The work is okay, but they pretty brazenly screwed me on cost…read more Dropped my car off, told me they'd call with an estimate. No problem. They called and gave me some outrageous prices, but i'm stuck in this town for the week and can't get to the shop I trust two hours away. I don't really have a choice. One repair that should be around $100 total, I was quoted $190 for parts and labor. I double-confirmed that on the first call. The second repair offered, which shouldn't be more than $300, was close to $1,000. I declined the second one. For some reason, I got a bad feeling, something wasn't right about the way this place handled itself. The guy on the phone seemed somewhat evasive and vague. I called back to double-verify the price of the first repair. Surprise, surprise, it jumped up to almost $400, and naturally, the repair would be completed in about 15 minutes. I questioned it, and got what I expected, "nah, the $190 was only for labor." I have a call recorder on my phone. If I ever deal with a chain shop again, it will be on. (Thank you, one-party state.) To top it off, they did not call and inform me when my vehicle was done. It got to be ten minutes before closing, I called them to inquire, and was told my car had been done for an hour and they "assumed I was on my way there." I don't even want to look into if they charge overnight "storage fees" for my own sanity. I will say, however, when I picked my car up, the guy I dealt with, a larger guy with a gray flat-top (I sadly don't recall his name) was extremely courteous and friendly, and explained (for the first time) in detail what they did, and what I should consider in the future. He should be the only one there dealing with customers. Stay away from this place. They probably assume everyone here is a rich kid since it's a university town (as many local businesses do here.) I pay my own tuition, and this is catastrophic for my limited finances with the fall semester coming up.

I live in Cleveland, but work in Kent. My car's left wheel bearing was shot, and I hadn't had time…read moreto bring it in. Last week I was at work and just didn't feel comfortable driving all the way back home to Cleveland. I started calling around to see if someone could take my car in, even prepared to rent a vehicle and leave it overnight. Most stores basically said "It's after spring break, no way can we get you in until next week." When I called AAMCO, Justin (I think that's his name), was courteous and sounded genuinely concerned for my situation. I brought my car in at lunch and he said he could get it finished by the end of the day, and worked with me on the best price for the wheel bearings. He was super busy too, so I appreciated his courteous nature all the more. I picked up my car four hours later, not only was the wheel bearing fixed and replaced but so was the faulty anti lock brake sensor, which I hadn't mentioned (maybe it was related, I don't know). So impressed with the prompt service, the politeness, the price. I heard this location is under new management (?) so I think it's headed in a great direction.
