It's been many years since I stayed in the Crowne Plaza and a lot. He changed some for the good and some for the bad. I really miss having a little trinkets on your pillow that lavender bed spray was nice. However, I definitely appreciate there being areas to hold small conferences and or just to have a family meal on the different floors of the hotel. I think it was a lounge area. Hotel was very clean and the service was very nice. Easy to find. read more

Don't let that 80's facade fool ya! This place deserves a Star reset. I'm told this hotel has been around "forever," but you wouldn't know once you get inside. Perhaps in the elevator, that was maybe the only place I saw how classic and old this building was. The rooms though have been renovated and are modern, spacious, and very clean. The bathroom too; tons of space, just like in the 80s! They have a huge parking lot and an open checkin area. Top notch job by IHG. Overall this is a great hotel. The beds are very comfortable and the staff is friendly. Its soo clean & even has some nice architectural touches. I like the mirrored elevators & the cute back garden. The only downside was there is no pool, so for that I took off 1 star. read more

Congratulations to Hilton Group for taking every hotel in their group, franchising them out and letting franchisees rot the building like old fruit on a vine. This hotel is a perfect example. It looks nice enough on the outside, the rooms are clean IKEA style and showers work, but that's all. Employees truly do not care about customer service and seem to enjoy grunting at residents with questions. My card "demagnetizes itself" every day. This is always desk error. They screwed up my reservation by shifting it a full day, and told me it was MY problem. No, i have a confirmation right here that says it's not my fault, and we got everything right. Oh, i can go scr*w myself and get no hotel support? Groovy. They also advertise services but the services never materialize or are outright lies (there is DEFINITELY no laundry or dry cleaning service). No room service, ancient heating - OH, the room smells like mildew at all times. I have never pasted a hotel with one star before, and I've stayed in a few true dumps. At least the dumps had the good taste to tell me they were a dump! This place is a dump with a pretty exterior. Super never coming back! read more

Horrible hotel! Driving up there is a debris on the side of the hotel. Looks like left over construction materials. Walked in no one was at the desk but a bunch of half eaten food and drinks. Very unprofessional! The security guard had to go in the back to get someone. After a full day of delayed travel from the west coast I was hungry and ready to order room service as the menu stated room serve is until 11 pm. I called at 9:45 and was told the restaurant was closed. I then called the front desk and the phone just rang and they finally answered on my 4th try! The young man who answered the phone said oh that must be a mistake. I was also given room with a chair in the shower for someone in a wheel chair. Not a good first impression and I would leave if I were not so exhausted. Avoid this hotel! read more

Stayed here on Holiday Inn "points" so the night was free. Rack rate on the weekend varies but (according to the IHG site) is around $152. The hotel sits next or is connected to some sort of business complex. We stayed over Saturday night into Sunday, so the other part was empty. The place is easy to find. The parking lot needs to be redone, the asphalt is old and lots of holes and loose gravel. Walking up to the hotel, I'd say they need to sweep it good as it was littered with cigarette butts. We checked in much earlier than expected and that wasn't a problem - quick and easy. The lobby needs updating, it was dark with "blingy" lighting and tired furniture. The elevator suffers the same - dinged door, worn buttons and has seen better days. The room had been updated sometime recently and it was VERY CLEAN. The bathroom was spotless and I always look for grout - very clean. Kudos to housekeeping. There was a small refrigerator and a BIG desk to spread out. Bed was fine - the place is VERY QUIET on the weekend. Wi-fi was adequate. The restaurant was closed so can't comments on that. They had a Sunday breakfast buffet for -/-$11 but we didn't eat there. There isn't any place - that we could find close for eating. There is a shopping center a few miles away so look for that. Would I stay again? ...maybe. read more

Being in north jersey sure doesn't help things...NOR DO THEIR BED BUGS The reason I'm writing is that they were petty jerks when I asked for a bowl for my food. They don't have any condiments or cookware and I asked for a bowl for my food. One bowl. From their kitchen. That's it. No cutlery. One bowl to borrow. They said no. No, wait, first they berated me for not ordering from their expensive restaurant, and when I said no, I just need to borrow one bowl, they acted like this was such an unreasonable request and that I was a dick for not ordering a $23 hamburger, and went for some low-key takeout instead. We stayed there for a weekend because this was the only place that had rooms in the area we needed to be. The room was in decent shape and clean, but the main level is going through renovation. The renovation part was not a big issue, but the service sure was. The evening staff was less than stellar and seemed the person on duty just wanted to sit in the back and do little to no work. May be he was overworked, may be they were understaffed, I wouldn't know, but I think this place certainly can do better. All in all, I will avoid staying here next time. read more

