We went here last night for our 10th anniversary. We started at the bar with martinis and calamari. Loved both, the calamari was perfectly fried and came with a lightly spiced aioli. We then went to a table. Hubs had the Cowboy Tenderloin which was cooked medium rare as requested. It was flavorful and tender. I had the Seaside Pasta Citron with mussels, scallops and shrimp on pappardelle pasta. The flavors were great and the scallops fork tender. We were told that the restaurant has been sold. Changes may start mid January. So if you want to try these dishes go soon. The server didn't know what would stay/change. read more

came to cr's the restaurant for dinner on a blizzard evening, and sat at the bar. it's a cozy lodge ambiance and anne & adam provided great service. i started with the rich girl drink (gin) and we ordered the scallops and roasted duck breast on their valentine's day weekend special menu. the scallops were amazing with the sweet potato puree, the corn was better than expected but the broccolini was plain and difficult to eat. the duck was okay, wasn't prepared the best, but the risotto was much better. i loved their blueberry limoncello drop. scallops 8.6/10 roasted duck 6.2/10 rich girl: 8.5/10 blueberry limoncello drop: 9/10 very comfortable ambiance, great service, overall it's worth checking out. ambiance: 4.5/5 food: 3.7/5 drinks: 4.4/5 service: 5/5 cr's the restaurant: 4.4/5 read more

Always great food, service and for us, gluten free options. They have yummy drinks too!

If I could give no stars I would. I bought my father a gift card for $100. He took his wife there for a nice dinner. When they got the check, they were informed that they are not accepting gift cards that day. Is that even legal? I paid cash for the gift card. It should be just as good as cash. They refused to accept it. He will never go back, I will never go back. Everyone I talked to says they will never go there because of this. Don't sell gift cards if you are not going to accept them. Bad business all the way around. Not worth it, poorly run business. read more

We've been coming to CR's for Christmas Eve dinner several years now, as it's one of the nicer restaurants in the seacoast region of NH, particularly when considering its beautiful upscale lodge decor and Christmas decorations. In addition, we've dined there several times for lunch and dinner on special occasions. However, this may unfortunately be our last Christmas Even dinner there after a truly horrible experience. We had booked a 6:00 PM reservation and arrived a few minutes early, roughly 5:55PM. We were told our table wasn't ready and could choose to have dinner at a high-top table in the bar or get drinks at the bar while we waited. Bar atmosphere wasn't exactly what we envisioned for Christmas Eve, and my dad's hips could not handle a stool, so that was quickly nixed. But to not block the doorway, we did order drinks at the bar while we waited... and waited... and waited. We saw NUMEROUS other parties (many of which were the same size--four) get seated before us, even ones who arrived after us. When we questioned it, the host told us either that those folks had requested a specific table, or he hadn't realized they had arrived after us (which seems like a flat-out-lie, given how long we had been waiting). We ended up waiting for our--reserved--table for FOURTY-FIVE MINUTES. We were not taken to our table until 6:45 PM, despite having a 6:00 PM reservation. What's so baffling about this is that there MUST have been 6:30 PM reservations they could have bumped to seat us sooner. Indeed, we watched them be seated. Likewise, the restaurant should have a time limit, at least on holidays, and enforce it. Because this was Christmas Eve, we didn't have the option of leaving and going anywhere else, so we were essentially being held hostage. Poor management all around. One would think that once we sat, after waiting forty-five minutes, we would get our food, or at least bread, expeditiously--but nope. It took us 15 minutes to get bread, even though we asked for it as soon as we sat. And it couldn't have been that they were baking it or anything of the sort, as it wasn't warm. We also ordered as soon as we could (as we had had plenty of time to look at the menu...) yet we did not get our entrees for an hour after sitting down at the table. And then dessert took another twenty minutes (and certainly wasn't that good). We were at the restaurant over 2.5 hours, leaving us extremely tired and annoyed on what should have been a joyous holiday. The manager came over and offered to comp our first round of drinks, which would have been nice, but we had already paid for them at the bar. So instead of refunding that transaction, or taking care of our desserts, they took off the single appetizer we had shared. Normally, I wouldn't complain about any compensation, as it's a nice gesture the restaurant doesn't have to do, but in this case it was almost insulting, given how egregious the wait time had been and how the manager teased us with a round of drinks. He then didn't come by again until after we had already paid our check, so there was nothing more we could do. Overall, a terrible, terrible experience that could have been, maybe not corrected, but improved at several steps of the way but instead got worse. This review is two stars and not lower because the food is quite decent. The calamari is honestly some of the best I've had (though the switch to a remoulade from the chili sauce is a mistake) and the duck, both times I've had it, has been good. The drinks were good and the bartenders friendly and attentive. (Though the desserts are not great; the eggnog creme Brule was runny and the mousse hardly had any flavor.) And, as I mentioned, the ambiance is fantastic. Without the bartenders, entrees, and decor, this would probably be a one-star review. read more

