After weeks of burying my head in the sand I finally relented to looming Uni deadlines and went off in search of coffee and sweet things to help me get through my assignment writing marathon of doom.
Having explored most places within walking distance of my house in Albion, I felt like something a little different and after reading the rave reviews on Yelp, I decided to make the short drive to Crust bakery to check it out for myself.
Now, I'm not usually a fan of bakeries due to my general apathy toward anything even remotely bread like, but holy omg, Crust does a pretty darn tooting good almond cream, cherry brioche. My partners plain croissant looked pretty tasty too, but he was guarding it with his life, unfortunately so I didn't get to taste any myself. The coffee (Merlo) was pretty average. There was nothing specifically 'wrong' with it but nothing to rave about either. Pretty standard.
Along with our sweet treats, we grabbed a mini sour dough to have with our Sunday breakfast for only $4. Just the right amount of sourness, good Crust, I think I actually prefer it over our usual Brew Bakers loaf.
All in all, I totally recommend this place if you're local (even if you're not, its probably worth the trip). Would be perfect on a Sunday with the farmers markets being pretty much right next door. read more
