We rented our first RV for the May long weekend we got a heckuva deal when we called in to book obviously you need a major credit card but they allowed us to use our friends card as long as she was present which I really appreciated, because my debit Visa and our prepaid visa didn't work! Deposit of $500 which is reasonable, 1,000 000 liability insurance with $1,000 deductible. They have a variety of Motorhomes up to 30ft, we chose that one because they sleep 7 and only the large ones have a generator. It was large with microwave, stove shower no oven, Queen in back and 3 double beds. Personal care kit and bedding all come at extra charge we brought our own stuff! So when we picked it up service was fast and friendly, we did a walk around but unfortunately we didn't inspect it properly and it came damaged, but we weren't charged but still please look at everything closely inside and out!! Then they seemed to have to repair something or tighten something in bathroom? But again we didn't ask and they didn't test it before we left to make sure it was fixed!!! Well it apparently wasn't as when we arrived camping using water there was a major leak from back of toilet all over the floor, my husband tried tightening where he could see the leak but nothing. Then a nice worker at the campground came and had a look and used caulking, still no go we couldn't use water so we called 1 800 number provided, and they couldn't help or send anyone, or even trouble shoot???? We were told to go to nearest RV service place 3 hours away, but in middle of camping?? So we tried talking to a owner of campground and he was so awesome he helped us fix it!! If it wasn't for him our trip was ruined! So pleas pleas if you rent from here just make sure to check, I get things break but I'm sure we left with it already broken and they knew!!!!! They gave us a 2 day refund, and I did like the RV and price, but I am sure surprised at what happened! We just might buy our own to save the hassle! read more

We received the RV in filthy condition. What was worse, it was carpet beetle infested!!! Prior to noticing the insect problem, I thought it was just dust etc, all over the cupboards then later realized it was the hair of the beetle sheeding. There were cobwebs above my fridge, in between the stove fan and microwave, frass from the insects. On the floor, white slithery larva that would stick. There are actual marks on the floor where they are stuck and I know they don't burrow like your typical insect that does but you mideswell put them in that category because if the material is soft enough they will eat thru anything. my vacation was ruined ! read more

No stars deserved. In October, after arriving for a planned RV rental from Calgary to Toronto, they changed the rules on me. I no longer could carry out my plan to cross into the USA for a conference. Despite my best efforts, the operator and staff at the Calgary location could not find a solution. I drove from Vancouver and then had to make alternate arrangements because the insurance was a Permit from Point A to Point B, expired on a specific day, and was not USA approved. Big surprise. Now, Cruise America (for Cruise Canada) is not providing me with compensation, like the $600 gas credit, free 4,000 km & up to 14 nights accommodation. Cruise Canada and, I suspect Cruise America, are interested only in your money. I imagine most renters that want to experience the north American experience are coming from abroad. Be aware, their contract only covers mechanical failures. Nothing else in the camper is covered. Bark a bit and you may get a small refund. If you fridge, black and grey water, microwave, bedding or, for that matter, anything to do with camping which was the reason you hired in the first place, that's not their concern. If you push, you may get 10% refund. Please don't even try going up the chain. They already have your money. Their customer service is definitely out for lunch, probably on your money. read more

Despite less than stellar reviews for CruiseAmerica here and other places, our experience with CruiseCanada (same company I believe) in Calgary was as smooth and pleasant as possible. Picking up the RV was no problem, nor was dropoff three weeks later...both went quickly and efficiently. Everyone was pleasant and knowledgable, the RV was clean when we got it (and just as clean when we returned it). They even threw in the dishes/utensils package for free, as it was already in the RV when we got there. We had no problems with the RV other than the dump line hose connector broke (many RVers carry a spare hose as this is common). We spent about $5 on repair parts and they reimbursed us no problem (could have purchased a new hose for $25, but I like to fix things). Based on our experience I wouldn't hesitate to rent from them again. Note: CruiseCanada only rents basic Class C RVs, e.g. no slideouts. If you want a luxury RV you'll have to pay more someplace else. read more