The service was okay. Waitress lost our initial order, she had to retake it. No biggie. BF ordered the scallops- they were not fresh. Close to being ready to throw out. They had beets with added in the meal, which really did nothing to help the dish. BF's mom ordered the lamb. She was disappointed as well. Not much meat on the bones. I had the chicken piccata. It was good, but didn't have much flavor. They had an awesome entertainer however. Overall for the money they charge for what you get is ridiculous. read more

3 stars for portion size and value 3.4 stars for taste Started with the wedge salad sub goat cheese for blue cheese. The pancetta was delivered and a nice twist to a wedge. For lunch I had the Mediterranean shrimp dish was super small and had 4 shrimp for $20. Taste was a very basic olive oil white wine coating on the spaghetti. Hubby had the salmon, wasn't a great piece as it was the tail end and he ordered it med rare but it was definitely more cooked. Lots of potential here, but it needs work. read more

ABSOLUTELY LOVED LOVED the server!! But the other .. NOT happy !!! My husband's 60th birthday. I contacted you many times through your website and YELP. BUT arriving not happy !! Just was so disappointed from service not knowing there would be 7 of us and separate checks which I had included in my inquiries. The server knew everything I had texted so THANK YOU to the server we had!! Also bad points to NEVER responding to my messages!! Seriously $5 per slice with dessert.. that I inquired about cakes being brought in $5.0o per slice even if it was a 7 already sliced cheesecake To me I felt as if I was putting the staff out when I had reached out to CR'S actual site and Open Table . Not my fault that you don't look at messages. It's too bad we had this experience here . Normally it's our go to and was really wishing it would be such a nice go to for my husband's go to for his 60th birthday. I will share this review . But would really like to say nothing wrong with our server who had READ ALL NOTES I had wrote !! read more

11/27/21: LOVE CR's Restaurant! CR's was literally steps from our hotel. CR's is very romantic and cozy. The interior has rustic decor along with fireplaces. CR's was decked out with wonderful Christmas decor! Our server brought over water and the yummiest of petite breads. The restaurant did have a lovely wine list. However, I opted for a Pomegranate Mocktail that was a little sweet, but good. We shared Clam chowder, Crab cakes and a very large Greek salad. The Crab cakes were Huge and Fabulicious!!' The Greek salad was so large, that we brought it back to the hotel. The food is phenomenal!!!! Restaurant prices are a little on the pricey side, but totally worth it!!!!!! A large parking lot is available. Definitely recommend CR's!!! read more

3 Thanksgivings ago, we came here and the food was very good. About a year ago...we went back (not Thanksgiving) and the meal was okay. My then BF, now husband ordered the scallops. He was previously in the seafood business and was not happy about the meal. Scallops were not fresh and probably should have been tossed out the day before. Fast forward to this past Thanksgiving and we were a group of 6. Almost everyone at the table ordered the Thanksgiving turkey plate. The turkey was overly salty. Hardly no gravy. The stuffing...meh. Nothing special about it at all. And for the cost...come on. The service was impeccable...so that hasn't changed. But the food...No, We won't be going back. read more

Used to be very good. Went to dinner tonight and I wasn't impressed. For this price point it should be better. My pasta was undercooked and the sauce was very sweet. My husband has schnitzel and it was full of raw garlic ( this isn't how this dish should be prepared). They should ask for feedback and make some adjustments. read more

Recently dined at CR's after having dined there several times over the years. The restaurant is in our general area and we often go to their bar and have appetizers, Two in our party had the tenderloin that was AWFUL!!! Was tough, overcooked and didn't even taste like beef!!! One other in our party had the Chicken Picatta that was just OK. I will admit their clam chowder if fabulous!!! Something is going on here and the prices are still up there! read more

My first time here and my expectations were high. Approaching the building I could see a high end ambiance and in fact it was. Service was prompt and professional. The center cut filet mignon was on the mark as well as the wine list. Everything that I wanted. Unfortunately- the live music on a Friday night was a horrendous and ruined the experience for me. I was tempted to pay them double their nightly take to stop playing and go home. It was so bad I left with a headache. To the owner/manager - please consider what value add this brings to your establishment and its customers. read more

Fine dining, a bit pricey, but perfect for a special night. Love the bar area for a more casual dinner.

