I asked about the cost of burning some lesions and she mentioned it would be 5/$75. She did not say that was cosmetic only and that pre-cancer lesions were different. My wife and I counted the times Dr. Warren burned lesions off each of us. It was 5 or less for each of us. Long story short, I was charged for 15+ lesions removed (none of them cosmetic apparently). The communication purposefully deceptive as Dr. Warren knew we were concerned about cost. Upon receiving the bill, I protested and received the map of lesions removed. There were 6 in one spot (one burn, six charges)...none of them communicated to me or us. BE AWARE, Dermatology Center of The Rockies billing practices are dishonest and unfair. They over bill the insurance company thinking the patient won't worry about paying the difference. So sad.

The PA barely spent any time by me. Yet, I was charged for "45-59 MIN" of time on my bill. I wasn't even in the building that long. I tried calling the number on the bill weeks ago and left a voicemail asking why it said that, and I never heard back. I paid the bill and will go elsewhere.

After answering that question (with my concern about potential skin cancer) was I told that the doctors are not accepting new patients. I told the receptionist that it was strange to be asked what I'm interested in first, if the doctor is not accepting new patients. I asked if the answer would be different if I was interested in cosmetic services and she told me "yes". There would be a significant wait, but I could schedule for a cosmetic consult, and I could not have medical concerns addressed at such a visit. This told me everything I need to know about this practice. Skin cancer, which is potentially lethal, is not something they have time for - cosmetics pay much more.

I went in wanting a doctor's professional advice on how to care for my aging skin and at best, just agreed with what I asked her about. It's like I didn't interest her as a patient. I'll go elsewhere from now on to an office with a doctor who is interested in actively examining a patient's skin and recommending a course of action/treatment, be it for maintenance or targeted issues. If none of that sounds like a problem to you, do know that when I asked her medical assistant a question about the serum being applied to my face for after-care, the assistant didn't know and had to read the label. Also, as far as front desk help goes, way too many assistants that you get bounced around with, taking payment and shuttling you through. Most of the years normal stuff - pre- cancer. I just had a VERY severe reaction to medication and the most horrific hives that I thought was shingles. Went to the ER and was put on the wrong meds. misdiagnosed -my fault not the Docs, zoom call with my primary Doc. Was sent to get all of the wrong stuff for hives. Googled to find out the best doc for shingles and it said a dermatologist. Dr. Fueston go me in right away. I was in tears in his office due to pain. Dr. Fueston was not in there 10 seconds and stated not shingles it's hives. Been a week doing great!

I absolutely love my doctor and have had positive experiences with the staff overall. However, the…read morebilling process needs serious improvement. After my appointment in January, I was initially told I would not receive a bill. A few months later, my credit card was charged $28, which was not an issue. However, when the charge appeared on my bank card, it showed up as "Boulder Valley Dental Office" rather than Boulder Valley Dermatology. Because the charge name did not match the provider I visited, I reasonably believed it could be fraudulent and reported it to my bank. I later spoke with Flora in the billing department, who explained that they are aware of this issue and have been trying to resolve it for over a year. I was also told this problem primarily affects customers using certain banks. Unfortunately, despite the confusion being caused by the billing descriptor, I was still charged a late fee. My original balance was approximately $28, but I recently received a bill for $63 due to added fees. While I appreciate Flora's assistance during our phone conversation, I was ultimately told by her supervisor that I was responsible for paying the full amount, which I did. I truly like the medical staff and the care I receive here, but this situation felt unprofessional and unfair. At a minimum, patients should be proactively warned that charges may appear under a completely different business name to help avoid unnecessary fraud disputes and late fees. The professional thing to do here would be to give me those late fees back.
