We had an absolutely awful meal here. The steamers were full of grit (and the restaurant didn't even give you real butter to dip them in - they give you some butter-flavored oil like the kind you get at the movie theatre for your popcorn). My husband's stuffed fish was way overcooked. My son's seafood in white sauce over pasta was absolutely tasteless and my stuffed shrimp looked unappetizing (the stuffing was dark brown, consisted of only breadcrumbs with no crabmeat at all and had a hard crust from being overcooked). The restaurant was packed, however... a testament, no doubt, to their large portions and fairly reasonable prices. If you love large portions of bad food, then this is the place for you. read more

"Call ahead seating" usually means you call ahead, and get seated when you get there. If you tell your customers when they get there on time for their reservation that they'll have to wait at least an additional half hour... why bother calling ahead? We were looking for a nice seafood restaurant for lunch after an appointment in Warwick, and happened upon this place. We were greeted as we entered, and were promptly seated. Our waitress was cheerful and took our orders. My wife ordered the lobster roll, and I had the scallop roll. The portions were large, and everything was prepared to perfection. My wife thought her roll was one of the best she had ever had. My roll was made with the bay scallops and were tender and sweet. The French fries were great. We were trying to find an alternate route home because we had run into construction backups on the way down, so we needed to get a map from AAA. We asked our waitress if there was an office in the area. She wasn't sure, but checked with other staff. She then came back with directions to the office, and even drew us a map. She was very helpful, and went above and beyond helping us. She was cheerful, efficient and friendly. We certainly will stop here again if we are in the area. read more

My wife got a $5 birthday coupon email so we tried it out. The place was clean, good service, food and portions were ok, prices are a little above average. Overall the place was average but the kicker was the waitress would not take the $5 coupon?? She said we didn't print it correctly so when we got home I checked it and I was right, printed exactly what they sent us. They screwed us $5 so out of principle we won't be back!! I would give the crows nest a 5 star because it's one of my favorite restaurants but everytime I go there they run out of the broccoli o Groton.... this isn't just once or twice it's like 20-30 times in the past 20 years. Terrible Experience, what happened to Crow's Nest? Tuesday evening July 17th we went to Crow's Nest in Warwick with our friends from Florida anticipating a nice dinner. Were we disappointed. First, we ordered cocktails and my first impression was they had to be joking. The martini glass had maybe a 1/2 oz of liquor poured over the lemon twist. The side car was maybe half full. I am used to a full Martini glass and full side car at other restaurants we patronize. If we had been by ourselves I would have sent them back to the bar and said forget the drinks. We ordered calamari and when it came out it was so unappetizing I did not bother to eat it. Those who did thought it might have been previously frozen. The biggest disappointment was the main course when we ordered the baked stuffed lobsters. Our server said there were five lobsters left and there were four of us, so we thought we were fine. Not so, our server should have said we have boiled lobsters available, not baked stuffed. When served our lobsters were soaking wet, full of water and lobster fat, the stuffing was luke warm. It was obvious these lobsters had not been in an oven for long if at all. These were not baked stuffed lobsters and were not at all appealing with all of the liquids. Even the French fries were bad, not cooked? Considering we spent over $200 for dinner it was disgusting. This was the worst restaurant experience that I have had in over 10 years. I have eaten here many times and I think the food is really good. You can't go wrong with the fish n chips. The service is always great and the food is consistent. Prices aren't bad either. This is a place my family has been coming to for many years. When I was younger, the entire restaurant was the size of the current bar. We come to this place for some good ole fashion RI-style seafood. If you are looking for a fancy steak, this isn't the restaurant for you. But if you want baked scrod with butternut squash or clam cakes and chowder, I'd recommend giving this place a whirl. If your enjoyment of food is influenced by the age of the surrounding tables, then I'd support previous yelper comments that this place attracts my grandmother's best friends. For me, that's one of the signs of a good place where people have been frequenting an establishment for many years and have continued to support the restaurant as it grows and changes. This place is really good. My litmus test is calamari. It is not easy to get properly cooked calamari, and even when it's cooked properly, 1 minute under a heat lamp and it's toast. They got it right. I also had a classic RI Stuffie, Red Chowder, and Baked Stuffed Shrimp. All were great, well prepared, and served hot. The shrimp is a rich dish. I got the 5 to share with my daughter, and could never have finished it on my own. And I'm a BIG eater! $63 for a party of 3 for 3 courses, can't beat it. Service was very attentive. Finally got a chance to get here and I was pretty surprised at how good this place is. The location is great, right by the harbor. They have a very large menu, a lot of options and something for everyone. We ordered calamari for the table. It was very tasty, it seemed to have minced garlic on it, which gave it great flavor. Not too greasy either. There are a lot of seafood and steak options. And also New England classics, like the roast turkey dinner which I ordered. I got a huge plate of nice white meat roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing with gravy along with cranberry sauce and for my choice of side I opted for the broccoli au gratin. Dinner tonight was not up to the usual standard at Crows Nest. My wife ordered the bake stuffed lobster and it was overcooked. Lobster was stuck to the inside of the claws and was very tough.I ordered the prime rib rare and it came out medium with a red center on top the bottom of the rib was brown.Tasted like it was left over microwaved. We stopped by the Crows Nest after Kayaking on a Friday. Sat at the bar and had fantastic Bloody Mary and then a Grey Goose martini with dinner. (Can't go wrong for $6.50 for a Grey Goose martini). My husband had the baked stuffed shrimp and I had my all time favorite, whole belly fried clams. Everything was fantastic and with such large portions and all the sides includes, we had extra to take home. Went to the crows nest a while back. Located on the outskirts of Warwick. If your looking for a place of amazing seafood and a great price it's best you go here. I went here twice and both times I went I got the same thing because it was so good the first time and I paid the perfect price for the meal. Their special was a half lobster roll and half soup combo with some crab cakes to snack on. The lobster roll was so fresh and so tasty and the signature clam chowder was perfect. Recently we ordered the chix parm and the chix was soooo overcooked that it tasted like rubber. (Can you chew through rubber?) You couldn't chew through this chix. It is disappointing because this place is always busy and so you know the money is abundant, they cant ensure that 2 meals are edible? Worse meal of my life!!! Ordered their signature swordfish and it was extremely dry and fishy tasting, obviously not fresh nor cooked properly. The waiter never came back to check on our meal and when he finally did come around to give us our check some 20 minutes after serving us I told him and he did not offer anything at all! What a total disappointment this place was, such a nice location and a huge crowd, had to wait 40 min to be seated, but awful food and terrible service. Greeted at first by the overwhelming smell of seafood and grease. We almost immediately left, but as we were a large group and it was getting late..we stayed. The place was essentially empty except for one table and despite they could have sat us anywhere they squeezed us into the corner directly next to and inches next to the only other people in the room. The waitress was sweet and attentive. The food was good one lady in our group ordered a lobster roll and it was large and full of lobster. I liked that the chicken parmesan was crisp and the sauce was not "faux Italian" one person did have to send her burger back for being over cooked, but the fixed it quickly. Great place to stop in for Clam Cakes, ChowDah and a drink. The rest of the menu is full of the New England favorites. The shrimp scampi is flavorful and they do not skimp on the shrimp. The traditional lobster roll is market price, but you get TONS of lobster. I had the baked stuffed shrimp and the filling was good, but not the best. Stick with Twin Oaks, theirs is the best in my opinion. It's a little pricey, but you could split a plate if your stomach doesn't want to expand to take it all in.
