes. read more

I walked in on a Monday afternoon, without an appointment. I was greeted right away and asked if I had an appointment. I said no and watched as the nail tech checked the schedule. There was room for me so she penciled me in. I said I wanted a regular pedicure and a shellac manicure. As I sat down in the massage chair for my pedicure (which she turned on for me), I felt relaxed. I'll be honest, I don't get pedicures often because I hate my feet being touched. I usually spend the whole time squirming and I'm uncomfortable. This wasn't the case though. As Trish went to work on my feet, she handed me two colour swatches: one for my manicure and one for my pedicure. It was a nice touch that I didn't have to waste time looking for a colour. I was able to choose one while my nails were being worked on. After I choose my colours, she handed me a sheet that showed different pedicure options. I still insisted that I just wanted a regular pedicure and she didn't push me further. When it came time for my manicure, she asked me if I wanted my nails short. I said yes. I really should have been more specific though. She definitely cut them too short for my liking. You know when you cut your nails so short that you can feel that they've been cut? Yeah, it's that feeling. Not a big fan of that feeling. Both my manicure and pedicure look nice though and Trish was very polite and pleasant to deal with. The total came to $60 (cash) which isn't a horrible price. I'll be back, but I'll definitely specify that I want my nails short, but not TOO short. read more

If you want a minimal frills, Classic Asian nail salon with vibrating pedicure chairs, 10 gel colour wheels and same day availablity, this salon is a good choice. Here are some basic pros and some cons about Crystal Nails. Pros: same day appointments Well priced Selection and consistency of colours and quality Communication is fair to good Fast service, no wait and appointments are kept. A few "veterans" to help with the more advanced requests . Clean with consistent quality Cons: the attendants will stand and gather and noticeably comment and stare and talk to each other about your nails . This seems to be a norm at Crystal nails . It's a larger establishment and even though all they do there is nails, the attendants have actually made me uncomfortable a few times when they gather and talk about my nails as they are done . I tend to only get French or French ombré so I don't know why this would be but it is what they do . No music . It's a busy place and it would be nice to have a more tranquil setting . They have a tv but it's on mute so bring your own head phones to listen to a podcast . There are some rookies . I have backed away from my color choice once or twice because the attendant wasn't sure whether or not she could do my request . If you find one of the senior girls like Kim or Vivian then you'll be fine but there are some new ladies who are uneasy still . I did have one terrible service here once . French ombré pedicure . Really off and didn't look French ombré ...just a blob . Be sure to ask for someone who specializes in this prior to diving in . All in all, I like my nails done quickly and I don't always have the ability to plan days in advance . If you want a solid place to be a regular at, this is a great choice . And all this time I've been cutting my own toenails like a SUCKER! Never again! Yes after months of convincing Alicyn finally dragged my hobbit feet to Crystal Nails, why not right? I'm sure as soon as my shoes came off there was an emergency meeting with the staff where they drew straws to decide the lucky winner that can work on my feet. That poor soul did not show any fear, in fact she was very friendly and did a good job at pampering me. After about 30 minutes of shaving/trimming/cutting/polishing I couldn't recognize my feet, they looked much happier. The entire time you get to relax in their massage char (which does have a rather violating seat massage) and enjoy your tea while watching TV. I'm now convinced, this is the only way to go about cutting your nails. read more

I try to evaluate shops based on five criteria... 1. selection: Crystal Nails does nails-- acrylic, gel, and solar. They also do regular and "deluxe" manis and pedis. I went for a mani-pedi, so I can't talk about their workmanship on the art nail side. But for manis and pedis, they have over 150 OPI polish colours to choose from! Quite a daunting prospect. And they are more than happy to use more than one colour, say a gunmetal grey and a sparkle over, if that's your thing. They also do waxing--but I didn't go there. 2. value: I got a regular mani and pedi for $51 including the dreaded HST. And a lovely job it was! It included the usual cuticle trimming, callous shaving, scrubbing, soaking, filing, buffing, hot towel, and massaging, and presto, my ugly runner-abused feet looked ready to pad down a tropical beach at sunset. I even got a cup of tea. :) 3. staff: polite, quick, and totally cool with talking or not talking. I always feel a bit awkward ignoring my manicurist, but my small talk library is limited. Something that I really appreciated is that after the polish was on and I was escorted to that dryer thingie, they didn't rush me out the door 15 minutes later. They let me take my sweet time, ensuring that my polish was well and truly dry. Nothing worse than being hustled out the door, only to smudge your polish getting into the car. 4. uniqueness and or that "special spark": Wellllll... no. Not really, no. 5. atmosphere: Quite, clean, nicely decorated. Something that I really appreciated is that you have the option of buying your own kit of manicure tools if you're worried about fungal or bacterial contamination (although I did glimpse an autoclave whirring away in the back). As for the practical stuff... Crystal Nail's hours are: Monday-Saturday 10a-7p Sunday and holidays 11a-6p As they're in the same complex as the Marketplace and BMO, parking isn't a problem ever. read more

