Wow, this was legitimately the worst burger I have ever had. Service was pretty bad, too. They tried giving us the wrong order, AFTER they told us our order was "messed up". Got the food home and the burger was the greasiest, grossest thing I've ever seen. The "meat" was paper thin and over cooked. It looked unappetizing, but I tried it anyways. I love burgers of all types, and this was inedible, had to throw it out and get something else. Waste of $30! Two stars because the tots were good. read more

Really enjoyed the food and the drinks here! Excellent happy hour! Great social distancing! The nacho tots were AMAZING!! Also loved the tropical drinks!! Can't wait to go again! read more

amazing little bar. tends to be a bit pricey on the drinks and food, but worth. Their gochujang chicken sandwich is absolutely amazing, and the Wednesday night fried chicken bucket comes with amazing sauces. The service is generally pretty good and the staff is friendly, BUT expect to have a LONG wait on a weekend. Inside is the coolest little bar, full of retro design and green. read more

We came here on a whim and had an amazing time. Amazing cocktails... good vibes. Jay is the best!!!!!

THE ROACHES. I have to write this review simply to get the attention of the manager/owner/local exterminators. We were at Cry Baby's for maybe 45 minutes last night and killed AT LEAST 5 roaches both on the floor and the wall while still sitting at our booth. A phone light to the ground made 10 more scatter... The workers seemed very grossed out but definitely were aware of the problem as they were paying pretty close attention to where they were stepping. Obviously it's not their fault as wait staff but someone needs to get the situation under control. We're pretty chill girls but decided we couldn't stay and finish our food/drinks while roaches crawled on us. We waited outside and our waitress only charged us for half our bill... I'm sorry but if that doesn't warrant a comped meal what does??? We loved this place so I'm pretty bummed lol read more

Delicious cocktails (make sure you get Jay to make yours). Food menu is simple but delicious (get the burger, unless your vegan). Atmosphere is inviting and friendly. And, again, the drinks....so delicious, refreshing (they don't chinch on the alcohol), and visually appealing. My friend and I had la Paloma, an old fashioned, and the east side fizz: all delicious making it hard to choose a favorite. read more

Cry Baby's - La Paloma/Old Fashion - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Gainesville, Florida

First trip to this bar and they had it all! The ambiance, the experience, stellar menu and hospitable staff. Clean, COVID compliant and a definite must stop read more

Horrible hostess attitude. Made me not even want to eat here. Her name was not given to me by the server but she had dark brown hair and an X cheek tattoo. She was extremely rude to my party and it turned us off from the restaurant. We ended up leaving and got great treatment from another restaurant in the area. read more

I could write a sonnet about the burger I just ate, but honestly words can't do it justice. The burgers at Cry Baby's are PERFECTION, and this is coming from someone who doesn't really like burgers. I ordered their Big Baby Burger, which comes with two patties, American cheese, pickles, caramelized onions, and secret sauce. The burger bun is perfectly buttered and toasted, the caramelized onions are mouth watering, and I don't know what is in that secret sauce but that stuff is FIRE!! Their fries are excellent as well - just the right level of crispy. The burger and fries is $12, which isn't bad for the large serving you get. I also ordered the Cry Baby Mule. It was pretty good, but I don't think I would order drinks here again unless it was happy hour. $9 is too much for a girl who's trying to ball on a budget, ya feel? Their happy hour is 5-7, and they also have excellent weekday specials which I will attach as well. The food is honestly where it's at, hands down! read more

Greatest chicken sandwich.. wasn't going to review it but had multiple dreams about it

if you couldn't tell by the hipster music blasting in your ear or by the way the staff is dressed, it's an indie bar. it's cool they play their music from vinyls but i would still like to talk to the person i came with. they do bring your drinks outside after ordering from your table so that's where all the stars are from. idc about their drinks. i'm lazy and they cater to that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ read more

The Monday sandwich specials are maybe the best deal in Gainesville. The spicy chicken sandwich is superb. (The food is good enough to get on not-Mondays too :) read more

Went there with my wife and daughter. The waitress just walked by us and never tended to us. Avoid this place.

This is a new bar in Gainesville that has an awesome low-key ambiance. They have signature cocktails and the typical beer/cider selection. It's a great spot to grab a drink after work, or before a meal on a weekend. The location is very central to downtown. It would be a great spot to bring a first date! read more

One of the the best places in town the drinks and food are all unique and delicious. I would say some things are a little much after a bit but if you get a few things to split it balances out. My favorite thing is the big baby burger read more

Went for lunch with our son. Was slow bartender was talking to a patron at the bar. We sat ourselves at a table. Waited ten minutes. She didn't even acknowledge our existence after ten minutes we left. read more

This place is terrible. Servers are particularly awful -- totally unprofessional. Good inedible.

Just go. From awesome bar food to oysters, and draft beer to amazing cocktails, Cry Baby's is the one stop shop. The Jimmy Burger is phenomenal as well as the hot chicken sandwich. If Negronis are your thing, they have them on draft. Friendly staff and good music. This is the place to be downtown Gainesville. read more

I cannot emphasize enough how much of a gem Cry Baby's is to the downtown food and drink community. Their food is incredible and their drinks are delicious. You can tell immense care and thought was put into the creation of both their drink and food menu. I genuinely think their happy baby burger is the best in town. With everything being made in house you cannot go wrong here. Definitely recommend! read more

Whoever the cook is or menu creator is amazing !!! Love the Mexican food, your burger is AMAZING!!!! Your creations are great and a very shocking and pleasant surprise !!!! read more

The food and drinks were great! We had the happy hour nachos and loved them. We sat outside and ordered from our phones, ordering was pretty easy for us. read more

