Standard Plumbing did a great job replacing my 40 gal water heater. Braulio answered questions…read moreregarding the project directly and offered advice based on their experience. Reasonably priced for the services provided. I believe Braulio went above and beyond by showing what he found with the old heater. He provided advice on how to deal with issues in the future. Walked me through the new system, what things were different from the old system and how to flush the heater. Nobody wants to deal with repairs like this, but professionals like Braulio make the process a little easier.

I can't recommend Standard Plumbing and Braulio highly enough…read more As a single mom handling this kind of stuff on my own, I'm very aware I could be easily taken advantage of price-wise - and I never once felt that with him. Braulio was straightforward, fair, and clearly knew what he was doing, which made it very easy to trust him. The first time I called, I was in full panic mode! Water from my son's shower was leaking through the ceiling downstairs and I was convinced something major was wrong. He came out quickly, took the time to actually figure out what was going on, and it turned out to be a much simpler issue than I expected. Separately, when I first bought my house, I had been told there was an issue with my fireplace and got a quote from another plumbing company that was in the thousands. When Braulio looked at it, he realized it was something much simpler and far less expensive than what I'd been told and this really stuck with me. This weekend my water heater went out, and I texted Saturday night expecting I'd hear back at some point. He responded first thing Sunday morning with clear options and pricing, no pressure, and is already scheduled to come out Monday morning with everything ready to go. He's responsive, honest, and efficient, and he just makes the whole process feel a whole lot less stressful. It's rare to find someone you can really trust, and I'm very glad I did.

Another company wanted to change out the system, but we didn't feel comfortable and needed a second opinion. We called Altruistic AC & Heating and not only was it just a switch, but it saved us three thousand dollars. I always recommend them in our housing development's Facebook group.

Altruistic Heating and Cooling exceeded our expectations during a stressful time…read more When the AC in a rental unit I manage went out during one of the hottest times of the year, I had to act quickly. After discovering that our usual AC guy was unavailable, I gathered estimates from several companies. The prices were shockingly high, so I created a detailed spreadsheet comparing different systems, pricing, discounts, rebates, and warranties. Out of all the companies, Altruistic Heating and Cooling stood out by offering the best price--thousands less than the others. They also went above and beyond by providing a portable AC unit to keep the tenants comfortable until the installation, which was a huge relief. While some companies tried to pressure me with last-minute offers and discounts, Altruistic's straightforward approach and reasonable pricing made the decision easy. They even included a free bonus service of two maintenance calls per year for four years. The installation went smoothly, and although I had to follow up to ensure the job was fully completed, Altruistic responded quickly and finished everything as promised. They had left a note in the final invoice saying, "We need to return some time (date removed) to install the flue pipe." As a property manager, I expect to handle follow-ups, so this wasn't a major issue for me. But I followed up with them to get this done before we made the payment. Although I felt Altruistic had been very trustworthy, I know people who have been burned by other companies after paying in full before the job was completed, so I wanted to make sure it was completely done. Daniel from the office contacted me, and they ensured everything was finished before I made the final payment. Overall, I'm very satisfied with Altruistic Heating and Cooling. They provided excellent service, great value, quality workmanship and their customer service was top-notch. I highly recommend them to anyone needing AC services. Follow-up: months later when winter weather arrived and the heat wasn't coming on, I called them in the evening expecting to hear back the next morning. They called me right away that evening and went out to the property first thing the next morning and fix the problem with no charge. I love it when companies do what they say they'll do and warranty their work.

I asked multiple companies for a quote and Zach was available same day. He initially didn't want to provide a quick quote without seeing everything in person, but I pleaded and he eventually gave me a range of estimates based on what he knew and they were all reasonable (relative to the Austin market) . It frustrates me as an impatient homeowner when I can't get immediate quotes, but I think the need for companies to see everything in person is probably a good sign. He doesn't want to just tell people what they want to hear to get in the door and then surprise them when the price changes because something about the project made it more difficult. He was then willing to answer my technical questions about potentially repairing my existing water heater and even some local parts stores I could look at for the components that weren't working for my existing water heater. We also talked about CoA rebates, heat pumps, and all the options for water heaters. Companies have a lot of incentive to gatekeep this kind of information and Zach was willing to just help me out as I formed a plan that took my current budget into account. I ended up replacing my own water heater, but I am a stubborn, frugal person. Zach's customer service, availability, and reasonable quotes are appreciated. If my financial situation improves, I'll probably be giving him a call next time I have plumbing needs.

Honestly the work is good...as it should be from a master plumber…read more The issue I have is the issue I've had with literally every plumber ever. They've got you over a barrel when they come out and start throwing parts. This was an install of a drop in kitchen sink and faucet. He told me his hourly rate was 135 bucks. I was expecting to spend about 400 maybe 500. The final bill was 850. I feel I was overcharged on both the parts and labor. He charged me starting 45 min before he got there but still included a "truck charge." The removal and replace of the sink took 2 hours. To me the "clock" starts on the labor at the agreed upon arrival time. When I'm getting charged 439(!) bucks for parts on top of the sink and faucet itself, that extra charge for labor is quite unwelcome. I mean the sink and faucet itself that were "nice" were like 500 bucks. So almost that again just in parts. ‍ His answer in general as I look at these reviews is that he buys his parts from a plumber supply not Home Depot etc. I would have to research each individual part to see if its price point is "fair". A perusal of solid brass fittings and pvc p traps on the Lowe's site shows the price I paid was about doubled. He acted quite insulted that I wouldn't know just how much better his parts were and implied they were all but unavailable at big box stores. literally doubling what I expected to pay was quite a shock to say the least. It is what it is. If I was able to do it myself, I would've. Live and learn Learn a trade kids lol