Perfect for our wedding Anniversary! The food was outstanding starting with mussels, never had any so good, Ahi tuna was so tender and perfectly seared we didn't need a knife, drinks were excellent with the perfect amount of alcohol, not a weak drink at all. The dessert actually was a gift from the restaurant to celebrate our special day. Our wait person, Janice was fun with a great personality and definitely professional. This was our first experience and we will be going back! Thank you!! read more

We came to the restaurant after our elopement. The staff was extremely friendly and professional. The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful. The food was amazing. For Father's Day, my wife and daughter picked CR's as my treat and what a treat it was!! CR's owner also ran CR Sparks in Bedford, NH and Hanover Chop House in Manchester, NH...both great restaurants although sadly CR Sparks has been closed for several years...sold to a Lexus dealership. For drinks my wife went with the Pama Cosmo, my daughter had the Elderflower Fizz and I had the Black Walnut Old Fashion, my new favorite drink if your a bourbon lover like myself...see my pic of cocktail menu. All the drinks were delicious and well presented. For Appetizers: Crab Tower, Lobster Wontons (Awesome!) and 1/2 dozen oysters on the half-shell for myself....all very yummy. Hint Hint...order the lobster wontons! For Dinner: I went with the blackened swordfish special, my wife and daughter shared the shrimp crusted halibut with a side of house gnocchi & pesto cream sauce..all were absolutely delicious! Finally for desert, we decided on the blueberry crisp with lavender ice cream special...now my wife makes an awesome apple crisp in the fall and this is my 1st blueberry crisp & it was unique, well presented and 2 Thumbs Up! I also want to mention our waiter, Justin, did a great job!!...friendly, professional and attentive. When our dinners came out too early since we still working on our apps....he had then sent back to the kitchen and we served new meals after the apps were cleared from the table. Now that is what I consider great service...Well Done Justin!! CR's is in my opinion is a solid 5 Star restaurant and definitely recommend it for an enjoyable & memorable dining experience. Enjoy!! read more

My wife and I stopped by here for lunch on a quiet Friday before Easter. While the restaurant design and upkeep are absolutely beautiful the service and food are incredibly underwhelming. From the moment we were greeted we had the feeling we'd be turned away from the absolutely empty restaurant since we didn't have a reservation. Since only 2 other tables had customers we were able to squeeze in. The lackluster service began with an iced tea that was as cloudy as the Merrimack River on a summer day. I asked for a coke instead. What appeared next was a 8 oz coke. Since it was so small I waited until my entrée arrived to start imbibing and only discovered that it was flat as could be. Unfortunately our server never came back around to check on us until it was time for the check. Somewhere along the way I asked for water that came but was never refilled. My burger was tasty but the bun to meat ratio was skewed to too much bread. The burger came dry with only LTOP and no mustard, mayo and only ketchup for the fries. Again, I asked for the things but has the sense I was inconveniencing our server. Service is what separates restaurants of this ilk and the likes of fast causal. Sadly service is what absolutely wrecked this meal. No inquiries about the murky tea. No asking if we needed our water refiled. No checking to see if we needed anything after our entrees arrived and no follow up before the check arrived. I would be a bit more understanding if they were even the slightest bit busy but that was far from the case during this sleepy lunchtime service. read more

Went there to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was phenomenal. We've been there many times and while we've had many good meals, this past week was a cut above. All meals were beautifully presented, cooked perfectly and delicious. AP many interesting and unique flavors. We went deep on the appetizers. The fried artichokes, and the wagyu meatballs were both a wonderful start, but it was the Tater tots took 1st prize on the apps. Dinner entries were great. Steak, salmon and fish special were all fabulous. And the pear cobbler was a perfect finish. We will be back sooner rather than later. read more

