I have had good meals here before, but yesterday was a great disappointment. Steak was well done, sent it back. When came back, potatoes and broccoli cold. It had already taken @ 20 minutes for food, so ended up eating the steak without sides (basically, not a meal) while waiting for the sides again AND the steak was tough, I had to work to cut it. Manager brought a salad while I was waiting the first time and then brought a cannoli afterwards. However, they still wanted to charge me for a "meal" that I didn't get all at once and had to send back TWICE (at $34). I got a look when I asked for something taken off the check. My friend was irate that they didn't take the whole thing off. At this point I was so annoyed that our "special" Mother's Day lunch was such a disappointment and just wanted to get out. While I was in the restroom, my friend said something to the waitress and was told that they gave me a salad and a cannoli to make up for it. REALLY, a $34 entree meal was basically ruined and a salad (after already waiting 20 minutes for food - I was very hungry) and a cannoli after should make up for that??? I get mistakes happen. I've been in the restaurant industry a long time. BUT, I should not have been charged, even though I did eat the steak. I was HUNGRY, otherwise I wouldn't have eaten at all. And I definitely shouldn't have been given a dirty look when I asked for at least something taken off (they took $15 off AFTER I asked). I've given away MANY free meals in my restaurant career - to make up for bad service. NEVER have I had to send an entree back TWICE. This place is always busy, great view, and the food situation may have been a fluke. But, in my opinion, I should not have been charged, even with the salad and cannoli. And definitely shouldn't have been given a look when I asked. read more

Brought an out-of-town business guest from TN here recently. He had the swordfish special. I had been craving scallops so got them baked with sides of cole slaw and fries. Though disappointed they only have the small bay scallops, the dish satisfied my craving. We sat by the window and it was quiet enough to have a nice conversation. There's just something so reliable and pleasant about this place. Introduced this restaurant to my best friend in MA and next time she was down she returned on her own. I think it's become one of my favorite RI restaurants. read more

We scheduled a memorial dinner at The Crows Nest for today. From beginning to end, it was a fantastic experience. The food, the service, the decor, and Katelyn, the event coordinator: everything was top notch. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you! read more

Sea scallops, instead of bay scallops ,Waiter was obnoxious thought he was funny but he clearly wasn't

Visited crows nest for the first time. Fresh seafood in a lively atmosphere. Attentive waitstaff. Went on a Friday and was happy to learn all of the apps and raw bar were half price 3-5pm. It appears the same owners as Massimo's providence own it as their same delicious cocktail choices were available here! Blood orange cosmos are the BEST! We tried shrimp cocktail (delish) the cocktail sauce was a tad spicy with the horseradish. we also tried the tuna tower, coconut shrimp and the clam cakes and chowder. The tuna tower was topped with seaweed - our favorite. The coconut shrimp was pretty good I probably wouldn't get them again , somewhat more oily that I'd like. The clam cakes were a little bland but of course tasty "dunked" in chowder! Chowder was pretty plentiful with clams. crows nest is worth your time to check out! read more

Found this place while sightseeing. It is a quiet little restaurant with plenty of parking. They offer a variety of menu options. Their clam chowder was delicious. We had several items and they were all very good. Highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Great food great service clean atmosphere. Seafood always fresh and delicious. I've also taken out food and just as good

Emma was fantastic! We had such a great meal and excellent service. Our party of 20 was very well taken care of. Crows nest will take care of your big party. The food was absolutely fantastic. read more

An old school family seafood house planted far off the beaten path in the middle of a working Rhode Island marina with an active bar scene at noon. Confession can wait till tomorrow because the locals want their holy water on draught today. I like what I see and I haven't even been seated yet. The Crow's Nest isn't some sea shanty wannabe with a few artfully distressed nautical bric a brac thrown against the wall, this place is a weather beaten masterpiece that serves up simple hearty fare like pot pies and chowder (chowwdahh to the locals) that are second to none. Alright, they had no idea Thousand Island dressing was a staple of a great Reuben but that only added to the charm and the ambiance. A new favorite next time I'm in Little Rhody. read more

So sad but the Crows Nest's time is over. The ambiance is nice espically with is new nice outside bar and patio, but not enough to make up for now overpriced mediocre food and ambivalent service. I have been going here for 45 years, at times twice a week! Servers were long term and knew your name and everything on the menue food was consistently very good, a rarity!! I wrote a review a year ago, met the owner who took some of my recommendations, improved a bit. Unfortunately, it is now at its worst. My family gave up on it a while back but gave it a few more trys. Tonight's meal got me to pack it in. Side salad was embarrassingly small and rolls were leftover reaheated ones. Swordfish kebab, my girlfriends favorite dish before and which she ate often, was so fatty it was inedible. The manager took a whopping $5 off the $24 entree price but did so with attitude and in a somewhat impolitely way. People may forget an occasional off meal but they never forget how you make them feel. Good bye to one of my former long time favorite RI places. As at alternate I recommend Ritrovo Bar and Grill not far down the road. read more

