I reached out to David for a rush job to install new countertops and add a backsplash for our old kitchen. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to remodeling, so I heavily relied on his expertise. He graciously and patiently guided me through decisions such as what materials and hardware I should use, where to buy them to minimize costs, and their placement during installation for the best aesthetic result. Even though I gave vague instructions, he managed to express those in more definite terms and, ultimately, deliver work that far exceeded my expectations. From day 0, David is extremely thorough, taking in detailed measurements and requirements to offer a very fair quote and accurate projected material costs. During the work day, his team works diligently and meticulously, then leaves the work area spotless. In my case, the work area and beyond were left much cleaner than when they started working, which is a wonderful gesture when you have a toddler to chase. We chose a thick marble herringbone pattern mosaic tile, which took skill to cut precisely without cracking and attention to detail during installation to make sure the spacing was even. The quartz countertops were flawlessly fabricated and installed, with mitered edges to create seamless, clean surfaces. All in all, I am blown away by our kitchen improvements. It's now the best part of this rickety apartment by a mile. Even though the rush job meant that David and his team would have to work long days and on the weekend to meet my deadline (which he beat by a couple of days), they somehow did not compromise on quality. We had a few minor chips on our quartz countertop around the sink. We called David and he came over the same day and gave us some great advice. Our countertops have a 1/32" bevel which seems too sharp hence the chipping. David recommend we drop this to a 1/16" bevel. We agreed. He did it with his tools, pretty amazing a sander and grinder looking set of tools and was done in a matter of 30 minutes or so. It wasn't cheap but I think it was worth the investment. read more

This review is long overdue and if Yelp allows it, I would give David a 10+ star rating. I relocated to the East Bay pre-pandemic and this is my 6th property which I've renovated. I've had my bad experiences with contractors in the past which is why I feel very fortunate to have found David. First of all, David is very responsive by phone and text. He's also very reliable, always punctual to appointments and gets the job done in a timely manner. He offers great suggestions and ideas, being new to the area, he was able to direct me to the right places to find the materials I'm looking for. (Tip: it's faster to order all the materials/supplies and have it delivered/ready beforehand, otherwise, David can also pick it up for you.) He along with his workers are very hardworking and cleaned up each time at the end of the day. I'm amazed at the quality workmanship he's demonstrated and it shows upon completion of each job. There isn't anything he can't do. I interviewed other contractors to install a corner farm house sink which was deemed impossible but David made it happen. Not only are his price quotes reasonable, unlike other contractors I've worked with, he is honest upfront on the cost and tries his best to reduce any unnecessary fees. So far, he has completed four projects in my house in the past two years: kitchen remodel, guest bathroom remodel, master bathroom shower stall and marble countertop & toilet upgrades for my other bathrooms. I was in the middle of a mini kitchen renovation when I ran into a situation where I needed someone to help pick up and cut the countertops we had planned to install ASAP, otherwise we'd be without a functional kitchen for a while. We first found David last year when I decided I'd had enough fighting with my kitchen faucet and had bought a new one only to find the hole was a quarter centimeter too small to fit with our sink. Almost every company I contacted basically told me the job wasn't worth their time, but David came by the same day and got it done for us within an hour. It was awesome to have a functioning faucet but what I really wanted was a better sink. We had a split sink (which sucks by the way), and we had gone to HD to see about replacing it and they basically said it'd be impossible without replacing the granite so I'd given up. Fast forward a few months and I find a drop in Kohler sink at Costco that I fell madly in love with. I was determined to get my dream sink so I reached out again to several contractors and all of them said the job wasn't big enough. I reached back out to David and he had no problem coming out, giving me a quote and scheduling our project. He showed up on time a few days later, walked me through the process (confirming several times what I wanted and how the end product would look) and was done by the afternoon. Did a great job and left the kitchen just as clean as he found it. And I now have my dream sink! Oh, and I should mention that this is our temporary mini remodel. We just wanted to have a better functioning kitchen for now but plan on remodeling the entire kitchen to the studs. I rarely give 5 stars unless it's really deserved and David is truly a worker that deserves it. As a property manager for homes and apartments, I have worked with many contractors, carpenters/handyman in the line of home improvements but seldomly would I come across a valued worker like David. I had a kitchen that was remodeled 5 yrs ago and wanted to do a minor kitchen remodeling that required an existing marble countertop to be cut 30 inches wide that also requires to remove the cabinet underneath the countertop in order to make room to slide in a 30" wide one unit stove oven. I reached out to many kitchen countertop stone fabricators on yelp and most weren't able to help me and the ones that do, only wanted to do a whole kitchen remodel that starts from $15K and up. There were even contractors that didn't know how to cut the marble countertop that was already set on the counter. And the ones that could do the cut don't know how to remove the cabinet under the countertop. I only had 2 days to get this done before the appliance store deliver the oven stove. I was running out of options until I came across Countertops and More Services. David from CMS responded to my request for the quote within minutes. Received his estimate and agreed for him to do the job and he was able to come through for me and completed the job on a Sunday.., 2 days before the appliance delivery. Not only does he do big kitchen or bathroom remodels from his pics but he came through on a smaller remodeling when the others only wanted to remodel or replace the whole counter tops and cabinets, which would have been such a waste and very costly to owners. It's quite rare nowadays to see a worker like him, very detailed, hard working with good work ethics that provide quality results. He carefully measures and double checks everything and even asked me if this is what I wanted before cutting to prevent any mistakes on the marble/granite countertop. After cutting, grinding and polishing the marble countertop, he re-measured again for squareness and accuracy. Prior to any work, he covered everything up in the work area before cutting and his assistant would vacuum the dust as he cuts the countertop. After the job was completed, he and his assistant left the kitchen very clean afterwards and took all the debris/garbage outside the house before leaving. He even polished the edges on the marble countertop after he cut it. All this and at a reasonable price. I will definitely use him again on my next kitchen/bathroom remodeling, counters and cabinets installs, tile floors or smaller work repairs that involve natural stones as the materials. If you ever need any work (big or small) for your kitchen, bathroom, floors or anywhere that you want natural stones for the materials, David is your go to guy.