The food and the service were outstanding. My wife and I enjoyed our meals and will be returning. It was a nice break from the more casual spots at the beach. read more

This place is clearly trying to cater for the premium end of the spectrum, an aspiration that is ever-so-slightly tarnished by their lack of an enforceable dress code. So for example, although the couple on one side of us were wearing dinner jacket and classy dress, the group on the other side of the room were clad in T-shirts and shorts and looked as if they'd just left the beach. Really people, if you're going to dine at an upmarket restaurant like this, you could at least make an effort to dress for the occasion. However that aside, the service is very attentive without being overbearing, the decor is pleasant enough with some attention being paid to the lighting, which although a bit dated looking is at least warm and inviting. As for the food.... For starters, I chose the sesame-rubbed tuna, a mouth-wateringly good sushi with avocado-tomato salsa and grapefruit dressing - just exquisite! Next I opted for the halibut, which is served on a bed of roasted Brussels sprouts and black lentils with an almond dressing; a combination that worked better than it sounded and really complemented the fish nicely. I would definitely say this was one of the gastronomic highlights of our trip. read more

Tenderloin was choice not prime. No flavor. Not worth $52. Waitress was great though.

On a recent first-time visit, the two of us found excellent food and service. Crispy salmon and the duck duo entrees with accompanying sides on the plate were full of flavor, prepared correctly to our medium well-done request, plated attractively. Maybe not quite a five-star kitchen you'd find in Boston, say, but for this region, very good. The interior where we sat is muted with plenty of dark wood and spot lighting that creates sort of an upscale pub ambiance. (Some other areas are surrounded by windows and plenty of ambient daylight.) Only big criticism, and this is big in my book, is the piped-in music that saturated the dining rooms. Way too loud, way wrong type (mostly rock hits,) and really annoying. Time to take the music menu away from the receptionists or whomever calls the shots! You walk into what appears to be a very classy restaurant, with menu prices to match, and you have to listen to junk? Quiet jazz or an appropriate classical background would be a huge improvement. The too-loud junk music is enough to make this couple look for a quieter environment in a fine dining establishment -- and there are plenty of those around within minutes. read more

CR's offers a cozy, fire lit, serenaded environment with incredible service. Our waitress was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable and more than willing to entertain our numerous "swap out" requests and menu questions. The food was good, but I would dare to say that the drinks surpassed the meal. The holiday sangria and dirty martinis were made to perfection. The meat with the pork belly appetizer was superb, but the spare rib was incredibly tough and hard to eat, though the flavor was rich. Deserts would phenomenal as well. read more

Met a friend here for dinner, drinks and conversation. We sat at the bar I ordered a house Chardonnay, she ordered a glass of Pinot Noir by name-she had been there before. We sat a chatted and laughed for over 3 hours! I had the ravioli and she had the chicken piccata. I had 3 glasses of wine and she had 2 our bill was $195 dollars! I didn't want to embarrass myself or her so I paid the bill left a generous tip. Looking at the bill after I got home I noticed they charged me $25 for each glass of house chardonnay. I called and spoke to a manager who explained they didn't have a house wine! I wished I had been told that- I would have ordered a bottle! Will not be coming back here! $75 for 3 glasses of J Lohr is out of control! This bottle sells for $22.99 at the State Liquor Store. I know there is a mark up but this is robbery. This place charges Boston prices -for a place with no views on a back road in the middle of nowhere! Place was not busy at all-people must have got the news-too pricey read more

We went to this place on a whim as we had gotten off the highway and we're looking for a restaurant still open during Covid. CRs fit the bill. They were fortunate enough to get in on a very busy Saturday night. The place was swanky, Clean and definitely upscale for the Hampton area. We had a lovely waitress beautiful staff and the menu was pretty extensive and had a lot of interesting options. I was very excited to see the schnitzel On the menu. I also had a Caesar salad which was good but way too big and enormous on the plate. The wine selection was good. I would definitely be dressed up for this establishment. Even at the bar it was Business casual. Even with all of the ambience and added touches the chefs had a hard time cooking a real authentic Wiener schnitzel. It was a disappointment but everything else was quite a plus. Be sure to bring your credit card as this place is not cheap. read more
