I've passed this shop multiple times when grabbing a bite to eat with friends, but never went in. Recently I stopped by looking for a top they had on sale via their website. Crown J carries many brands popularized by hip hop, K-Pop, and Asian celebrities like KTZ, Saint Laurent, and BAPE. There is a very street, urban aesthetic to the clothing - if you are not a fan of these types of clothes, then this isn't the shop for you. Prices are high because of the names they carry - this isn't a cheap "dress like your favorite celebrity" boutique place with throwaway fashion. I'll admit the shop clerks do follow people closely but this is because it's a common behavior when shopping in Asia. The clerks devote their attention and energy to a customer if they seem like they're going to buy something versus leaving people to shop on their own and getting distracted by their phones or gossip. One girl was kind to tell me that they were having a sale and mentioned that some of the items were up to 70% off, which was a good price. I asked her about the top I was looking for but she was unable to locate it among the racks. She concluded that they must have sold out of the top and apologized before showing me something by another designer that was slightly similar. I thanked her before leaving. I would conclude that if you wish to avoid shopping online for the Asian designers and try things on in person, this would be a location to consider. They need to work on updating their website so it is more accurate to their shop's stock - the website claimed the top I was looking for had XS/S/M left in stock. read more

This place has very legit stuff. The items at this store are not meant for the thrifty type who is constantly on a tight budget. Its pretty much a semi-high end store (high-end stores have pieces that are $1,000 + each....) , so I typically would get a piece here that would top off a set of clothes I have already, like icing on a cake ...You gotta have your cheap pieces layered in with your fire stuff, that way you always look ballin without having to dress yourself up from head to toe in expensive gear... I lived in New York city for about ten years, and during my stay I saw a lot of people wearing a lot of the merchandise sold at Crown J worn in Flushing, Brooklyn and Soho...etc. So you can imagine my excitement when I found this gem....in Irvine of all places.. lmaoo.. No wonder they always have a sale...UNLESS you are a ballin' Chinese kid/international student whatever, everyone else around here is either too broke, doesn't care or have a clue about what urban fashion is, or all three. Either way, good for me. I like how a lot of the brands are from europe, etc... And the best part about it is that most of the items here are constantly on sale or at bare minimum priced below what they normally sell for online.. Unreal! Basically euro/asia HYPE BEAST material. Only thing that sucks for me is that I have a sexy athletic build and most of their sizes seem to target those who are skinny i.e the foreign born chinese/korean/azn crowd. So I mostly just shopped around for my girlfriend since she basically fits the target demographic the store seems to aim for. All good, when they do have a size that fits me (oversized please) its a good cop. And if you are nice with the lady who works there she sometimes can hook you up with an even nicer discount on already discounted items. One thing I can say that was negative, when I copped some merch and asked for where Solestage was, the lady told me she didn't know, lmaooooooo. The place is right next door. I was a little disturbed she has that type of competitive attitude towards her neighbors, yet understandably so. But I couldn't complain since I got a great deal and she even gave me an additional 10% off the final price. No harm no foul I guess.... And omg, as I read some of these comments for this store...Jesus..... I am in awe of how idiotic some of these shoppers are....you know.... those people complaining that the clerk is "following" them and assuming that the worker is "constantly" looking over your shoulder to see if you are "stealing," or some kind of BS they have imagined in their tiny and insecure minds... I honestly DID NOT get that vibe from the clerk at all, and I am a pretty sensitive person by the way.. I honestly think its just a major problem with suburban born kids, I feel like they are very insecure about ALOT of things, including BUT not limited to, basic retail customer service.... get offended if you wish, but it is the truth. California people are also too thrifty. I also highly doubt those complaining have been to Rodeo Drive either so shhhh. I would say that is a circumstance of not having many real shopping outlets around so they aren't used to what a normal retail shopping experience should feel like. Most of the stores in Orange County are filled with low paid teenagers who probably sit on their phone all day and are mainly there to fold clothes and collect a paycheck. What a WASTE... For me I feel you get your shopping done quicker if you have someone assisting you.... Who knows more about the inventory in the place than you do..... I like to expedite things because I have better things to do than shop all day, but thats just me... I don't like wasting time looking around for two hours when I could have got help and finished in half the time.. whatever... when in Rome I guess.. She literally was there checking on me from time-to-time to be attentive to my needs to see if I needed anything or was readily available if I wanted to ask her a question. I appreciate that. She even pointed out some very good shirts that I liked but were too small unfortunately. I really felt like I had my own personal assistant for the 30 minutes I was in the store. I guess everyone has a different perspective, but if anyone has ever lived in New York... The clerks out there can be real jerk-off's and extremely rude, if you come in wearing sweats in some places they will even look you up and down and tell you in your face that they think you cannot afford whatever you are trying to purchase simply based on how you dress, or just flat out ignore you if you look like you have no fashion sense......NOW thats rude......and this clerk J Crown was far from what people wrongly assume her to be. Overall, I walked out of that store spending only $250 for $1000 worth of high quality gear. I will be coming back to see if they have larger shirt and sweater sizes,... message to shop owner please get bigger sizes for men thanks. read more

