There food is amazing! They prepare it for order. Always delicious and the staff is pleasant and nice.

They waited till I drove 20+ minutes and however many miles left to tell me they ain't even start to make the order and then were starting to close so couldn't start to prepare the order. I get if a brother needs to close the store, all respect to you, but call back and say I can't make it. Even during the initial call when we placed the order would be a great opportunity to tell us you're unsure if the food can be made. The place is usually the spot to go, with decent quality food and a good small waiting area but this ruins it. read more

Fried chicken on weed street. I was worried this was a joke / fake restaurant but sure enough it was really there. Although it straight up looks like a dive / hole in the wall, the staff was super friendly and there were people coming in and out as we waited for our order. A lot of interesting choices. Jamaican beef patty with cheese was surprisingly quite good. The chicken itself was made really well. Crispy outside juicy inside. Good seasoning. Curly fries were made well. We asked for cheese on it and that was the only downside we found. Cheese wasn't heated up so it was like lukewarm cheez whiz on top of what probably was at one point crispy hot curly fries. Mashed potatoes were ok. It wasn't anything special. It was a lot of food at an affordable price. Would be interested in trying some of the fried fish options someday. This is my first time visiting here. As a preface, the fried chicken, I'm most familiar with is KFC, broasted chicken, I used to make for over four years at my first job, or something out of a grocery store deli. So in a way I have a little bit of a taste for this. I purchased the three-piece chicken and fries combo, but I opted for potato wedges of fries because I am biased towards those over fries. The chicken tasted like it was brined (which is a good thing). The outside of the chicken was nice and crunchy as expected and very light. Not too oily, and the spice that was used in the breading was light as well. Definitely doesn't have the herbs and spices taste as one might be accustomed to, but it got the job done. The potato wedges were my favorite part of the meal because the outside was truly crispy and not burnt and seasoned well. Typically, I would eat these with ketchup or ranch, but luckily, I was happy with eating them as they came. If you're searching for an alternative to KFC, this is a good spot, but that's not to say KFC is better. The seating area is small and this is more of a takeout joint than anything else. Got a 5 pc mixed chicken only after going to Wemmys, which is in the same plaza. Never heard of Crown before but being a fried chicken junkie, I wanted to get some to take home. Had to try a piece when we got home to get a good read on the chicken. Let me tell you, this is excellent fried chicken. Crunchy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside with great flavor. Ahhh, I am so glad this place finally came to Marlborough. With various locations around the area it is almost definitely worth a try in my opinion. This specific one is great! The food is always amazing, full of flavor and served fresh and hot. The prices seriously cannot be beat. The servings are all very generous. The location is in downtown marlboro and shares a plaza with some other businesses but there is plenty of parking usually. Seating is very limited inside . Probably fits 10 at most . My only real issue here is you literally cannot call in to this place for a takeout order, because even when you do, they will not make your order until you arrive there lol . First go: Batter is wonderful. Chicken was dry. Coleslaw is pretty, too sweet, under tone of flour? Maybe they made it too watery and thickened it back up. Both worthy of a retry. Mashed potatoes bland. And over processed or perhaps started from a box. Gravy on them also bland. No worth a retry. Will try the fried next time. Place is super clean. Staff is really friendly. It's been super busy and it's only been a few days so it's fair to assume they're ironing out the kinks. Will give it another go and update when I do. I had driven by this place a ton of times and never felt compelled to go in, but I decided to give it a try. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly as I perused the extensive menu. I ultimately decided to try the 3-piece fried chicken box with mashed potatoes. After getting home and biting into the chicken, I was pleasantly surprised how hot the chicken was considering it was sitting under a heat lamp. The breast and thigh were both well cooked and the batter was thin, crispy, and well seasoned. The mashed potatoes and roll was nothing special, but the chicken was good! Reasonably priced at $7.75, I would definitely recommend this place for fast food fried chicken. The jury is out on their other offerings, but given the friendly service and reasonable prices, I'd consider trying more menu items. read more