One of the better hotels in the area by far and right across the street from the Pines Manor which is great if you're attending an event at the Pines for the evening. They're breakfast is simple enough in the morning and they have a very friendly staff that has let us bring our own sound system into the bar to keep the music pumping. They offer rooms for business meetings to be hosted in as well and the restrooms are always immaculate. read more

No AC in Lobby and our hall. Was told they never put it on... Had a fan blowing over ice the whole time. Food was ok and it was very expensive for cash bar. Cake was served frozen. This was the worst hotel I've EVER STAYED AT! customer service was terrible. Had construction going on above my room banging & drilling 6 am - 5 pm booked the room for 2 nights they didn't offer to change my room there excuse was that they have signs up that construction was going on did not compensate me for my money so I was stuck with the extremely loud sound. Food was 100$ tab for 2 people and was cold & terrible. Don't let the lobby fool you! Rooms are old and halls are dusty, just awful! read more

Plenty of parking. Staff was welcoming. Entrance was open and spacious. Restaurant was busy for breakfast with typical menu. Perhaps the hallways and rooms need carpet cleaning, it is humid outside but, inside a musty smell lingers. read more

Impressed. Great front desk staff and service. The lobby is very clean and relaxing with the water fountains. Business area is well stocked and clean. Rooms were clean and had enough supplies. Floors were dust and dirt free and carpeted areas looked very clean too. Restaurant had a good breakfast buffet included. The restaurant wait staff did seem a bit inattentive or overwhelmed though and there were not a lot of people in there so they should have been able to pick up dirty plates and give us refills on drinks quickly but they were all polite and pleasant. Peeked at their ballrooms and looked beautiful. Looks like a great place to have conventions and weddings. read more

I submitted an honest and fair review to the Crowne Plaza website and it was rejected! They said someone would contact me. I doubt that. I really wonder about those who stayed there and gave the hotel 5 stars..obviously the Presidential Suite is the best room in the house. It may also be the only room that is nice. I'd like to add that in spite of the fact that those who work here are very nice, they are working under sad conditions. Was there for Exxxotica Expo and not wanting to stay at host hotel and having all the madness I realized the Crowne was my next best option. Very spacious and quiet rooms and the free breakfast was amazing!! Full breakfast buffet with fresh omelette bar was the best!! Staff was friendly and always saluted you and the gym was not very big but had the perfect amount of necessities. I'll def stay here again read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night for a little weekend away from our family, so our experience is a little limited. First off, I paid for a non-smoking room but the hallway smelled a bit smokey and there was an ashtray and matches on the mini bar. Thankfully, our room didn't smell like smoke at all so we decided not to make an issue of it. The room and bathroom itself was very large (we had a one-king size bed room), very clean, and comfortable. The temperature control was really good as well. We enjoyed the stay very much, and the front desk people were very nice. We only really have 1 complaint. The wifi reception from our room was very weak and when we could get good connectivity, it was still very slow to load. Ps: one bonus "question"/criticism. I paid for room only, not room+breakfast. But a woman checked in at the same time as me and was given vouchers for her "complementary" breakfast. I'm not sure if the woman paid higher for the room and didn't know breakfast was included, which for her would've been a really nice surprise. But calling the breakfast complementary when they actually pay $20 extra at booking for it seems a bit strange. read more

