HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! We visited Orange Beach and decided to view the skyline from the Gulf with a…read moresail. There were 4 adults and my 2 year old grandson in our group. Captain Randy was a fantastic skipper who made the cruise very enjoyable and comfortable for all. Unlike some other sailing companies, we ACTUALLY sailed in the Gulf (engine off) and enjoyed the breeze and the views. As a sailor on Lake Michigan, Captain Randy let me take the helm of the 35-foot Beneteau for much of the sail. (THANKS, Captain!) He has tons of local knowledge and provided great information to our group. The boat was super clean - the topsides dazzling white and the woodwork varnish below deck looked wet it was so fresh looking. My only regret is that we did not book a longer cruise. Tom H. It was a little crowded if you were fishing on the sides of the boat. The captain did his best to put us on fish, and moved a number of times. All in all, it was fun and we each caught some fish. The mates were really good - they took your fish off, cut up bait, helped with tangled rods, cleaned your fish. If you can afford to charter a captain and boat, that would definitely be more fun. And I cannot imagine taking the 3pm fishing trip if it's July or August - it would be hotter than hell. But for the cost, this was fun. Definitely a well-managed operation.

I fully admit I had no idea the "Redneck Riviera" was this special. While you're in the area, it's…read moreinexcusable to not explore it by boat. If you really want a VIP experience, do so via Sail Perdido. I have spent a lot of time on boats in a lot of places around the world. That being said, there were a few stand outs about Sail Perdido that I have never experienced anywhere else: 1) DOLPHINS ARE EVERYWHERE. There is a huge dolphin population here. I lost count of how many dolphins we saw during our sail. 2) You feel totally isloated. We didn't see many other boats, despite perfect boating weather and the beautiful scenery. I'm not sure how this place is such a well-kept secret, but I'm glad it is. 3) Captain Bo is the man. He went above and beyond to make our trip as relaxing as possible and tailored to what we wanted to do. It's always special to be around someone who truly loves what they do; he seems to truly enjoy the trip as much as his guests. 4) If you want, you can have full control of the on-board music. Bring your iPod/phone if you want to play your own tunes. You won't be judged for your questionable music taste -- Capt Bo even let me listen to Enya at one point. It doesn't get much more tolerant than that. Life really felt like it slowed down for the hours we were on board. Most of our day was spent just lounging. You can get plenty of sun stretched out on the bow, while the aft provides full shade. When we were ready for a little action, we anchored for a swim. We were even allowed to jump off the top of the boat for a little thrill. The sailboat itself, L'Attitude, is so majestic and exactly what you "expect" a sailboat to look like (or at least what I expect). There's plenty of room to chill out down below, too. The interior is cozy with rich wood paneling. And don't worry, you don't need to use nature's toilet during your cruise -- the boat has a working, clean toilet. Fun fact: Captain Bo is sailing this boat around the world in the next few years. Be sure to ask him to share his story with you. He's happy to answer even the most ridiculous questions about his journey. It's surreal to imagine being on this boat in the middle of the ocean for weeks at a time, all by yourself. (Warning: you might ponder deep thoughts for days to come and/or want to leave your job when you return home.) Trips on Sail Perdido are suitable for pretty much anyone, be it families, couples, or groups of friends (we were a group of 3 girls). Capt Bo told us he even had a couple get engaged onboard recently. It's also worth noting that Sail Perdido is LGBT friendly (which you don't really expect to find 'round these parts). Just keep in mind you can only have up to 6 people in your group (not for lack of space, but because the Coast Guard says so...) Sailing is kind of the perfect metaphor for focusing on the journey versus the destination. In the words of Captain Bo, you're always trying to get somehwhere on a power boat. On a sailboat, you're already there. Sail Perdido is the ultimate experience for anyone looking for total relaxation and getting away from it all.

You are comfortable because you know that there is no need to worry, that all your cares have been left on land. You can just sit back, sip your drink, and watch the colors of the sky unfold. All your senses are stimulated: your favorite song humming through the sound system, a beautiful wine dancing on your tongue, the sights of the sea all set off by the foreground of a beautiful, antique sailboat. This is what sailing with Bo feels like, and I recommend it wholeheartedly. Day, night, sunrise, sunset. Nothing changes, except you.

The proprietors were really nice and brought us water, fruit, and crackers at perfectly timed moments. Like they could read our minds. It would have been unnerving if they were in a movie like "Scanners", but in this case, it was really nice. They were friendly and talkative, but not intrusive... like friendly background noise, they talked cheerfully to each other about the position of the sails and broat relative to the wind, gladly answering questions when asked but otherwise giving us space to simply relax and enjoy. My kiddo was able to steer for a while and she didn't ground us due to exceptional technology on board and the watchful eye of our captain. She thought it was fun, and added a new statement to her bragging montage. She can now state the following: "I eat Mac and Cheese on the reg... I own every Captain Underpants book... My favorite snacks are from the Philippines... I can pilot any sailboat under 50' in length..." Look, there may be other places to go sailing in Orange Beach, but why take chances? You'll enjoy these folks... go give it a try. We will, every time we visit from here on out.

While loading into the car to head to the cruise, I fell off the curb and broke my ankle. I am a nurse and immediately could tell it was broken. While waiting on the ground for the ambulance to arrive, I called Matt to explain the situation and let him know we obviously wouldn't be making it. This morning I reached out to him and sent pictures of my xray and asked if we could be refunded ($460 is what we paid). Matt told me it was not "fair for him to loose out on the money" so he would not refund us. I again asked for at least a partial refund and he offered a $150 credit towards if we book with him in the future. Obviously we will not ever use him again. We are going to likely be out 1,000s of dollars on medical bills and an impending surgery and the right thing for him to do would be to offer a refund or at least a partial refund to a repeat customer since this was a freak accident I had no control over. Very disappointed.
