Fun Brewery with some great food. I stopped in while visiting town and grabbed a few pizzas and a couple other menu items. Everything was delicious with a lot of great flavors. I really enjoyed the brussel sprouts and the pizza was great. They also have really good beer options, brewed in house. The staff was really nice in taking orders, and even though the restuarant was packed, everything came out pretty quickly. The resturant itself had trivia going on, and we joined in. Even winning one round, but severely losing every other one. There are a ton of games like cornhole, and a dog patio for pet owners. Tons of outdoor space and open concepts for hanging out with friends. Great little brewery that can make for a fun night. read more

This was my first trip to South Carolina and was very excited to find this restaurant and brewery! They have SO much seating and is great for bigger parties! They have a lot of activities going on as well each week according to their schedule and we just happen to catch them on bingo night where they gave out prizes for the winners, so fun! You can get full service if you sit inside or you can order quick service to sit outside on their picnic benches and tables, we ordered a few pizzas, bread pudding and some drinks, everything came out pretty fast and the staff were very nice and welcoming. Hubby and I visited on a Sunday afternoon, lots of people but not noisy- everything is spaced out well. There is a lawn section for people with dogs which is awesome. We each had their double smash burger which was delicious- loved the pickles and sauce. The sweet potato fries were perfect - not soggy at all. Hubby had the Rosie beer - part of the proceeds go to support Red Bell Run a local animal sanctuary. We tried the stout cake with whipped cream for dessert- definitely enough to share and was yummy. The beers were spot on, the food was creative, and absolutely delicious, and the service was impeccable. We enjoyed the pretzel (with the most amazing beer cheese), a Smashburger that was spot-on, with the highlight being a pepperoni pizza, slightly spicy, drizzled with honey. OMG! Thankfully stumbled across this family owned gem of a brewery, on the way back from wine tasting. The whole experience was excellent. I had the dry rub wings which were some of the best wings I have had in the Greenville area. The chili peanuts and beers were tasty. Will be coming back again soon. read more

This is my second time here. Beers and hard ciders are great. The pizza is good. We ordered loaded tater tots. They must be premade as they came out quickly and not hot. My son ordered the yard bird sandwich with pimento cheese. He said it tasted like frozen chicken. No flavor except from the pickles and pimento cheese. Way too much pimento cheese. My first visit tonight at the Stubborn Mule. Took some of my family who were visiting from out of town. The staff were great. The facility is very nice. I got a flight of beer to try. The craft beer was ok at best. I ordered a pizza for the wife and myself. The crust has no flavor like others have posted. Please add some sauce or garlic butter or something. it's just plain bland. The toppings were good. The wings were good too. I hope management reads the reviews and can make some adjustments. It could be a great place with some help in the kitchen. If I went back I would try something else. if you order an alcoholic beverage and request a liquor other than house brand expect a $4 up charge. Don't see that helping them. drives the cost of a drink up to $14 -$18. Big city prices in small town Landrum. read more

I've been looking forward to going...it's been a long time in coming and Landrum needs more good restaurants. Here's my takeaway: The Yard Bird chicken sandwich is mediocre at best. The food is pricey for what it is. The beer is good. The accommodations for guests with dogs isn't good, though. The area for dogs doesn't have enough seating with shade umbrellas, and many of the tables are placed on a slope and uneven. Perhaps it's opening jitters and they'll iron out the bumps...we'll see. read more

We had a party of eight at our table. The place was moderately busy. The waitress was sweet and polite, but not particularly competent. We sat for 10 minutes before they brought us water. We sat for another 10 minutes before they took our drink order. Everyone got a beer. We waited 20 minutes for the beer to arrive. 40 minutes, one beer. Really? 15 minutes later she took our food order. Some got pizza, several people got sandwiches, I ordered a salad. It took an hour for them to bring the food... not exaggerating. One problem: no salad. Five minutes later, the server came back and asked how the food was. I looked her in the eye, and I looked at the table in front of me and I looked her in the eye again. " oh, your salad. It will be right out." 30 minutes later, she came back and said "they're washing the lettuce". I asked "are you serious?" she floated away and came back in another 10 minutes. "Your order was dropped, so we're comping it for you." I said "we've been here over two hours and everyone else is done eating. Forget the salad." She said "what I mean is, we're not charging you for it because you never got it." So even though they figured out they completely missed my salad, they simply decided not to make it. At the very least, the manager should've apologized for missing the order, made the salad himself and charged me half price. Comments from my fellow diners about the food: the pizza was decent, but the sandwiches were mushy and fell apart easily. A woman at the next table heard what was going on with my order. She ordered the salad and said it wasn't very good and that I didn't miss anything. I wanted to like this place. Landrum needs a place like this, but stubborn mule is going to be a dead mule in six months. This place won't make it, so skip it and go to Hare and Hound. read more

The building is absolutely gorgeous, but the food.....so bland and overpriced. Such a disappointment.
