A couple dolphins decided to cruise alongside us for quite a bit of time. The marine sea creatures were so much fun. Loved being able to touch and learn about these beautiful creatures. There were not enough passengers to fill two boats, so we didn't do a water fight. Instead, the kids got to shoot the water off of the boat and still had a blast. This dolphin cruise was so much fun. Staff were so friendly and kind. Two hours was the perfect amount of time as well. Be sure to tip staff. We used the QR code to tip via Venmo. This cruise was specifically great because it was alcohol free. Our family enjoyed that a lot.

They were respectful of the dolphins and made sure their customers got a good view. They do have plenty of seating options, as well as some inside an air conditioned cabin. The dolphins were playing in the waves right by our boat for several minutes.

When in season we've always landed out limit on snapper and he's usually been able to mix it up some as well. In addition to the usual red, white, vermillion snapper we've come away with trigger fish, Spanish and king mackerel, and on one occasion a 150 lb bull shark. Beyond getting us on fish their quality of service is great. He's very sociable and good with younger ones (we've taken 10 year olds out as well as adults only groups). Their service is summed up well in that when you arrive back at the dock his wife is there waiting with smoked snapper dip (Cajun and regular) with crackers to enjoy while they're cleaning your catch.

Captain Randy was a fantastic skipper who made the cruise very enjoyable and comfortable for all. Unlike some other sailing companies, we ACTUALLY sailed in the Gulf (engine off) and enjoyed the breeze and the views. As a sailor on Lake Michigan, Captain Randy let me take the helm of the 35-foot Beneteau for much of the sail. (THANKS, Captain!) He has tons of local knowledge and provided great information to our group. The boat was super clean - the topsides dazzling white and the woodwork varnish below deck looked wet it was so fresh looking. My only regret is that we did not book a longer cruise. Tom H. It was a little crowded if you were fishing on the sides of the boat. The captain did his best to put us on fish, and moved a number of times. All in all, it was fun and we each caught some fish. The mates were really good - they took your fish off, cut up bait, helped with tangled rods, cleaned your fish. If you can afford to charter a captain and boat, that would definitely be more fun. And I cannot imagine taking the 3pm fishing trip if it's July or August - it would be hotter than hell. But for the cost, this was fun. Definitely a well-managed operation.

They also have a restaurant, Shipp's Dockside Grill, that has casual dining downstairs and full service dining upstairs. They also offer charters along with yacht and engine repairs. They also offer boat and yacht sales if you need that. Overall this is a nice spot to visit and enjoy the experience, sights and food.

I've only used Captain Frady's charter here and highly highly recommend him, his crew, and his Hatteras Sportfisher, "Distraction." For dining, Shipps has two restaurants at the marina, "Lower Deck" which is casual counter service restaurant (opens at 11 AM daily) and "Upper Deck," which is family friendly full service restaurant (opens at 4 PM daily). The Dock Store at the marina offers Yeti products, sunglasses, flip flops, drinks, ice cream, souvenirs, jewelry, clothing, and more. This is such a convenience for last minute things you forgot prior to a boating excursion. I've always enjoyed visiting Orange Beach Marina! In 2008 its complete rebuild was finished post Hurricane Ivan, and it really is a lovely, clean, fun marina!
