Caramel crunch
Jaci K.

I am not usually one to visit ice cream shops, but Village scoop made me scream for ice cream. After watching tourists try ice cream at the Chimney rock attraction, I turned to Yelp to find out where I could get a REAL scoop of ice cream. Village scoop seems to capture the hearts of locals and tourists alike. From the moment I saw this place, I knew with over 60 flavors to choose from I would be able to find something I loved. They also advertised a free pup cup with any purchase, so my pup would get to join in on the fun! While he wasn't actually allowed inside, they had outdoor seating and a window you could order from. That was very much appreciated. Back to the ice cream itself. Wow. I have never had a scoop of ice cream I enjoyed so much. I opted for the caramel cheesecake crunk because it combined all the flavors I love , and it exceeded my expectation. It was creamy with chocolate chips all throughout, real chunks of cheesecake, and giant swirls of caramel. The flavors were bold but separate enough so I could actually taste them all. My boyfriends favorite flavor is cinnamon, which is usually an impossible find. This place knocked it out of the park with their cinnamon flavor! It was sweet but captured the spice of real cinnamon and included chunks of cinnamon buns as well. Also, in case you were wondering my pup Loki truly enjoyed his as well. They loaded his pup cup with peanut butter and topped it with whipped cream. Never have I seen such a pup cup made with love! If you're craving a scoop, do yourself a favor and make your way to Village scoop!

The milk shake was super thick and hard to drink. But it was delicious! We got the bourbon butter ice cream with caramel- I don't remember the name of it but it was good. The outdoor ordering window was super convenient and there may who took our order was very friendly. It took a while for someone to walk over to us and take our order. I would suggest having someone stationed at that window or closer by so customers don't have to wait too long to be seen. Conveniently located in the village outside of chimney rock state park, it makes for a nice treat with great views. Lots of outside seating or you could walk the strip and enjoy it.

Loved this place! We were able to try samples and it was all superior Hershey's ice cream. They had lots of options and different toppings. They even had a special moon pie sundae which was to die for. I totally recommend this place!

This ice cream shop is right on the main strip near Chimney Rock. It offers lots of flavors and even have a freezer dedicated for patrons with food allergies. The staff are friendly and the portion sizes generous.

We got banana pudding ice cream and it was very delicious! We also got two hot chocolates that were for our boys and it was extremely hot. It took a while and still wasn't warm enough to drink so we had to add ice. I would just recommend them servicing the hot chocolate for the children maybe a little warmer. Cute place with a ton of options for flavors and sides. Even have coffee and drinks. Very limited seating outside and has some more outside.

Love the place, right on the main strip, very friendly staff. 20 ounce milkshake 6000 $.30 is very fair taste excellent. Ask for whip cream

To update other reviews, they do accept visa and MasterCard now. No longer cash only That being said: If you have another option, go there. The ice cream is fine, it's what you'd expect from a chain ice cream place. It's clean and all. BUT When we walked in and the lady (full grown adult, not teenager, who I assume owns the place) literally sighed when we walked in the door. The teen that what was working with her never smiled either. It was the saddest ice cream place I've ever been. We came here despite the poor reviews because other options were closed. It just felt like we were inconveniencing them, and no one wants to pay to feel like an inconvenience. Unfortunately, despite multiple reviews that customers consistently feel like an inconvenience this treatment continues. I suggest you sell the shop and do something that offers you life, not something that clearly feels like a drag.

