We are left feeling taken advantage of, shocked by false accusations, and want to warn others about…read morehow Jeff Bean treated us. I'm appalled by the way he rudely treats customers and gets away with poor workmanship. He did not honor our contract and is refusing to not only finish the contracted project, but to refund half our deposit that was to go towards it. He dragged this out over a year and left us in dismay. I would NOT recommend hiring him. Per our contract in 2021 he did 2 out of the 3 jobs he was hired for. We paid a deposit that was to be split between the 2 main jobs. He completed the first main job with poor workmanship, but did not return for the second main job. Despite numerous patient and polite attempts to reach him since then, he failed to respond. Finally he responded, calling us a difficult customer and that he refuses to do the work to fulfill the contract. Furthermore he threatened a restraining order if we continued to try to contact his business. After now reading other reviews, he has done this to others and will continue to do so. Please beware.

We are VERY satisfied with his groups performance. His quote was detailed and competitive with two other quotes. He said the work would take a full week and was completed on time and on budget. The workers were professional and polite. The owner, Jeff, was on site during the whole job! In my experience, having the actual owner of the company present and actually doing much of the detail work, is highly unusual. Jeff takes pride in his work and that shows! I would strongly recommend Word of Mouth painting to anyone who needs a quality as well as honest painter. DTK Penfield ,NY

I have significant issues with MW contracting and its owner, Matt Willoughby, in regard to the poor…read morequality of their work. I paid MW contracting $8700 (Labor only) for a complete bathroom remodel, which included the installation of a Schluter shower System. I noticed that some of the grout lines on the shower floor were turning black, and MW Contracting attempted to re-grout a few small areas, but this did not resolve the problem. In an effort to address the issue, I contacted Schluter, the manufacturer of the shower systems, directly since Matt Willoughby had promoted their system as highly reliable and recommended it for his shower installations. Instead of being receptive to the feedback from the company, Matt became angry and confrontational during our phone conversation. The Schluter consultant's report indicated deviations from industry standard guidelines. Specifically, the shower floor tile was sloping away from the drain, causing water to pool and not evaporate properly. As a result, I now have to squeegee the floor every time I shower to prevent potential mold issues. I would not recommend MW Contracting for any remodeling, especially if you expect any warranty on their poor-quality work. Summary of Schluter Report: Based on the report and photos, we noted the following deviation from the Schluter®-Shower System Installation Handbook and industry standard guidelines: The Schluter®-KERDI-SHOWER-T and shower floor tile assembly were pooling water. The inspection report and photos show that in some areas of the shower floor tile assembly, water was pooling away from the drain, indicating the tray was not even and level or the tile was installed sloping away from the drain. The KERDI-SHOWER-T shower tray needs to be installed on an even and level substrate to ensure the pre-sloped tray can evacuate water toward the drain assembly. MW Contracting will claim I posted misleading reviews on social media, but this is ridiculous, considering my reviews are based on an inspection by Schluter, the manufacturer of the shower systems installed and recommended by MW Contracting. Schluter's report confirms deviations from industry Standard Guidelines, noting that the tile slopes away from the drain, leading to water pooling. Independent contractors have also supported this issue.

I have significant issues with MW contracting and its owner, Matt Willoughby, in regard to the poor…read morequality of their work and, more importantly, the lack of ethics and professionalism of the owner. I paid MW contracting $7100 for remodeling my bathroom, which included installing a vanity, tiling the floor, and tiling the shower walls to the ceiling. I also spent an additional $1500 to install a Schluter shower pan and tile the floor utilizing 2 x 2 porcelain tiles. A month after the work was completed, I noticed the grout lines were almost black and thought there was an issue with the grout not being waterproof, leading to a possible mold issue on the shower floor. MW contracting re-grouted some of the small areas, which did not fix the problem. I contacted Schluter Systems directly since Matt Willoughby marketed that system as being extremely reliable and recommends that product exclusively for his shower pan installations. Instead of Matt being interested in what the company thought was the problem, he got quite angry and belligerent on the phone. The report from the Schluter consultant was that the system was not installed correctly and deviated from the installation instructions and industry standard guidelines. Specifically, The shower floor tile was not installed sloping to the drain, which caused the water to pool and not evaporate properly. I need to squeegee the floor every time I shower, or this could cause mold issues. I would not recommend MW contracting or MW contracting pros do any remodeling, especially if you expect any warranty on their artistry. Buyer, beware: If you have an issue with this company, Matt Willoughby became very argumentative and refused to discuss Schluter's conclusions and repair recommendations. This review will forewarn potential customers of the unethical business practices of this company.
