I was visiting RI and staying near the airport. I was looking for a place to take my mom for birthday lunch and found this hidden gem! I was able to get most of my RI favs in one spot. I ordered a dirty martini and it was perfect!. Mom had the fish and chips and it was delicious. I had the clam cakes, chowder and 1/2 lobster roll combo.... so good!! I also has streamers. Rhode Island may be quahog country, but let me make it simple for you: Order the scallops. Order any dish with scallops. The lobster looks fine, the clams are good enough, but if you're getting full, polish off the scallops first. I have never had the tiny Bay scallops done so tenderly that they taste like Digby scallops. Perfection. The clam chowder (white of course) was okay, the clam cakes were okay, and the stuffie grew on me (a bit mushier than I like). I'm just really glad my friend left over some scallops. We had a reervation for 8 on Father's Day, I was told it would probably be two tables of four, but I requested the patio and said it would be fine. After waiting 30 minutes past our reservation time, the gentleman at the desk asked if we would like first available. I bought a fish & chip from Crow's Nest Friday, they told me that they had small ones and a large order, so I bought a small one. The fish was very small, it was good, but a very small piece of fish, the coleslaw was good too, but the French fries were awful, it cost me $17.00, I don't know how they can charge that much for a little piece of fish, and terrible fries, I think I would rather make my own, it is not worth it, for me, it is a waste of money. read more

Went to crows nest with the family after the remodel and new owners took it over and it's just not the same. Of course the food was decent but not amazing, the prices went up a bunch and it was visually appealing, but.... Just not in harmony. The food was still the same as it was 20 years ago but now with a higher price tag ‍ Fish and chips still hits tho- it's the other appetizers and such that are just blah. Stuffy was all dough and no flavor, chowder was wallpaper paste... I was hoping for better I guess. I'll go back for the fish and chips for sure. Nice wine list too! So not a terrible review, just expected the food and snacks to meet the renovations in the middle maybe. read more

Used to go all the time and just went back after the re-opening. The restaurant is completely made over and looks great! The new bar outside is awesome and has a great view of the marina. I have had good meals here before, but yesterday was a great disappointment. Steak was well done, sent it back. When came back, potatoes and broccoli cold. It had already taken @ 20 minutes for food, so ended up eating the steak without sides (basically, not a meal) while waiting for the sides again AND the steak was tough, I had to work to cut it. Manager brought a salad while I was waiting the first time and then brought a cannoli afterwards. However, they still wanted to charge me for a "meal" that I didn't get all at once and had to send back TWICE (at $34). I got a look when I asked for something taken off the check. My friend was irate that they didn't take the whole thing off. At this point I was so annoyed that our "special" Mother's Day lunch was such a disappointment and just wanted to get out. While I was in the restroom, my friend said something to the waitress and was told that they gave me a salad and a cannoli to make up for it. REALLY, a $34 entree meal was basically ruined and a salad (after already waiting 20 minutes for food - I was very hungry) and a cannoli after should make up for that??? I get mistakes happen. I've been in the restaurant industry a long time. BUT, I should not have been charged, even though I did eat the steak. I was HUNGRY, otherwise I wouldn't have eaten at all. And I definitely shouldn't have been given a dirty look when I asked for at least something taken off (they took $15 off AFTER I asked). I've given away MANY free meals in my restaurant career - to make up for bad service. NEVER have I had to send an entree back TWICE. This place is always busy, great view, and the food situation may have been a fluke. But, in my opinion, I should not have been charged, even with the salad and cannoli. And definitely shouldn't have been given a look when I asked. read more

Brought an out-of-town business guest from TN here recently. He had the swordfish special. I had been craving scallops so got them baked with sides of cole slaw and fries. Though disappointed they only have the small bay scallops, the dish satisfied my craving. We sat by the window and it was quiet enough to have a nice conversation. There's just something so reliable and pleasant about this place. Introduced this restaurant to my best friend in MA and next time she was down she returned on her own. Never had them before but visiting RI so thought I should try them. So I really don't have anything to compare them to. But they were pretty bland and didn't really have any clam taste. So sad but the Crows Nest's time is over. The ambiance is nice espically with is new nice outside bar and patio, but not enough to make up for now overpriced mediocre food and ambivalent service. I have been going here for 45 years, at times twice a week! Servers were long term and knew your name and everything on the menue food was consistently very good, a rarity!! I wrote a review a year ago, met the owner who took some of my recommendations, improved a bit. Unfortunately, it is now at its worst. My family gave up on it a while back but gave it a few more trys. Tonight's meal got me to pack it in. Side salad was embarrassingly small and rolls were leftover reaheated ones. Swordfish kebab, my girlfriends favorite dish before and which she ate often, was so fatty it was inedible. The manager took a whopping $5 off the $24 entree price but did so with attitude and in a somewhat impolitely way. People may forget an occasional off meal but they never forget how you make them feel. Good bye to one of my former long time favorite RI places. As at alternate I recommend Ritrovo Bar and Grill not far down the road. read more

Once again, another very enjoyable dinner at Crow's Nest. The three of us began with the very lovely and tasty house salad accompanied by the infamous rolls which were as I understand always served by the original owners. This evening we brought our very particular relative who loved the house salad and truly enjoyed his baby scallop platter with coleslaw and broccoli au gratin. Hubby adores the salmon dish with roasted pepper aioli, served with his choices of the butternut squash and broccoli au gratin. And there is not another restaurant currently which has broiled scrod prepared the way I love it - lots of extra crispy and tasty cracker crumbs along with vegetables cooked based upon my request. Although it was another rainy night in June, we did enjoy the attractive patio and the rain held off until we were ready to leave. I definitely want to add that anyone who has not tried Crow's Nest currently is really missing out on phenomenal food and superb service with a smile. read more

Visited crows nest for the first time. Fresh seafood in a lively atmosphere. Attentive waitstaff. Went on a Friday and was happy to learn all of the apps and raw bar were half price 3-5pm. It appears the same owners as Massimo's providence own it as their same delicious cocktail choices were available here! Blood orange cosmos are the BEST! We tried shrimp cocktail (delish) the cocktail sauce was a tad spicy with the horseradish. we also tried the tuna tower, coconut shrimp and the clam cakes and chowder. The tuna tower was topped with seaweed - our favorite. The coconut shrimp was pretty good I probably wouldn't get them again , somewhat more oily that I'd like. The clam cakes were a little bland but of course tasty "dunked" in chowder! Chowder was pretty plentiful with clams. crows nest is worth your time to check out! read more

Right on the waterfront, bet the outdoor seating is great in summer. We did take out on an extremely rainy Saturday night. Staff checked with us as soon as we came in. Food was excellent, the whole belly clams were cooked perfectly, and the lobster mac-n-cheese also got great reviews. I'm giving 5 stars because even with a 15 minute ride back to the rental it was good, and I'm guessing fresh in the restaurant it's even better. read more