The reception was next door so convenience factor was high and the bar stayed open past midnight despite only a handful of us hanging out. Beds, soft. Bathroom, clean. I attended a one day meeting. It was held in one of the designated meeting rooms. Compared to other meeting places I've been to this one was average. There was hard candy, note pads and pens in the tables but not quite enough for the crowded 10 people at the table. Next, my comments are more on the refreshments than the food which was pretty good. There were glasses set in the middle of the table and a spot for a water pitcher, but the water pitcher didn't show up until lunch was finishing. Also, the pitcher was filled with mostly ice and not water. The beverage station at lunch did not include iced tea or lemonade- only water, coffee and soda. The diet soda had quite a few lemons in it so it looked like iced tea, but was not. The signs labeling the beverages did not appear until 1/2 way through lunch. Finally, the ladies bathroom had one sink out of order. The water flowed by the sensor so there was no choice of hot or cold and the water was cold! Maybe these comments will make their way to the hotel management and these improvements can be made. They are all pretty fixable. read more

We are here now. Ceiling in the bathroom fell so hole on the ceiling, carpet old, blood on wall, chair all cut up on arms. I'm shocked how expensive the place is for what you get. I do have to say the staff is very nice. They gave us a free dinner and said we could change rooms but I had already showered and was ready for bed or and you have to flush twice when you go to the bathroom. This place really needs help. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza over memorial weekend for a soccer tournament with the team. Arrived around 10:45pm We had two adjoining rooms. We asked for a refrigerator but the woman said she was all alone working and it was only her and a security guard on shift. That was disappointing as we had left over food from our drive that we wasted. We went up to the rooms and it was like a sauna in them. We put the a/c on in both rooms however one of the rooms a/c wouldn't work. Called the front desk and she said that she would send the security guard up. He checked the settings to see if we handled it properly and said there was nothing he could do and had to wait until someone came in the next day. A very uncomfortable night sleep. Spoke to the manager in the am and she said that they were working on getting an a/c unit as they couldn't switch rooms as this was the only adjoining available. It took awhile and they finally replaced the unit by lunch time. Later that day as I was about to get in shower. A cleaning lady walks into my bathroom while I was about to get in shower (this was about 3pm). How about knocking as you come into a room and knock again before entering a closed door. She proceeds to stand in my room while I am yelling at her to get out of the room. It lasted longer than it should have with her talking to me outside my bathroom door. Another issue was with the free breakfast that was part of the hotel arrangements through the travel company. The first morning the breakfast went from 7am-11am. The next day they put up a sign saying "sorry for the inconvenience but breakfast will now be served 7-9am only. Last issue was the bartender one of the nights. The adults went in to the lounge - I ordered & drank one wine (chardonnay) while others ordered different wine (pino)and beer. When the bill came there was an additional chardonnay on the bill. The bartender took it off the bill but buyer be aware of your bills. Overall, a terrible experience with this hotel and the lack of concern by the management & staff. read more

All in all, the Crowne Plaza in Edison served its purpose. The bed was comfortable and the rooms were clean. The restaurant was convenient though the service at night is horribly slow. Breakfast was quick and kept me going until lunch. My biggest complaint was that the tub drained very slowly. By the time I was done taking a shower I would be standing in 4 inches of water. I had to talk to the front desk 2 times to get it partially fixed, though it still drained slow but at least I was only standing in 1 inch of water instead of 4. read more

Older hotel so was a little dated, great nostalgia feelin, NO FREE BREAKFAST. NO FRIDGE NO MICROWAVE IN ROOM. Call desk to get fridge delivered to room and communal microwave by elevators. You have a window that opens a little (GREAT PLUS) BUT when its closed it has a gap to let outside noise and wind in (had dancing curtains for 2days lol). No exhaust fan(not even a vent) in bathroom so bring air freshner and hot shower put u in sauna mode for 2 hrs, For most part its clean and freindly. read more

First I must appreciate Caren at the reception. I arrived by a long haul red-eye flight. My reservation was for that day - but the checkin time was 3 pm. I was there at the hotel at about 7 am in the morning. Very tired. I tried making a polite request on the phone on my way here. The person who answered the phone (not Caren) said there was no way they would let me checkin so early. But on reaching the hotel when I spoke to Caren, she said there was little chance, but she still checked. She said there was only one room - handicapped accessible room available. Of course I took it. The hotel itself is kinda old. The area is not the best. Not the best restaurants around. However, the room (at least the one I stayed in) was good. Clean, spacious. Bed linen is clean. Plenty of lamps. Wifi is Free. 32" TV. Toiletries are good. The breakfast is kinda okay/average. There is a live omelet counter. That's the only good part about the breakfast.
