FOOD (4/5): Crybaby's has some pretty good options for food given it is primarily a cocktail bar. During happy hour, these food items are discounted which is even better. SEATING (5/5): Indoor and outdoor seating is available and allows for large groups to be accommodated here. Cry Baby's has been one of my favorite places in town since it opened a few years ago. The Big Baby burger is my go-to item to order and it is consistently phenomenal (if you love caramelized onions and secret sauce, this burger is for you!). It used to come with the freshest thin and crispy fries that were cooked to perfection every single time, which I always looked forward to having! Based on these new thicker fries that come nowhere close to matching up to the deliciousness of the previous version, I felt obligated to remove 1 star from this review. If you can tell from my past reviews, I REALLY don't like rating below five stars even for minor inconveniences. First off, this place is CUTE!! We opted to sit outside at sunset and it was nice to people watch as we sipped our beverages. The bartender was very friendly, seemed to know her customers, and steered us in the right path for drinks. First off: I always have respect for an establishment geared towards adults with a selection of mocktails: for the non-drinker that still wants to feel social, it's a very welcoming feeling to know that they've been considered when planning a menu. The ONLY reason this location lost a star was because my partner placed an order for a half-dozen oysters and we waited about 35 minutes prior to needing to leave for our dinner reservation. The bar staff immediately refunded us without question, so they handled it very graciously, but it was a bit disappointing because the food looked great and we saw dish after dish pass by us for other patrons. My suggestion would be to possibly remove the numbered placards given when ordering food upon delivery so that staff passing by know who has been served and who is still waiting, perhaps. All in all, would definitely recommend this place and would be happy to return. read more

Was really excited to try this place out during my visit and it went okay but could've been better. The food was great the miss was more in service. Our server seemed to be more occupied with one to two other tables and only checked on us once. Besides that we had to keep seeking her out. I was a regular at Sweet Mel's 5 years back and haven't been back at this location since then out of respect lol BUT MAN!!! My husband and I were SO IMPRESSED at the quality and deliciousness of the food. We had the yuca (o.m.g amazing) and the birria tacos did not disappoint either. The drinks were super yummy and the local and decor was very inviting and cozy. Honestly have nothing bad to say. Oh, just a tip though: don't sit down at a table and wait for a server to come to you. Orders for drinks and food are made at the bar and they will bring the food to your table, but drinks get picked up at the end of the bar. 20/10 recommend!! read more

I've been to Cry Baby's on multiple occasions and each time is a memorable and great experience. The atmosphere is a nice change from the bustling clubs and crowded clubs downtown and midtown but is still lively and a great environment to catch up with friends and enjoy some drinks together. The drinks are also on the pricier side compared to other bars, but the quality is much better than other bars' drinks that I've tried in Gainesville. Great drinks, but just so you know parties larger than 6 have a MANDATORY 25% gratuity! And they will not split your bill. 25% to serve drinks is crazy, especially when we were not even given waters. So I used to really love this place, and the cocktails are still great. However, the quality and variety of the food menu has seriously gone down. Meanwhile, the prices only continue to increase. The nachos used to be my favorite in all of Gainesville. Now, they're clearly using subpar cheese, they've eliminated the house made salsa negra and salsa verde, and there are no pickled jalapeños. It's the same with their burgers - no more caramelized onions. For the chicken tenders, they've eliminated the buffalo sauce and the gochuchang; also, the tenders are smaller. It's not really worth it to eat here anymore. For these prices and the quality of what you get, eat elsewhere. Inside, it is still very pretty. The cocktail prices have increased, but the happy hour and daily specials can make it worth it. read more

Cry Baby's is a newer restaurant in Downtown Gainesville and I'm really glad it opened! The vibe is super cool, and is relaxed while still being fun and lively. It's a good place to go grab a drink with friends. When I went we had to wait a really long time for our drinks (about 20 minutes) and we found out the bartender had forgotten our order. But they made up for it by giving us some really yummy, and really strong, drinks. The food was good too. My friend is vegan and she was able to find plenty of options on the menu. I got the nachos and they were pretty good, but had too much lime. The wait staff was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, and was very apologetic about the wait for our drinks. Wow wow not only are the drinks fantastic but the food is where it's at here at cry baby's!! They have a good deal on one of the weekdays for $25 to get a bottle of wine and fried chicken. I actually went here two nights in a row for dinner. First night I got the hot chicken sandwich and fried which was so messy but literally amazing. I haven't had hot fried chicken in that type of sauce ever. Definitely recommend (as other yelpers do)! The second night I had the fried pork tacos and wow do I love chicharron and tortillas. Service was great, bartenders were very attentive and friendly. You order at the bar and they give you a number to make sure they know who to give the food too. It was my first Pisco Sour and it was surprisingly good, refreshing, not too sweet and smooth. The nachos were incredibly filling. During my senior year at UF, this became the spot for my girlfriend and I. Their happy hour was our favorite and we always can find a seat! Don't deal with the crowds at a lot of nearby places, come here. Their happy hour will provide you with cheap tater tots that the whole table can enjoy and still not finish. Their fish tacos and chicken sandwich are my two favorites. I was also impressed with their egg white cocktails and seasonal beer. It's hard to find a Kolsch in this area and they always had it available! Miller high life is super cheap here too, $2 if I remember correctly for happy hour. I had a big baby burger that was cooked to perfection with their special sauce, homemade pickles, caramelized onions, toasted brioche bun and a side of thin fries. Absolutely incredible. Came here for the first time and we got the top mule, fried chicken bucket, fried chicken sandwich and chorizo nachos. We were driving through Gainesville and wanted to eat at a non-chain bar. We found Cry Baby's on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Really glad we did as our drinks were very well made and our food was delicious. My husband and son had the Big Baby Burger and both ate every last bite. I had the hot chicken sandwich.