I was in the restaurant parking lot around lunchtime and saw an amazing act of kindness. It was a very windy 32 degrees, and I noticed a handicapped gentleman on his motorized wheelchair drive up to the front door of the restaurant. While holding the wheelchair steady on the ramp, he tried to open the front door to get inside but was struggling somewhat. Almost instantly, a worker inside opened both front doors and warmly welcomed him in with a smile on his face. In these stressful times, this is the kind of human decency that we need more of. This place is ridiculous in the best possible way. I placed a good sized order and went to pick it up, having no idea how much the bill was because they don't have their prices on the website. I guessed around 40-45 bucks and it ended up being 29 and change. 1. Double cheeseburger= 7 bucks. This thing was huge and tasted great, it never stood a chance because I destroyed it in my car in the parking lot. 2. Onion rings=3 bucks. You get a lot but they're the frozen kind and not too good. Oh well. 3. Buffalo wings=8 bucks for 9 wings. When I saw how cheap they were I expected frozen, breaded crap but these bad boys are fresh and very tasty. I was stunned. 4. 5 piece chicken box = 10 bucks. The chicken is very moist with a flavorful breading, the slaw and mashed potatoes weren't spectacular but I'm not one to quibble at that price point. Don't judge a place by its looks, I came here because my daughter was getting teeth work done across the street. It is lunch time so I stopped in and tried this place out. OMG it is really good fried chicken, hot, fresh, I asked for 5 pieces with fries and water paid 14.38 with taxes, lots of fries and an extra piece of chicken. Service was great. I had the chicken kabobs with rice and it was delicious!! An outstanding deal! Very tasty! I also got the bbq and Buffalo wings and they were good. I'd say above average for the wings. Then there's the fried chicken box with mashed potatoes. I thought they were ok. The fried chicken is fresh and tastes better than most super market fried chicken. Was hungry, something fierce. Saw the sign for Crown Fried Chicken and decided to try this place out. I went with a three piece meal, comes with two rolls and I also got coleslaw and mashed potatoes on the side. Coleslaw is not as crunchy as I'd like. Its smothered in dressing and slightly soggy. It has a generic coleslaw appeal. Mashed potatoes and gravy are clearly not made in house. The gravy is very starchy, and seemed more like gelatin. It does provide a needed complexity to the mashed potatoes. Texture on potatoes is fluffy, and grainy and there is a subtle buttery taste. Not offensive, but leaves much to be desired.They both have a synthetic, instant from the box quality to them, that can actually be endearing if I'm making this at midnight in my kitchen. The rolls are a joke. Stale, lifeless and tasteless. The three piece of chicken included one breast, one leg and a thigh. The meat itself is ok. Not juicy, but not dry. Some saltiness, but not much flavor in the meat. The skin is where all the flavor is happening. Crispy, oily fried golden brown flour and skin is a crowd-pleaser. But, there is no complexity. I think I got hints of some herbs and/or spices. Otherwise, you're just tasting the grease and flour. Overall chicken is almost satisfactory, but the sides are not even close. read more

Great family run business, good alternative from fast food. We love the fried chicken and the gyros.

It's a hole in the wall. And I wanted to give them some loving, because they are cheap and local. AND they have TOSTONES on the menu. It was my son's "ma, we haven't Yelped them yet, lets pull in". They keep it clean, which is saintly in my book, but the vents don't work and the grease and fried food odor is overwhelming. My dog usually adores me but when we walked in, she found us unusually appealing as we brought the place home with us from head to toe. Menu is larger than I thought, and it has a mishmash of things middle eastern, latino, american - bryani rice, rice and beans, tostones, tres leches, baklava, fried chicken, mashed, gyro, burger, fried fish/shrimp, corn on the cob... if you can think it, its there maybe, but almost for sure. Counter dude was a nice guy, saved me money and reminded me I had a soft drink with my order, which was a nice touch. 3 thighs, 2 legs, fries, onion rings, fried apple pie and a canned drink later... we head home. Debbie said "better than KFC" the poor thing. I guess with 0 connections and only 30 reviews, she hasn't been out much - sorry my fellow yelper, but Crown "ain't better than KFC" - or Popeyes, or Church's. Not dry but not moist, the fries out of a bag and into the fryolator were ok, but the onion rings were nasty. Not enough ketchup in the world. 1 thigh, some fries and rings and 5 tums later, I decreed we shall never step in Crown again. Son and Husband agreed. I've only gone once and I'm actually planning on going again today and so far my family and I love it!! Although we aren't fan of spice food and we ordered the regular chicken drums and thighs and they tasted spicy for us but that didn't stop us from eating everything haha. This is our first time trying crown, and we are very, very happy! We ordered the 10 piece chicken with fries, and jalepeno poppers and big bottle of pepsi.The meal was around $30 and I think they gave more than 10 pieces, which makes me happy! The chicken was not dry, just right! The spice was flavorful, not too salty. It was overall wayyyyy better than the kfc down the street. Love it, and this could be considered 2 meals. Love it! I was initially on the fence about trying Crown because of the negative reviews. Well, now I can say that I'm so glad I decided to jump down and give them a try! I ordered a 9 piece box and a couple sides. Let me start with my opinion of the fried chicken. The batter was light, crispy & well seasoned. Both the white and dark meat itself was juicy and flavorful. The mashed potato and cole slaw were very tasty as well. Placed my order for chicken fingers and saw the cook walk over to a freezer which was a little disappointing. I thought this was going to be more of a home made chicken place. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. With chicken fingers there's usually an assortment of sauces. There was only some ketchup like packets of barbecue sauce behind the counter. If Crown Fried Chicken could make fresh in-store hand-made chicken fingers with an assortment of in-store hand made sauces, then I think this place would easily get a 5 star rating. The chicken was crispy and moist, service was friendly, prices were reasonable, the place is nice and clean, and it's a convenient spot for take-out. I'll definitely be back. Loved it! Hands down, the best fresh food I've ever had. The salad, fresh, green crispy lettuce, onions were so fresh that they almost looked fake! (ocourse it wasn't fake). Food is excellent. Try their kabob with rice, extremely good. Fried chicken is also very good. Wish they have more and cleaner locations to sit-in and eat, otherwise, great to go. I have a feeling that if they invested in better seating enviornment, remodeled perhaps and do some marketing, they can dominate the the competition, such as KFC. read more