The restaurant's renovations make the place look clean and contemporary. It's nice to see familiar faces from the original staff such as Hunter at the bar. He goes above and beyond to make sure customers are happy. The menu has changed slightly to include a few new delicious additions. However, it no longer includes some classic Crow's Nest staples such as the stuffed mushrooms, pickled beets, and prime rib. I'll gladly switch my review to 5 stars if those are brought back as well as the transient docking slips. read more

It's been my first time visiting under new management, I made reservations for a party of 3, me and my boyfriend and his mother, we ordered clam cakes, I had baked scrod with steamed broccoli and mashed potatoes with a side salad, my boyfriend had fish and chips, his mother had chicken parmesan with pasta, I had a sangria, my boyfriend had a Budweiser, his mother had a diet coke, we enjoyed our meal, our meal was expensive but we'll worth it every penny, the waitress was polite she was awesome, we will be back read more

Wait staff was very accommodating however the white clam chowda was extremely fishy, clam cakes were burnt, clams casino was all bread not clams, broccoli casserole had raw and semi cooked broccoli. PRICES ARE WAY TOO HIGH FIR TGE QUALITY OF FOOD. NO I DO NOT RECOMMEND read more

Once again, another very enjoyable dinner at Crow's Nest. The three of us began with the very lovely and tasty house salad accompanied by the infamous rolls which were as I understand always served by the original owners. This evening we brought our very particular relative who loved the house salad and truly enjoyed his baby scallop platter with coleslaw and broccoli au gratin. Hubby adores the salmon dish with roasted pepper aioli, served with his choices of the butternut squash and broccoli au gratin. And there is not another restaurant currently which has broiled scrod prepared the way I love it - lots of extra crispy and tasty cracker crumbs along with vegetables cooked based upon my request. Although it was another rainy night in June, we did enjoy the attractive patio and the rain held off until we were ready to leave. I definitely want to add that anyone who has not tried Crow's Nest currently is really missing out on phenomenal food and superb service with a smile. read more

We had a reservation and were seated immediately on a Sunday afternoon. The wait person arrived soon after and took our drink order. 10 to 15 minutes later they come back, realizes they forgot our drinks, turns around, comes back to tell us that they didn't forget our drinks and they'll be back. Meanwhile the tables around us have water, bread and utensils and we have nothing. Got our drinks and ordered our food. Food comes, we ask for water and utensils. It was a very slow lunch. The food itself was good. The stuffies are especially good. The lobster roll was fine, but I've received more generously filled lobster rolls in nearby Narragansett. All around it was a good experience, but nothing that will draw me back again soon. read more

Had an order of steamers and a baked stuffed lobster. I was in heaven. Sarah was a great host the the food was fantastic. Crows Nest is always my first stop when visiting from Florida. Looking forward to my next trip. read more

Althea is amazing. Food is absolutely delicious every one should try it and don't look back

I lived nearby for a few years so this was my go to spot for seafood. They have a nice view of the bay and love their nautical decor. This place definitely gets packed in the evenings and on weekends. There's lots of regulars and elderly people eating there because the food is good! I always get the usual New England clam chowder and any seafood dish pretty much; a favorite for me is the baked stuffed cod, it's super delicious. The service is good, no complaints and our food comes out at a decent time. If you're in the mood for seafood, check this place out. For the non seafood lovers, they have other dishes to choose from too. The parking lot is kind of small, so get there early to get decent parking. Oh and another favorite is the fish and chips! Check it out! read more

Jill was a very attentive server. We needed to eat quickly to catch a flight and she made sure we got our food ASAP. Excellent service and food. Will visit again! read more

Last night I had some pretty decent seafood at this off the beaten path, old school seafood spot. For a Tuesday, the place was full. No seats left at the bar and the lady bartender was very overwhelmed- but she managed to keep up. Lots of locals, and they all were on first name basis. Interesting to listen to the conversation, most of them were in there mid 50's or so.... I went with the baked seafood platter. The dinner salad was pretty standard, looked fresh and was a decent size portion. Everything has a Ritz cracker crust, I guess that is a New England thing. See my picture. I really like the shrimp and crab dish (I think). The creamy buttery Ritz topping is really terrific. I don't really know what Scrod is, but the fish was tasty, it actually tasted like Ritz, lol. I ordered a side of clams, just because the whole belly are hard to find where I come from. I ordered the large, which was a mistake, with the platter, and me being one person, I probably should have done the small. The lady next to me ordered a red clam chowder. It was interesting, not a heavy cream based soup. It smelled great. I have not ever heard of the red version. I will have to try it next time. read more

