The fish were hitting our baits within seconds, and we were landing beautiful fish almost too quickly for Sam to get them off the lines. I personally caught the biggest fish of my life, and our group hit our limit on Red Snapper with time to spare. Definitely a bucket-list kind of thing. Captain Johnny Greene's expert knowledge of this fishery is peerless -- and not only is it a fun fishing trip, it's a masterclass on how a top professional's decision-making works. I loved catching fish -- we went back to the dock with full fish boxes -- but what really made the trip was being out with a captain who really loves what he's doing, wants to share that with others, and has an equally fantastic crew making it happen on deck. The "Sea Hunter" fishing boat and its crew was exactly what our group needed. It was a spacious boat with an air conditioned cabin and plenty of space for our group. We caught our limit of red snapper and a king mackerel, so the catching was great. The boat staff cleaned our fish when we returned to the marina, and we took quite a few fillets to Zeke's restaurant where they cooked them up for us; what an awesome feature!! Everyone loved the fresh fish and sides, and we did a few appetizers to round out the lunch. Give these folks a try, and I bet you will love them like we did!

A couple dolphins decided to cruise alongside us for quite a bit of time. The marine sea creatures were so much fun. Loved being able to touch and learn about these beautiful creatures. There were not enough passengers to fill two boats, so we didn't do a water fight. Instead, the kids got to shoot the water off of the boat and still had a blast. This dolphin cruise was so much fun. Staff were so friendly and kind. Two hours was the perfect amount of time as well. Be sure to tip staff. We used the QR code to tip via Venmo. This cruise was specifically great because it was alcohol free. Our family enjoyed that a lot.

Here's a chronological history of the Gulf State Park Pier, including information about the construction, destruction, and rebuilding processes, estimated costs, and amenities: * 1930s: The Gulf State Park Pier was constructed along with other park facilities by members of the Civilian Conservation Corps under federal supervision. * 1968: The first saltwater pier was built, becoming a popular attraction in the park. * 1979: Hurricane Frederic destroyed the pier. * 1979-2004: The pier was rebuilt, providing fishing and recreational opportunities for visitors. * 2004: Hurricane Ivan damaged the rebuilt pier. * 2004-2009: The pier underwent reconstruction efforts. * 2009: The rebuilt pier reopened, featuring a length of approximately 1,080 feet and various amenities such as comfort stations and wheelchair-accessible rail fishing. * 2020: The pier was scheduled to reopen following a $2.4 million renovation that included an extension, making it 1,540 feet long with 2,448 feet of fishing space, it is the second longest pier on the Gulf of Mexico. He was funny and personable and I had no idea how hard he works until we went out the next day. Jessica called us back immediately and answered all the questions we had about distancing. Elizabeth was the other deck hand and is far more mature than I was when I was a teenager. She and Jeff kept everything going like a well-oiled machine. It took 2 hours to get out to the fishing spot; so take your Dramamine and plan to spend a. Ice ride on the water talking tot the crew and seeing the water change to a rich blue color once you arrive at the deep sea. I'm by no means and experienced angler, but the crew gave pretty simple instructions and I caught 4 Vermilion Snapper. There were some fish we caught that we weren't able to keep because they were out of season or the wrong size. Props to the crew for sticking to the rules, even when people begged to keep their fish. Seeing Jeff and Elizabeth running around like Tasmanian Devils as they unhooked and track every fish caught, untangle fishing lines, throw back fish we couldn't keep, encourage everyone, and then clean the boat on the way back is exhausting to watch. They work hard, so plan to tip well. During the trip, we saw some small shark and a barracuda took a bite out of a fish the woman next to me reeled in. On the way back, a pod of dolphins swam beside us and the captain stopped to let us take a closer look. Jeff and the Captain cleaned and bagged our fish at the end of the trip so we're excited to bring them home.