Cry Baby's has been open about a month. We went on a Friday around 7:15pm, thinking it wouldn't be as busy. I really wasn't busy---but it still took us 15-20 minutes to get our drinks. The food came out fast; be warned, the nachos are very, very hot. Waiting for anything might have been okay except the music was so loud that you could hardly hear the person next to you talking. We won't be back for a couple months--hopefully by then they've made the atmosphere more enjoyable. read more

Had the spicy chicken sandwich. LOVED ITTTTT !! Spicy but full of flavor. I like when restaurants get creative with french fries. Cry Baby's did a pretty good job on that, their fries have great flavor and were thinner than regular fries read more

It's hard to find a place that offers both quality drinks and food. Cry Baby's does both! The servers there are also very nice. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a chill spot for good food and drinks. read more

Drinks are amazing. I would say next best after Madrinas. Their burger is the best I've had in town - the only thing is the bun has a lot of butter on it but if you don't mind the mess ... it's exceptional. Love how food is served late (till 1:30 am)- i like to go on late dinner dates and it's hard to find a place that serves food late and has a bar atmosphere like Cry Baby's. Great place and love the vibe of the staff! Will be returning for sure. read more

Food was okay. Service was terrible. It took the severs an hour to get us our food when they told us that it wouldn't be a long wait. The servers do not help you at all. Only come if you are down to wait an hour and a half for okay food. read more

I enjoyed trying this place. The employees were very nice and helpful. We tried the cheeseburger, spicy chicken sandwich and chicken bucket and they were all tasty although a little pricey. You do have to look for your own table if you want to sit down with your party so having a larger crowd can make that challenging. Overall, I'd say 4 stars. read more

Friendly staff, great drinks, amazing looking food! I really love what they've done with the place and I will be back soon!

I love Cry Baby's... perfect classic American Diner Fare for Carnivores and Vegans. Excellent drinks made by astute bartenders and an elegant bar. I am addicted to their very simple hamburger/cheeseburger and fries. The bun is ACTUALLY GRIDDLED and crisp, like "Once Upon A Time in an American Diner". Food is consistently good, a simple menu, but always reliably delicious and EXTREMELY inexpensive. I visit them weekly. Please visit them, and support them, this American Dining Adventure is a treat here in Gainesville. read more

I eagerly awaited for this establishment to open since they first posted the sign on the door in January and I am here to say: it is extremely average. I didn't try any of the food, but the drink prices were high for what you were getting. The service was EXTREMELY slow and the bartenders didn't know what they were doing- it took the bartender 20 minutes to take our order and another 15 to make the drink (meanwhile my drink was done and they continued to make other drinks before giving me mine). The drinks are overpriced for what they are. I had the Get Down, while my friend had the Jet Pilot and we were not very impressed. Mine tasted (and looked) like a neon green children's fruit juice. If you want a quality drink for the exact same price, go next door to Madrina's. The decor had a lot of potential but it fell slightly short of the appeal they were aiming for. Maybe with time this place will get better, but for now I will be going elsewhere. read more

The chicken tenders were delicious with just the right amount of crisp. Our party made a comment about how the ceviche was prepared, and the manager unexpectedly comp'd the dish for us. The cocktails were interesting and tasty. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet fun. Great work! read more

Really enjoy this place! Always great seating, little wait time if busy, friendly staff, cheap food that taste amazing!

Food was horrible kitchen manager was very rude, very unclean with a bad smell inside. I wouldn't recommend to anyone!

My friends and I were very excited to try out the new bar in town. We ordered two Paloma cocktails, and they tasted ok. The bartender was not knowledgeable about the menu, and couldn't recommend a good food item. After drinking our cocktails and eating a meal, my friends and I started feeling very unwell. We were nauseous and had severe stomach aches. We then noticed a bottle labeled "LSD". When we asked the bartender about it, he said it was to "keep things light when they get slammed". That is beyond unacceptable. It is safe to say we will never return here. Take our advice & don't go. read more

This new place is pretty cool. It's spacious, clean and trendy without being pretentious. It definitely seems to attract a younger, tattooed crowd. The cocktails are pricey but are also supposed to be decently tasty. They also have a few mocktails which was a pleasant surprise for a soon to be mama like myself. They do serve a variety of bar food including peel and eat shrimp, fries, sandwiches and even a bucket of fried chicken. Everything we ordered was well seasoned and delicious. The music was a little loud so it can be tough to carry on a convo inside and outside there is some seating but only if you enjoy a cigarette or don't mind some second hand smoke. The highlight of the joint is their tabletop shuffleboard. It's hard to come by a table in Gainesville. I'm glad to have another chill spot downtown to grab a drink, people watch and play a round or two. I'm curious to see what this place will become over time. read more

Cry Baby's was a great experience but nothing over the top. We came in on a Thursday evening and I would have appreciated some "icing on the cake." We sat and drank our drinks (I had the Rosita), but I wished there was something else going on. Like live music, trivia, karaoke, etc. my drink was tasty but nothing over the top. It was refreshing to be in a classier bar in a college town. I would recommend trying it out to get your own opinion. read more

Not impressed with service at all, but that appears to be the norm in Gainesville. I cannot point to one single restaurant or bar where I felt welcomed as a customer. We ordered nachos, fries, and old fashioned(s). Food and drinks were okay. Location is great. I hope service improves as it goes. read more

This is my favorite new spot in town. The drinks are great and the food menu is simple and delicious. If you're looking for cheap drinks, this isn't your spot. But if you're looking for nice cocktails in an amazing environment, this should be your first stop. read more