This little independently owned shop has limited hours on limited days of the week, there nothing like an owner who opens when he wants to and serves up a great selection of novelties, this almost always ensure you'll get quality products and it also means you'll probably have to pay up a little although I found the moderate pricing to be reasonable. The menus are posted everywhere once you climb the flight of stairs to the porch level - like more traditional ice cream stands there's a ordering window and a pickup window this to me signifies this place can get pretty busy although today that wasn't the case, of course I arrived a few minutes after opening. This place seems to offer unlimited flavors of ice cream and as I reviewed all the postings the only distraction was a couple of teenage boys seating on the bench beside the railing - one was crunching on his cup full of ice while the other was sucking on lemons he retrieved from his empty cup of lemonade, both were a little annoying but I was here for ice cream so it's wasn't hard to ignore the ill-mannered children although they arrived here in a early 2000 mini truck that hadn't seen a car wash in months. We found a picnic table under a big oak tree that provided shade to enjoy our treat and far enough away from the ice cruncher and lemon sucker to relax and suck down our shakes, I was bound and determined to do a little straw sucking to get some payback but unfortunately the two departed before I got to the bottom of my cup. We ordered a Banana and North Carolina Peach Shake in separate cups of course the smooth ice cream was filled with freshly sliced bananas and delicious peaches that kept clogging up the straws (that's a great sign for me it reminded me of my childhood when you had to pull the straw and do a reverse slurp to clean the fruit from within). The owners were friendly but focused and the little windows only provided a small portal to the inside which I thought was rather comical - a hand appeared to take the payment then it appeared again to hand over the product. It was a great experience over-all and the shakes were delicious, this is definitely a gem in the mountain forrest and deserves a visit again and again when in the area...

If you want to enjoy a nice dinner and sit at a table, you might receive decent service. However,…read moreif you plan to sit at the bar, be prepared to wait an eternity for even the most basic acknowledgment from the bartenders. We came in simply to order takeout and sat at the bar. From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely unacceptable. There was a gentleman at the end of the bar who had been waiting before we even arrived and was STILL waiting to order a drink and pay. He eventually had to confront the bartender because he had not even been acknowledged. The bartender proceeded to scold him, and the gentleman reasonably asked, "What am I supposed to do when I come up to a bar? Isn't this where you order?" Unfortunately, our experience was no better. We waited at least 10 minutes for a bartender to approach us, and nobody did. We eventually went to management for assistance. The manager spoke to the bartenders, yet nothing changed. They continued to ignore us, and their behavior was so unprofessional that they appeared to disregard management as well. We waited approximately 20 minutes just to be acknowledged for a drink. There was no eye contact, no greeting, and no attempt to provide service. The restaurant was not particularly busy, making the situation even more frustrating. At one point, the manager joked that the male bartender had "tunnel vision." We initially laughed, assuming it was an attempt to lighten the situation. However, as the evening continued and the lack of service became increasingly obvious, the manager later felt the need to clarify that she had been joking. After waiting approximately an hour for our takeout order, we still had not received our food. We had managed to get only one drink during that entire time, and the bartenders had not once checked whether we wanted anything else. They simply closed out our checks. When we finally asked to cancel our food, the manager responded that it takes 20 minutes. We explained that we had already been told that an hour earlier. Her response was essentially, "What do you want me to do, make the bartenders go home?" That is an incredibly disappointing response from management. No one expected miracles. We expected basic customer service, accountability, and someone willing to address the situation rather than make excuses. Meanwhile, other customers were being told there was a wait because the restaurant was busy. Yet, from what we could see, the restaurant was not particularly busy, and the people sitting at the bar were not being served. At approximately 8 p.m., the bartenders appeared perfectly content to let customers sit there without assistance. What made this experience especially disappointing was that a server actually approached us and offered to take care of us if we sat at one of her tables. That alone speaks volumes about the difference in customer service we experienced. It even made us question whether we should have ordered our food through a server instead. We were simply trying to pick up dinner to take home for our family. My husband was holding our sleeping two-year-old while we waited for food that never arrived. We ultimately canceled our order and requested a refund after wasting an hour of our evening. We came in ready to spend money at this establishment, but the lack of service from the bartenders and the manager's dismissive attitude made it clear that our business was not valued. Restaurants have bad nights, and occasional delays are understandable. What is not acceptable is being ignored, watching other customers experience the same treatment, and then being met with excuses when management is asked to intervene. Sadly, the bartenders' lack of professionalism and management's response overshadowed everything else about the restaurant. We will not be returning, and I would strongly caution anyone considering sitting at the bar if they expect timely service or even basic acknowledgment from the staff.