Stay away - they cheat! Friends of us made a tour with a 30' RV from this company and we supported them as interpreter during the pickup as well as during the return of the RV. The pick-up went smoothly - they show renters a video before the hand-over which explains in detail how to handle the RV and all it's accessories. After the video they walk you through your RV and make notes of all damages. The first thing nobody tells you is that the odometer shows miles, even if the RV holds an Alberta license plate (Canada is metric). The RV had round about 70.000 miles (roughly 110.000km) and one of the staff commented this as 'you are lucky to have such a new RV'. The rental policy states that you have to pay for the cleaning if you do not return the RV cleaned inside and outside. We asked the guy who made the walk-through what was meant by 'clean' and he confirmed that the inside should be swiped and he confirmed that the outside should not show extensive dirt i.e. from driving through mud or on gravelled roads. At the end of their trip we accompanied our friends again and we met the same guy who handed the RV over to us. The interesting part is that he could not remember what he confirmed about the exterior cleaning. He complained about some 'bugs and dust' and charged for the full exterior cleaning. We asked for the manager and waited 30 minutes in the completely empty rental station as we were told 'the manager was busy'. We then started looking for him and found him in his office. The first thing he told us was that he was not informed that someone was waiting for him. Talking about the case he called for the guy who handed us over the RV and the guy lied that he never told us what 5 people have heard! Our friends walked away paying for the exterior cleaning and with a very bitter 'last day taste' of their first vacation to Canada. This is not the way to make visitors come back! read more

We rented a C25 camper from the Bolton Ontario location in June 2019. My main complaint, and there are a couple, is that the grey water tank leaked, a lot, and they knew it. There was duct tape over the leaking pipe at the joint to the valve. Obviously it needed repairs but they chose to send it out leaking. Also the washroom door swings open as soon as you started driving (over 5,000 km) and became a huge distraction while driving. I tried to seal up the leak with special plumbing sealer tape but only managed to slow it down. I was offered a hundred dollars off my $8,000.00 rental. read more

Awesome, We rented our RV from the Calgary, Canada office to take our 85 year old parents to the Okanagan durning the height of the COVID-19 restrictions. Although the team was severely restricted due to the restrictions that the City had put on businesses, they were professional, courteous and quick to organize the entire contract. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY I am afraid to say that although when we dropped our RV off in Vancouver we found that depot to be proficient, professional and friendly, we did not have the same opinion when we collected it in Calgary. We received an extremely poor first impression of Cruise Canada and, in fact, our experience put a mar on the whole vacation for us, as we were dreading the drop-off in Vancouver. We were told by our tour company in the UK who booked the RV package for us that we should contact Cruise Canada direct 24 hours before we were due to arrive, to arrange time of pick-up from out hotel in Calgary. I started trying to contact them before I left the UK - I must have phoned at lease a dozen times - NO ANSWER and couldn't even leave a message as the Message Box was full. On the advice of our tour company we got a taxi at 9am in the morning to the Calgary Depot. There was nobody at the reception desk and I had to wander around out back to find somebody. I found a group of men standing around chatting who told be to go back to the reception and somebody would turn-up - great customer service. Eventually, a girl showed up and denied that they didn't answer their phones!! Well at least, we were now on the way to getting our RV. The supposed Orientation was a joke - thank goodness we have RV experience back in the UK otherwise I do not know how we would have gotten on - are they deliberately not providing clear instructions in the hope that somebody causes some form of damage so they can deduct from the Security Deposit. I am so disgusted in this Company's customer service that nothing would surprise me!! Now on to the RV - dirty towels and bedding - i wouldn't even put them in my dog basket. We had to go to Walmarts to buy all new. The provisions package supplied is a joke - no glasses, no frying pan, no toaster, no coffee maker. No combi-microwave - just a microwave and 3 burners. Not conducive for a self-catering holiday. In fact, they require the RV to be returned clean, what about supplying IT CLEAN - I had to clean it myself when we collected it, as it was not up to an acceptable cleaning standard. I WILL DO MY UTMOST TO SPREAD THE WORD THAT THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS. read more

