9/1/26 UPDATE: Crown Smog moved to a new location. I needed to take my Prius to a Smog only station. I called Crown and told me to come in. I drove in and the technician said it would be about 5 minutes. I drove into the stall and the technician was very nice. He told me that there is a fee for Prius (lower than any other place) and I waited in the waiting room. The process took about 12 minutes and my certificate was being printed. Crown smog has excellent technicians. They are nice, helpful, explain everything and honest. I highly recommend Crown Smog. Remember: Print out the coupon on their website. read more

Excellent service, great weekend hours (always call and confirm), awesome prices (again, always call and confirm). There's a faded entrance sign, but it's rather easy to enter and there's plenty of room to maneuver once inside. Friendly and efficient service with even better communication. Couldn't recommend this place more. $50 no coupon for my 2016 Prius smog check, that beats a lot of other places that want $67 or higher. I appreciate the workers here, they answered the phone right away, gave me precise information in a prompt and respectful manner, and as a woman I feel very safe on multiple levels coming here. Hard to find a decent service these days, but I am happy to report that this is a legit option. It will for sure be my goto from now on. Getting an older car smogged is a real challenge these days, but not at Crown smog. "Z" knows his stuff and doesn't act like he's doing you a favor. I'm convinced California is making it more difficult for smog shops to get certified to smog pre-2000 cars. Few shops can afford the extra equipment and software integration costs. BAIT AND SWITCH! The smog check was fine, and the technician was efficient, but the scam that they pull by advertising a coupon price and then charging a different price after I already waited 20 minutes behind another car is really a rotten move. I acknowledge that they stated the extra charge for the certificate, and that SUVs are more money, but then charging a 10% fee to use a credit card while being dishonest about that charge on the invoice is slimy. Coming into spend $35 and then leaving spending $55 is shady business. read more

Crown Smog was great! Easy peasy. I was in and out in 10 min. I have a 99' Mountaineer and they were able to accommodate my older car. Most places won't take a car older than 2000 because they lack the right equipment. Also, older cars are more expensive to smog, and $99 was a great price compared to other locations I called. I recently needed a smog and was not sure where to go. After a quick search online and Yelp, I found Crown Smog. Figured I would give them a shot, the gentleman on the phone was pleasant and priced seemed reasonable. I was not sure if the going rate for a Smog since it Has been quite sometime since I needed a Smog, usually with my Company car I don't have to deal with it. Headed out, no appointment needed and I was done within 20 minutes of arriving with my passing certificate that gets automatically transmitted to the DMV. Super easy and the gentleman was as nice in person as on the phone. Price was $50 out the door for an SUV, same as I was quoted. I would recommend checking them out and using them for your next Smog. Every two years, I need to get a smog check at a STAR location for my 2005 Corolla. I checked Joe's Smog online and it said $60. Last time I went it was only $40. So I go to Universal AC, unfortunately they weren't STAR certified, but recommended Crown Smog. I call and get quoted $50. Great. I pull up, the guy asks me to have a seat and 10min later I pay my $50 bucks, have all the data automatically sent to the DMV, get my receipt and am out the door. So, now someone is in possession of my name, address, VIN number, license plate number...... who knows what someone would do with that information. It's $51.75 if you have anything more then a small car. In my case it's a small SUV. The coupon will take off $5.00 so the total actually came to $46.75. Also if you don't pass you can come back and pay $20.00 but only within 2 weeks. In my case it took over that to get the repair done so I get the bad luck of paying for it @ full price again. I would did it 5 stars except for one thing, which was pretty much my fault. It failed 1st time, I had electrical work done, therefore the catalytic converter OBD1 port was not ready. Everything else passed. I paid the full 50.00, there is a coupon on their site for 29.95 (cash only) that I was not made aware of at the time I went. The only thing I did not appreciate was, the 2nd test, the converter was ready and passed. This was just a few weeks later. I was referred to Crown Smog by the kind souled owner/mechanic, Jack, at Universal Smog & Repair, only because Jack's team, couldn't smog older cars over 34 years old at the time. As a result, I drove over and they got me in very quickly. In my opinion, this smog/repair shop is the shop where you want to bring your old cars if you live in the NoHo area since it's close and they are quite efficient at what they do. I literally live down the street from these guys and I was in & out in no time at all, which is normal for most smog shops, but even better if you are nearby. Shouldn't take you more than 10-20 min. Personally, I've been to other smog testing sites around LA/HW which all are great and fast, and have also been around the world serving in the military for over 20 years going to all kinds of auto repair shops and meeting all kinds of mechanics, I found that these guys at Crown Smog were by far very efficient and skilled at what they do, especially Zare. He was super kind, professional, and highly skilled at what he did the day I met him. He knew exactly the type of car I had and how to smog it. It's refreshing to meet mechanics who know what they do and are also kind and courteous in the process at the same time. You can't go wrong by using Crown Smog and its mechanics. And if Jack the owner of Universal Smog & Repair, referred them, then you know they're good, kind, and professional too just like them. Either way, I'll be back again and will always refer my family and friends in the area to you all. Side note: When you first arrive, you have to drive down a little tight alleyway off of Burbank Blvd to get to their garage, so just be careful driving to their garage as there are other shops in the area with other cars driving in & out at the same time. It seemed to be a little congested the day I arrived but don't let it stop you as you'll be in & out in no time at all.
