I heard the girls keep telling customers that they were out of items (cherries, chocolate chip cookie dough, bananas) which doesn't seem like they were set up for much success in being prepared.

We ordered a Banana and North Carolina Peach Shake in separate cups of course the smooth ice cream was filled with freshly sliced bananas and delicious peaches that kept clogging up the straws (that's a great sign for me it reminded me of my childhood when you had to pull the straw and do a reverse slurp to clean the fruit from within). The owners were friendly but focused and the little windows only provided a small portal to the inside which I thought was rather comical - a hand appeared to take the payment then it appeared again to hand over the product. I tried a loaf of "sourdough" bread which lacked the crumb, crust and flavor I expected. It ate rather like a brioche; I suspect it was simply mislabeled, so there's no point in being harsh about it. Everything changed when I laid eyes on the crumb-topped peach pie, a creation of singular beauty. Love at first sight, it turns out, is real, and everything the appearance promised was delivered in the first bite. It was transcendent. My family devoured this gift from heaven at room temperature, heated à la mode, and in clandestine fingerfuls stolen greedily from the box. This pie will be part of every summer from now on.