Arrived 5 mins before my appointment, and before I could even say hello, was told they were full up, no times available. Established I did have an appointment, after finding my name for them in the book.... This was my first time here, chose this place on good reviews. I asked for the luxury pedicure, expecting full service. While I was provided with good, basic nail care, the liquid lufa, and marine mask, were lacking, deep tissue massage consisted of a dab of five different lotions on each leg rubbed on in about 5 mins of 'massage'. My nails were actually painted before any mask or massage.... I have never had that done. Nail polish usually last, and as a result my feet and toes got no massage at all.... To top it all off, I was charged an extra $20.00 for shellac, which I did not ask for, or realize that was being provided. When questioned at payment, no response provided. I've gotten my nails done here several times and each time I have been very pleased with the results. I definitely recommend Tina for acrylics. The first time I had her it was at the end of the day and she seemed pretty cranky (fair enough), but she still did a really nice job. This time I went earlier in the day and she was in a way better mood and did a great job on my nails. She doesn't talk much, (which is great for me because I'm super shy), but I still felt like I could talk to her if I wanted. The rest of the staff, including Ken the owner are really nice. I have had waxing done here before and I would definitely not recommend it. They put baby oil on my skin afterward and I had a terrible breakout. HORRIBLE. Went for a pedi, the technician cut my toe deeply open and it BLED and she immediately covered it so i wouldnt see, but i FELT it. She then put a nail polish remover soaked cloth on it to "stop bleeding'. I am a nurse, and that is alcohol based, it stung and makes it bleed more! She got mad at me said i should pay to buy a bottle of it and see shes right ... she charged me full price for pedi, couldnt even apply polish to that toe as it wouldnt stop bleeding for 20min until i applied pressure myself. I asked for a manager she said there wasnt one that day. I limped out. Went to work that night and my whole foot was throbbing all night in my running shoe and I had a black tip toe for a month while it healed. NEVER go here. read more

Low quality product and higher than average prices. You're better off going somewhere else. I've been going to this salon for a year now and almost every single time between fills (I go every 2-2.5 weeks), one or multiple nails break. I have had my nails done for over 12 years off and on - in that time prior to going to Crystal Nails, i've broken maybe half a dozen nails TOTAL. Since going here i've had a nail break between fills almost every single time. I've continued to go back as the location is very close to my house and the girls there are wonderful, but i'm on day 4 since getting a fill and woke up to a cracked nail and 2 nails lifting at the corners already. I don't have the time to be going back to the nail salon once a week..not to mention they charge me $5 per nail to repair..why am i paying for something that shouldnt be broken in the first place? Time to find a new salon with better quality product/better workmanship. For the record I have a desk job and do nothing strenuous with my hands. read more

A number of years ago I tried this place and they were horrible. I vowed never to go back but a friend of mine was moving away and wanted to get pedicures together and this was where she wanted to go, so sucked it up and decided to try these guys out a second time. I guess the saying goes second time's a charm as they really were so much better than before. I got a mani/pedi and added a lemon citrus scrub for my legs and I was in HEAVEN!!!! The staff were so nice and didn't hurt me, which was one of my complaints last time. They have so many different colours of nail polish which includes OPI and China Glaze. I decided to get a brilliant China Glaze green that matched my Canucks practice jersey as it was game day. I will definitely be going back there for my mani/pedi's. Tip, it is best to make an appointment, especially on the weekends. They were even busy on a weekday afternoon. I am definitely considering using them on my wedding day :)! read more

Horrible service!! My friend and I got a pedicure done for at least 20 min. The nail lady rushed my massage and didnt even properly scrub the bottom of my feet. She kept talking to her coworker the whole time and I'm pretty sure they were making rude comments about us while speaking in their language. The lady at the front desk was like screaming in the store (we dont know why) but they were super rude and unprofessional. Never going back there again. read more

