Alterations by Jessica - Velcro on bra, which attached to fabric square made to hide bra in v-line of dress

    Alterations by Jessica

I absolutely loved working with Jessica. She was so kind and clearly knowledgeable about her craft…read more I needed alterations done on my bridesmaid dress, which was way too big on me and needed so many touchups in every area. Prior to altering the dress, I also had a problem in the chest area, as I couldn't find a suitable bra to work because my bra was visible in the v-line area of the dress. After meeting with Jessica and discussing options, we were able to find a perfect solution-- she used the same fabric taken from the bottom hem to create a small square, which Velcroed to the inside of my bra and folded over the front of the bra. This made it look like it was a part of the dress' design, making it super convenient to not have to constantly adjust the bra to hide it. Jessica and I met twice to consult about what needed to be done prior to altering, and I really appreciated how dedicated Jessica was to do the job right. She responds promptly, which I also love, as we were able to communicate frequently about questions I had and the timeline for getting my dress back. I also live about about an hour away from her, but she kindly offered to meet closer in my direction, which was extremely convenient.Once I had my final fitting to pick up the dress, it was like putting on a glove. Everything was done absolutely perfect. She even made me a scrunchie with leftover material from hemming the dress, which I thought was the cutest thing! I recommended her to a family member, who was also in love with the way her dress fit after working with Jessica. I would recommend Jessica to any and all looking for alterations. She is amazing!

If you're a LEO like me, whatever clothing your agency issued isn't the greatest. If you're a LEO…read morelike me, you have this problem - you like your stuff to work as hard, and as well, as you do. I went to Aspetto with nothing but an idea - take these department issued pants, make them out of something light weight and comfortable, put the pockets in better spots, and build something to support a drop-down holster. Oh, yeah - and I want an extra handcuff pocket somewhere. I was asking for a LOT. A little while later, I had it all. And more. The pants they made fit me perfectly, support a drop-down holster, and even have some extra pockets for life's necessities (lip balm, a flashlight, etc.). I happen to think their prices are reasonable. For less than the cost of a brand new leather jacket, I'm wearing a pair of trousers which were designed, researched and developed, and built - from scratch. Someone said they weren't "terribly impressed for the money," and I'm curious as to his expectations. You don't get this level of customization or craftsmanship inexpensively, and "for the money" I couldn't be more impressed. As to communication, when I was trying to find a place to make my pants (several places said 'it simply can't be done') I stumbled on Aspetto's website. About eleven at night, a chat window opened and asked if I needed help. A short while later I was chatting with one of the owners, and the proverbial ball was rolling. You're not going to find a better custom clothing experience, especially for a non-traditional item. Nor are you going to find a better value for such a thing.

Everything has been completed with perfection. She has amazing patience and listens intently to what you want. She will make suggestions as she honestly wants you to "look good" in your clothes. Hoda will go out of her way to make sure you are satisfied with her work. She does not deserve the disparaging reviews that I have read on this site. Some friendly advice - try on the clothes when you pick them up to make sure the alterations are correct. Don't wait till the last minute to have work done - everyone deserves a vacation - so plan accordingly. Quality work is worth the cost. There is no better place for alterations than Hoda's Tailoring.

We asked for the dress to be shortened, add the bustle, add a second row to the straps. $600 - half the cost of the dress mind you. When we went to pick up, we found out she was closing the shop for vacation until the day before the wedding. So we did take it as it was, not wanting to risk the chance of picking up the day before and it being worse than we already had. Upon my daughter getting into the dress, I noticed the hips had puckering. Honda was snappy with "we didn't do anything to that." In my mind, I was like I realize that, but here's where I expected that she would have recommended that be taken care of when we brought the gown in. Next up was the HORRIBLE shortening job. Take a look at the photos. She cut the lace straight and then loose stitched the scallop right over top! I spend an entire day hand stitching the scallop on so it was secure and then cutting the under layer off so it wasn't a double layer of lace mismatched lace. I go to put the dress back on the hanger and I'm searching for the hang tab for the train. In the process I find a straight pin that was in the innermost layer of the dress. It appeared to me that they used it to hold the layer up while working on something else and forgot to take it out. Thank goodness when my daughter put it on, that layer wasn't longer than the rest, because there was no way I could've fixed that. It was also at this time I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get the zipper all the way down. I discovered that when she stitched the hooks in for the bustle, she sewed the material across the lower end of the zipper. Do not take anything special here. I wish I'd read these reviews on wedding gowns first! To Kyle's "defense statement" here's our photos! And the zipper was stitched over at the bottom of the zipper, so yes she could get into it, but as I mentioned I want able to get the zipper all the way down! I did address my concerns when we picked up the dress and Hoda snapped at me - as I mentioned in the original review.