On return they said the whole windshield had to be replaced. Took $350 from my initial deposit. Terrible service, garbage RV s, also down right criminal. We had a very good experience with this company! The RV was very clean and had all the facilities needed. We had some damage when we returned the RV. The staff was very friendly, understanding and were fair in solving the problem. When we left we forgot the luggage from the kids. After working hours they did everything to help us! The staff (Steve and Racquel) were fabulous, and the camper was clean and well-equipped (wine glasses in the camper would be great, though :-)). Not impressed with the Calgary location. We booked the motorhome to be picked up at 1 p.m. It was not ready and they asked us to come back in 1/2 hour. We did, but the unit still was not ready for another 15 minutes. The girl rushed through the functions of the motorhome and did not check everything. As it turned out the hot water heater did not work. My husband went through the manual and followed the instructions. We found out the wire was burnt on the hot water heater. We phoned cruise Canada and they said they would phone back the next morning by 8 to tell us where to get it fixed. They did not phone back until after 3 p.m. and the place to get it fixed would be closed soon. We opted not to get it fixed, since we were leaving the next day. When we returned the motorhome they filled out a form, but not once did they try to compensate us. In fact they miscalculated the kilometers, so we ended up paying more. The sad thing is while we were waiting for our ride other campers were dropping off there units and every person had something not functioning on it.eg: fridges not working, cupboards not latching, etc. I would not recommend this location to anyone, it clearly shows that they are only interested in making a profit and not their customers. The Calgary office are a disreputable group. They have all sorts of hidden charges. they seem nice and friendly At the start but they cheat you when you return the vehicle, half the charges that appeared on my credit card occurred two months after I rented it. When I called and even went there again to dispute this they said only head office can resolve charges and no one at the local office would talk to me. If you want to confirm this reviews authenticity that's easy enough. Go on line and call the web site number ask to "speak" to someone in Customer service. They will tell you that Customer service only communicates by email! So you have to wait for them to email you back....in my case I have been waiting 90 days for them to respond So if you do have a problem with the rental.....good luck you are on your own read more

Wow i wish i had read the reviews before we rented here also. We got a motorhome rental for the spring special (which is NO special in the end). They use unfair, sneaky tactics to 'nickel-and dime' extra expenses out of customers. Once they have your credit card number, watch out! They add on extra booking fees which are not clearly stated when you pick-up your vehicle. Also, the van we got was NOT clean and had a very noisy heater/furnace during the night use. It seemed like the vehicle had not been checked for safety or tuned-up for a Long time! BEWARE - I rented a 19 ft RV from the Calgary office late Sept 2016. To start with, gas tank was 1/3 full. That was annoying, but minor. What wasn't a minor annoyance was my carbon monoxide detector shrieking me awake at 3AM my first night, 5 hours after starting the gas furnace. I called traveller assistance and reset the detector, then hard reset it by pulling the fuse for 5 minutes, and then settled down for the night. Same thing happened next night (my neighbors were not happy). I called again, options were to 1) buy a new detector and/or 2) buy an electric heater. Of course, I was in Banff over a weekend - no hardware store open. So, I ended up bundling up in my (summer) sleeping bag and waking up from the cold every few hours to run the heater for a few minutes while the fuse for the detector was pulled out (not smart, I know). Possible this was a bad detector, but you can't smell CO, so it seems nutty to ignore it all night long. Probably I was the 1st person to use the furnace this season? You could see a lot of yellow, not blue, flame - so I'm pretty sure that means it wasn't burning properly, and it took hours to alarm - seems like a bad detector would go off right away. Some observations: 1) This shouldn't happen - a defective furnace leaking carbon monoxide can kill you. This should be maintained/checked before I rent the RV. 2) Why have gas heat? The Cruise Canada RV website doesn't tell you this size RV (19ft) HAS NO GENERATOR! So the furnace (fan) can only run 2 hours on the auxiliary battery - so you HAVE to be hooked up to an electrical outlet at a campsite to run heat overnight. Why not just use an electric heater and avoid the propane/CO issue? They did knock a day's rental off for my near death experience and several nights of poor sleep, but I wouldn't repeat this adventure. read more

service was terrible,,one lady on the counter looking after 5 sets of people waiting for their motor home.Did not get mine till 3:45pm not much daylight in sept to get anywhere,,,heater would only work for 2 hours even though I was plugged in.Sewage or grey water tank seal was defective so when I removed the cap I got 3 cups of I dont know what on my foot.Yes I did not pull the valve openers before I removed the cap.Then on the way into town I took a rock in the windshield which did produce a dime cised bruise on the bottom part of the windshield so I was I had $350.00 deducted from my damage deposit.You pay a big penalty if you are 1 hour late returning the vehicle but when you return it 22 hrs early they give you nothing.Strongly recommend using anyone else than these guys. read more