I have waited 3 days before posting an unfavorable review. I am doing so because I read these reviews, and use them when choosing a service. I have had two unpleasant experiences at this spa. Accidents happen, but the management response can make a huge difference in the way a customer feels as they walk away. In this case, a 30% discount was not an appropriate solution. I had avoided this salon for 4 years after taking my nieces for a pedi. My toe cuticles were cut several times deep enough to bleed. When booking with a man (shop manager?) over the phone, I mentioned why I had not been in for 4 years. When I sat in the pedi chair, the manager informed the tech, in their native language, of my prior experience of being cut. I assume this is what he said. Many of the techs stopped what they were doing to look up at me. Maybe I should not have mentioned this, but I assume 4 years ago my tech was less experienced,and I was hoping to avoid a repeat. I didn't. I think my tech was experienced, (the manager said so) but a callous razor was used on my toe, and it was cut deep. 3 days later it is still sore and looks as pictured. The tech immediately put alcohol on the cut. I appreciate the need to keep infection out, but it burned, like crazy. Twice I asked to rinse it off to reduce the burn. The tech didn't want me to look at it, and told me it was from the scrubbing block. , even though it was the callous razor. I should have left at that moment, I thought the burning would subside, but it did not. I was trying to relax back into the massage chair and make the best of it but the tech had very long pointed nails that dug in to my calves as she massaged them. I sat forward and opened my eyes to look at my legs. There were rows of red scratches the full lengths of my calves. The tech told me I have to tell her it hurts. I think the red lines would be an indicator. It would be hard to offer a deep calf massage with such long nails. Upon paying, I expressed my disappointment to the man/manager. I was offered a 30% discount. The experience could have been made better by being offered the service for no charge and maybe a coupon for another free service, or deeply discounted service at the salon to acknowledge how unpleasant my experience was. I have no desire to name the tech, or cause her to lose business, it was an accident. Two stars instead of one because the tech did a lovely job with the polish. Both the tech and the manager were pleasant. If the salon wants to contact me to offer a refund, I will update this post. read more

I asked for the tech that had done my Mani/pedi on my first time and I got the name mixed up so I had someone else. The first tech I had, Haylee did an awesome job at shaping my nails. So I mentioned to my tech now, Hannah that Haylee had done a really good job and I accidentally mixed the names up. Hannah got so mad, was speaking in Vietnamese (about me) very loudly, even though I had said it's ok to stay with her, as Haylee had already started a service on someone else. Wheb ishowed Hannah how I wanted my shape to be, she started talking in an angry tone, very loudly that people were starting to stare. I asked if I'd offended her she ignored me. The owner came and basically told me it was my fault I chose the wrong tech. I wasnt complaining at all! Hannah then grabbed my toe and pulled my foot, saying I need to relax. At this point I wanted to leave and was very upset. I stayed as I was halfway through and just ignored Hannah's attempt to try to save the appointment, as she tried to be nice to me after I started ignoring her. I was going to leave after my pedi but they got Haylee to do my manicure so I stayed. I had a family event and no other time to go anywhere else. Suffice it to say I will not be back here again. Mani/pedis are supposed to be relaxing not make you so angry you cry. Worst customer service ever. It's a shame Haylee won't get my business, she's the best nail shaper I've met. read more

Have had over a dozen shellac manicures here and only one didn't last 3 weeks, and that was her first day at the salon and she was gone the next month. Have also had a couple of pedicures. They are great, highly recommend. Very courteous, quality work, efficient. If I have a broken nail they mend it for free. read more

I have been here before and my experiences have been fairly pleasant. Today I went for a pedi and was told that if I wanted a "new colour" of nail polish it would be an extra $5. This isn't gel colour, just regular nail polish. Basically, I was handed an old colour palette with a very limited selection as half of the colours were crossed off. I asked to speak with the manager and asked him why certain colours are $5 more and he said that they are using a new brand of polish going forward and I am able to choose a colour from their old stock and not pay the extra up-charge. It's very apparent that they are trying to use up old stock. I am annoyed that this was never mentioned on their website or when I called to book the appointment. If I would have known that there would be a $5 up-charge to be able to chose from any shade, I would have just gone else where. I have never experienced this ever at a nail salon before. The manager did not seem to care at all about the customer experience. I do want to say that the nail tech was very friendly but unfortunately I will not be a returning customer based on the lack of customer service. read more