I just stopped by after seeing that this store has newly opened. They have cute stuff, a bit overpriced, and very 'Asian' in style. Their sizing is very limited and seems to be pretty restricted to small and extra small sizes. They have half the store men fashion and half women's fashion. I found a hat I really liked and was planning to buy it, even though it was $60 for a beanie. I walked around the store holding onto it while still looking around when a worker came up and stood closely by me while I browsed around. She stood pretty close to me, about 7 feet away and just intently stared. So I still tried to shop around when a second girl comes up and asks if I'm going to purchase the hat but in a really straightforward way that could be perceived as rude. Now with two girls following closely behind me as I circled their tiny store I got more turned off, gave them back their hat, and left. I'm not sure if they are concerned with theft or if they just wanted to help me as I was the only customer at the time, but they really need to learn to give their customers some personal space. It was beyond unnecessary and left me and my boyfriend feeling uncomfortable. read more

Horrible experience. My friend try on something and unfortunately her make up went on the cloth. So first the worker pressure my friend to buy it and after that they said you have to pay $20 for the cleaning fee. The way they treat people is very rude. And made my friend cry. Don't go there. Everything is over price and don't listen to what they say and the compliment they gave you. read more

I've been this shop only once but I had totally same experience as these people who wrote recommends. The sellers don't give customers any private space, and keep asking me and giving me lots of clothes I don't like. That made me really annoyed! In the end I spent nearly 600 dollars only for two shirts. read more

Not sure why this place has such bad reviews. I visit this store frequently and never have a problem. The employees are always very nice. The only thing negative I have to say is that they don't have many sizes and they cannot order items in different sizes. What you see is what you get. Visited today with a couple of buddies of mine. We walked into the store in hopes of finding something interesting but was instantly turned off when a young female worker started to closely follow us like 'HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF' "-Duran Duran". Lots of the clothes were tacky and they didn't live up to Kendall & Kylie exclusive clothing collection. This Korean woman followed me around with and explosive galaxy note 4 with no intensions of stopping. I felt threatened and shook af. I'M LITERALLY SHAKING. My kids are crying asking me if everything is okay. I shook my head and I felt my husbands hand on my "V". I saw two roaches btw mating unprotected . Not cumin back. This place blows. read more

Although this place carries many brands that are hard to find in the area such as Boy London, Bape, Off White, and a few Versace, the customer service here made my visit very unpleasant. Like the other reviews say, beware of the employees that work here. They will follow you around, make you feel uncomfortable, and pressure you into buying their over priced clothes and lie about the sales that they are having. Additionally, I am not a big fan of their NO return and NO exchanges policy. I definitely am never coming here again. read more

The store manages to carry a few brands that are hard to find in the oc area. For instance they carry legit Marcelo Burlon, off white, ch24, boy London and etc. but keep in mind most of the clothing are based off the popularity of Kpop stars wearing them. With that in mind the whole collection f brands they carry are very expensive streetwear that are veryyyy flashy. They also carry Versace and givenchy so you can guess how gaudy that is. I would give this store a higher rating for its unique collection it carries as a boutique but I refuse for one reason and it's mainly because of customer service. The workers at the store are very rude forcing you to buy clothing pieces that you glance at. Not only that but they follow you around the store very close making you very uncomfortable. It seems like they are very desperate to sell something. After visiting twice I refuse to walk in the store again. What bothers me even more is that the workers have no knowledge in clothing whatsoever which makes no sense when they are selling pieces that are worth over 300 dollars. read more
