My mom and I love Middle Eastern pastries, so I stopped by to pick up a few items on my way to my parents house. Some of their items are sold by weight and some by the piece. I got a piece of Shaabiyat (triangle shaped pastry made of phyllo stuffed with custard) for $2. I also got a piece of shredded phyllo Kunafa, a piece of semolina Kunafa, and a piece of cake layered with ashta cream and pistachio nuts. These 3 pastries were $23/kg and it cost me $12.65 for all 3 pieces. The Shaabiyat was quite sweet, but I still enjoy it, while every thing else was perfect for me, so much less sweet than at other bakeries. I loved it! My parents felt the other pastries were not sweet enough for them, but they just poured some of the honey syrup that came with the pastries on it and felt it was perfect. I love how you can control the amount of sweetness. Everything was delicious. I will be coming here for all my Middle Eastern pastries from now on. The lady serving me was very friendly. Part way through, a man came to the front and advised me that the piece of cake I ordered was from yesterday and he can get me a fresh one. Oh yes, please! Also they had some freshly baked Shaabiyat at the back and they would bring that tray out. Nice! I was so thrilled to be getting fresh items (I came on a Saturday morning). The lady also gave me a sample of their baklava while I was waiting. They did not have any Znoud El Sit while I was there, but hopefully next time, as this is my favourite Middle Eastern pastry. I am so glad that I discovered this place! It's in the Plaza on Vanguard at Tenth Line. Same plaza as Li's Fusion, Ali Baba Bakery and Chocolat Favoris. Lots of free parking.

I was at my parents' house and my brother dropped off a meat and egg Pide for us, which was super sweet of him, but it was covered in sesame seeds, so I could only eat this tiny corner where they missed sprinkling the sesame seeds (I can handle mild contamination. I wanted to have a taste, but didn't want to push my luck, lol). The tiny bit I sampled didn't have any egg on it though :( It was good. The pastry was soft and fluffy and the ground meat was flavourful. My parents really enjoyed it. I think it was their first time having Pide and my dad said he liked it better than Manakish/Lahmacun because the dough was softer. Celina Bakery sells the other types of meat pies too. We are not gluten-free, we just love desserts so wanted to check out this new bakery ;) We got a lemon square ($4.50), a Nanaimo Bar ($4.50), carrot cake slice ($6), a blueberry scone ($4) and a slice of maple cheesecake ($5.99). Everything was moist and rich. Nothing was dry nor crumbly. The blueberry scone was my favourite. It was chock-full of big plump blueberries. They have a good variety of baked goods, both sweet and savoury. In the grocery store section they have gluten-free snacks such as crackers and also different gluten-free flours and mixes. Now that this location has opened, I only pick up pies here! The service at this location is remarkable, always welcomed with a smile, the service is quick as well even when there's a line up. The establishment is clean, you can seem them kneading the dough in the back, putting the ingredients on the pie, ready to be made in the domed oven. My favourite is the meat with cheese! However, all their selection of meat, cheese, Zatar, & Veggie pies are delicious. They are oozing with flavour especially when eaten fresh! It not $1.00 anymore but considerably priced. The company started off as a home-based business and then eventually got a storefront. They are only open This, Fri, and Sat as a retail bakery. The other days they are only a pick up site for online orders. They have stuffed cookies ($6 each), mini stuffed cookies ($4 each) and regular (flat) cookies ($3 each). They also had S'mores bars when I was there (for $6.15). If you buy more than 6 there's a bit of a discount. I got the Campfire stuffed cookie. It's essentially a S'mores cookie. The marshmallow was super gooey and delicious. The chocolate was a smooth dark chocolate. The cookie was rich and buttery. I enjoyed the cookie, but $6 for a cookie is too spendy for my budget. Staff were friendly and patient. Since it was my first time there they explained the different types of cookies they have and the pricing. It's strictly a bakery, so takeout only.