Right on the waterfront, bet the outdoor seating is great in summer. We did take out on an extremely rainy Saturday night. Staff checked with us as soon as we came in. Food was excellent, the whole belly clams were cooked perfectly, and the lobster mac-n-cheese also got great reviews. I'm giving 5 stars because even with a 15 minute ride back to the rental it was good, and I'm guessing fresh in the restaurant it's even better. read more

What a disappointing fathers day lunch visiting my son that lives right down the road I told him that I wanted seafood for lunch he said that he heard good things about the crows nest. I ordered the fried whole belly clams and scallops was surprised when the plate arrived first the tarter sauce was pre packaged (Kens) not good the whole clams were pathetic chewy and few bellies but the worst was I was expecting sea scallops I got a horrible bunch of bay scallops. The menu stated mrkt price so I was willing to pay for the best if your going to serve bay scallops it should say it on the menu I did say something to the waiter and he just shrugged it off read more

Surprisingly so good. Updated interior. Nice views. And very solid food that pleases all ages.

I have never had an experience in my life like this. White clam chowder was good. I saw a manager grab one of her waitresses hair, the waitress then pushed her hand off of her. The manager then proceeds to throw a fit, asking the waitress if she needed to go home. I felt so bad. I have never seen a manager yell and throw a fit in front of the restaurant. It was embarrassing and childish. What happened to keeping your hands to yourself? I also enjoyed the fish tank, it gave a pretty look to the place. read more

I was planning on going to Iggy's but my hotel (the NYLO) suggested Crow's Nest and my shuttle bus driver took me there. I was grateful for the ride because it was nighttime and I've been driving all day and the Crow's Nest is off the beaten path. I wish I had been there during the day to see the view as it is along the scenic waterfront of Appounaug Cove I had the lobster roll combo - Half lobster roll with clam chowder and clam cakes. Lots of food and very delicious! I paired it with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. They do a very generous wine pour for only $7.50 Kris was my server. She is super friendly, knowledgeable and efficient!! read more

After they sold quality has not been the same and there famous broccoli au gratin is mushy now and not as good. Prime rib lost some of its spices. Chowda is good but not always hot!! Think new ownership is trying to hard to make Apponaug cove federal hill!! We are not nor do we want federal hill here on the water in Apponaug!! Some of the wait staff is the same and that has been a lifesaver! read more

Nice setting. Server was very pleasant and efficient. Fried platter greasy. Some wilted lettuce for a garnish. Ken's tartar sauce. Cole slaw below average. Onion rings greasy. Realize the scallops are bay not sea; the menu doesn't say. Fried clams over cooked, tough and shriveled. read more

What a great place! Overlooking the water with wonderful homemade delicious food at a great price. Service was wonderful! I had a garden salad with homemade Italian dressings which was perfect... not to tangy and the green's where fresh. Hubby and I split the stuffiee and it wast very good and not to salty... wonderful flavor. They have smaller portions of there main dishes so you can enjoy the apps and not fell overfull. For the main I got the boneless fried chicken homemade mashed and coleslaw.. very fresh! Try this place out. I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

We had a reservation and were seated promptly with a water view. However, the food was disappointing. The clam chowder was full of potatoes mostly, very few clams. Same with the clam cakes. Never had them before but visiting RI so thought I should try them. So I really don't have anything to compare them to. But they were pretty bland and didn't really have any clam taste. My friend ordered the clam roll and was also disappointed. read more

Service was good..but the food was awful. Crows Nest was always our go-to but has been going downhill for a few years, with a new head chef changing up the quality going with a lot of frozen foods a few years back. With new ownership we thought we would give it another chance... One in our party had special dietary needs and found out the head chef from federal hill isn't there on weekends (!) So I see where they put this place...the calamari is frozen, the crumb stuffing for the baked stuff shrimp is more like a tasteless paste and the clams with spaghetti was more like a soup with the amount of clam broth served and made the clams mushy/over cooked. The stars are for our server Jess who was very attentive and tried her best to make heads or tails of the menu items for our diner with allergies. read more

10/10 for food, service and ambiance! This was our first time back since the renovation and boy were we impressed by the new decor and outdoor space. We hosted a wonderful family dinner for 12.