Cruise Canada Calgary, C15 model, Identification Y51255 BC plated but Odometer in miles?????- 2 adults We rented the RV from May 14 to May 28, 2016. Picked up in Calgary.It was our first time RVing... We got there a little early and we were told we would have to wait for our RV for an hour... And 15 minutes later we were told we were ready... They gave use our rental personal kits (X2) the rental chair made the tour of the exterior vehicle and send us on our ways...No check of the interior was requested and we did not even think about it either. During that waiting period I ask to rent a coffee pot and toaster but they do not have any to rent...only camping chair $10 Ech for the trip. The first bad experience happended right away...The wardrobe with our small carry on lugguage in, flew open the first turn my husband took... He did an emergency stop for me to pick up the lugguage and put them to safety on the bed. The bottom safety latch did not close properly so nothing not even a little heavy could be put into the cupboard... Our empty suitcase ended up under into the storage bin. We did our grocery shopping first planed meal spagetti with homemade sauce... Can of tomatoes fresh veggies and spices. Easy and yummy, other plan meal lasagna, couldn't wait to use the over or the convection micorwave... Don't forget it is our first trip in an RV.First camp site Lake louise...We hook up the water and shoreline and I started cooking... The can opener is broken. There is no oven, no convection micorwave... only the propane 3 burner or the RV, forget the lasagna. The hook up water of the RV is so used that we had to ask for plyers to another camper to be able to unhook the next day. Instead of keeping to tell our story this way I will just list the thinks that did not work with this rental otherwise it will be a book : -toilet seat broken, slide from side to side when sitting down -no sink plug -screen door does not close and stay close (had to tight the screw on the latch to fix it) -bed is very dirty had to wash the whole bed before we could sleep in. -flat sheet does not stay in place on the rubber finish of the mattress. -The kitchen blind was discusting, bpought rag and cleaner to clean it...eurkkkkkkk -Dead bolt doesn't work properly, had ton pull on door to be able to close it when inside and shoulder press the door to close when outside -every latch of then storage bins do not work properly -Fresh water refill broken off -broken bathroom door and broken door knob -broken chair -broken cupboard cylinder near the top bed above the chair -the lock under the cook plate broke off the first time I opened it -the shower was filty -The bathroom fan was very dirty -carbon monoxyde detector went on everytime we used the heater and would not reset -had to call in the assistance. - the smoke detector went off everytime you cook no matter if you have the fan on or not above the cooking plate -no mope into the RV to clean the floors... I Hand washed the floors -the broom provided is for Munch King not real people... it is really small -sewer hose is way too short had to park RV very close to be able to use the services on camp ground, some service on our camping couldn't be use, as there were no way to park close enough to use them. We had to go to dump station on camping....but paid for full services... -sewage storage hose area is a pain to use, hose doesn't g0o back into it easy... -sewage hose leaks all over the place and on the person doing the empting, discusting -sewage door of storage doesn't close properly -after 4 days of uses the check engine light went on. We had drove from Calgary to Banff (126 km) and from there to Lake Louise (62 km) and the light when on...Never had fuel yet -4 days later the fuel cap check lighted too... - the smoke detector stopped working even if we changed the battery -no generator on board -the roof leaked in the bathroom over the shower and in the cockpit over bed -very dusty under seat...being allergic to dust i was really unconfortable and did not know why until then... -under the cooking plate very discusting,very dirty, dryed food etc...eurk -light of black water stays on 1/2- ¾ full even when just emptied . -fresh water hose leakes from both ended...had to buy tefflon And to top it all the odometer and mileage are in miles not kilometer....Heu we rented the RV in CANADA... We uses kilometer here.. Personal Kit costs $55 per person, for the duration of the trip. It includes a comforter, pillow, pillowcase, flat sheet, bath towel, washcloth and dishtowel. On the rental picture in the rental office, they show two towels we had only one each one washcloth in one kit and none in the other and the dishtowel were very small 15X30 cm or 6X12 inches.The conforter had long blond hair on mine and long black hair on my husband..I have short white hair due to sickness treatment so....