Let me start by saying I have been going to this place for a few years. They are quick and efficient and I am usually pretty happy with the results. In the past few months though, the quality of work has really gone down hill, and you kind of get the feeling you are just another number for them. I have been going in every week this past month to fix issues I have had with my shellac nails, often they are breaking low on the sides. The first break, they fixed with crazy glue and put shellac on the top, which I then had to go back a few days later to have repaired, this time with acrylic on top. The girl that repaired it made it so thick, I had to ask her to file it down more, even then it was quite thick afterwards. After this fix, about 5 days later, two more nails break low. I called to make an appointment today to get a pedicure done, and asked if I could remove the shellac as my nails keep breaking. The male owner on the phone lets me know that I will have to pay $15 to have it removed but if I decide to do shellac again the removal is free. He then goes on to let me know that I can do acrylic nails on top of all my real nails instead so that they will not break, and then put shellac on top. How does this make sense from a business standpoint? Yes, I am sure you will make more charging customers for things they do not need or want, however in the long run you will lose money because you're not looking after or listening to what your customers' wants and needs actually are. Several of my neighbours also go to this place, however they too have been commenting on the shellac not lasting as well as certain nails the shellac has actually completely come off in one go. I do not recommend this place unless you're okay with your shellac manicure/pedicure not lasting longer than 5 days. read more

My boyfriend and I went in for manis after I'd read all the positive reviews... However, our experience was not a good one. The nail tech cut me multiple times to the point of drawing blood. Not fun. I pointed it out to her after the first small nick but she just kept going at it in the same manner. The other thing that put us off completely: flies*. There we were, trying to relax and enjoy our 'deluxe manicures' (which I don't recommend, super overpriced- the only difference from a regular mani is this one includes a strange hand mask which feels like Vicks Vapour Rub.. Borderline uncomfortable) while 3-4 flies buzzed around our heads. They would sit on our heads or fly around our faces, and alas, we had no free hands to swat them away with. I mentioned the annoyance of the flies to the nail techs and their response was something along the lines of: "Oh yeah, they always get in here". No apology or attempt to get rid of them. I was not pleased, to say the least. Needless to say, I will not be going back. My idea of a relaxing day at the nail salon includes neither bleeding cuts nor flies, thank you very much. *Side Note: it wasn't even summer. I got acrylic nails with gel overlay.. it was done by the older man that works there. The appearance was great but my nails started to fall off after 1.5 weeks.... so I called and told him that in 3 weeks half of my nails fell off..which he then proceeded to tell me this is normal and that he'd replace the 5 nails when i git my infill done.... not exactly a bonus because I paid 50 dollars for the nails and he told me it was 50 to fill them.... definitely not happy with this place. Went to Crystal last night for a shellac mani, my first time here. I noticed while sitting at the station, the little side shelves at the station for polish and such had lots of old nail clippings and dirt, ugh! The girl the girl who doing my nails went so fast, I got the impression she was in a hurry to get the job done and move on. She left lots of little rough jags on the edges of my nails that I had to ask a few times to file off. The hand/ arm massage was awful! She did it as fast as she could, and finished off each hand with a weird finger flick to each finger, that did not feel good at all! The polish application , though was excellent. She got the polish on nice and even and as close to the eges as possible. This morning though, there is a very rough edge on the end of my nail, that is driving me crazy. I want to file it, but afraid I will damage the integrity of the shellac. read more

I just wanted to add to my prior review that although I do like this place, it does seem to be more expensive than other places in New West that are probably equally good. May have to switch to somewhere else for that reason. read more

This place used to be my go-to; however, I had an appointment a few weeks ago, which I had to miss due to the fact that I suddenly went into labour that morning. When they called around the time of the appointment, my mother answered and advised them that I went into labour and naturally was not going to be coming in. Their response was "well next time you have to call". Considering how many of the employees there are mothers, I'm shocked at how rude they chose to be. I went there two weeks ago. I got a pedicure and a ful set of gel nails. I just took my nails off becuase they were lifting an I have a fungus on 7 fingers. I didnt have a fungus before I left there. I have seen my doctor and he said it was from my last nail place. I also caugh a fungus on my feet. Just dont go to this place. They are obvioulsy not very clean! read more
