Serving the most delicious buns (wagyu beef, angus beef and chicken as well as various specials, and a delectable caramel banana dessert bun) this is easily one of the best 'no-fuss' and under $10 dinners you can hunt down in Brisbane. Find them in several spots around town including Loading Dock Espresso, The End bar in West End and Kangaroo Point Cliffs. They've got a cult following and where they go, so do the bun-stars. When I visited Harry and Christine at Loading Dock Espresso just before their Tuesday lunch rush, I ordered the Wagyu Beef bun and without realising it, Harry's own Dragon Chilli sauce. I'm not one for chilli or anything spicy but Harry's Dragon Sauce just gave the bun a gentle kick. The buns are freshly made to order and are well worth the ever so slight wait. Do yourself a favour and pin point where they'll be next and pop your Bun Mobile cherry.

I have a confession to make. I was a stalker until Friday when I finally satisfied my cravings. I…read moream referring to The Bun Mobile! Ever since I found out about this gourmet food truck "taste sensation" late in 2012, I have been intrigued and obsessed to try them ever since. Checking their calendar schedule, at least once a week (as their location changes daily,) only to curse the gods, disappointed at missing out. Not this time. Friday evening, The Bun Mobile made its way to Morningside at Southside Tea Room. It was there in all its unmissable funky glory. The truck itself is very presentable, and clean. The weather was gloomy, but standing in front of The Bun Mobile, looking up at the menu, was like seeing the clouds part and rays of sunshine beaming down. Their regular menu is Chicken, Pork, and Wagyu Buns but this night included a new special. Braised pork belly, zucchini & mushroom kimchi, crunchy lettuce, peanut butter and jelly. Talking to the lovely Christine who served us, she mentioned that it would be The Bun Mobile's 1st birthday come the week ending 8th March. She was really nice, and said Harry was the one who did all the cooking. There are also vegetarian options for those who are allergic to meat. The hardest thing about The Bun Mobile is deciding what to get, as everything sounds delicious. We ordered the Braised Pork Belly special ($10), and the Chicken bun ($8) which is Char grilled teriyaki chicken, slaw with julienne carrot, mint, Japanese mayo, and hoisin sauce. We observed all the lucky customers who had ordered earlier having a great old time at Southside Tea Room, eating their buns, smiles as wide as can be. I was salivating in anticipation. We didn't have to wait very long, as Christine called us out. Rushing home and opening the styrofoam box the buns come in..Aaah there it was, fresh, quality ingredients and ready to be devoured. The buns are actually quite generous in size, large in fact. We tuck straight in, having a taste of each other's, and all the hype about The Bun Mobile is all true. It is absolutely fantastic. The combinations of exotic flavours are mind-numbingly scrumdiddilyumpshus, and the bun is so soft I could swear there were clouds on my taste buds. It's no wonder The Bun Mobile has over 5000 followers on Facebook, probably qualifying as a religion at the next Census, and rightfully so. The Bun Mobile should be the benchmark by which all other food trucks are measured against. It met all our expectations, from their excellent service to their amazing buns. Initially apprehensive about eating cooked goat meat in a pie (what an odd combination!), I was blown away by the taste explosion I experienced after tucking into the Moroccan Pie (approx $7) from the Goat Pie Guy. The meat was soft and tender (as goat meat ought to be), the gravy of the right consistency and with an even distribution of spices. I couldn't stop at one! I went back for the Himalayan and we even wrapped a couple to eat later. The Goat Pie Guy knows his meat and is undoubtedly a master at pies. Hope to see him at our local Nundah Markets soon some day.

I spotted the Goat Pie Guy on the 50 meals to try in Brisbane list and while meandering through the Blackwood Street markets I was thrilled to see that he was there. The line up was only a good sign. I took my place behind other eager pie lovers and soon enough was at the front of the queue. I made the mistake of only purchasing 1 pie. The deluxe. With hot pie in hand I ambled home to share my spoils with the husband. (2nd mistake). The pie that greeted me upon release from the brown paper bag was golden, flakey, I was already drooling. After carefully dividing the pie in to equal portions I set about delicately eating (inhaling) the pie. It was everything it promised to be and more. The meat, was big, chunky and falling apart with tenderness, the gravy was thick but not gluggy and was the perfect flavour for the goat meat. The pastry was exactly what you want in a pie, crispy and flakey on top soft but firm on the bottom. I can tell you right now that from being served by THE PIE GUY who was friendly, happy and just plain cool to the heaven that was that goat pie, if and when they ever add lamb, beef or bacon to their meat pies I will be hunting him down where he sets up. This one is an absolute winner. One of THE BEST pies I've ever had.

Tacos are $6 each, or grab two for $10. Trust me, you can't just have one... they might have other 'especials' so look at what the board says. My husband and I shared two tacos between us (I know, I said you can't have just one... I still mean it), and an agua fresca. He had the Beef Juan/Beef Barbacoa, and I had the Tacos de Calabacitas/Veggie taco. Oh my goodness, the veggie taco was NOM-nom! It takes a lot to impress me with vegetarian Mexican stuff, but these guys were genius having those roasted peptides in the mix -- it gave it the whooop! Out front of the ordering/pick up window is a shelf of bottled hot sauces. Yes they have Tabasco, but please, please, don't pick that up. Try the Cholula, ok? Seriously, give them a go...

Since moving here I've been searching for a place that makes legit tacos. I am so happy that I found this place, and they have amazing prices (for Australia that is, I'm still getting used to the difference). AND they have Horchata, which is a delicious cinnamon rice water, and Jacaima, which is super refreshing. I ordered the Beef Juan, which originally came with pico de gallo and salsa verde, but substituted that for white onion, cilantro, and salsa roja (my favorite). The best part is that they even include a lime! You really can't have too much lime. After eating one taco I went for another. Can't wait to eat here again! I really really recommend this place. Best tacos around.
