They have both cardio and strength class options and class content is constantly varied so I don't get bored. Since I started, they have continued to add instructors and class times so there are now options at multiple times and options for every day of the week. I've been a member for around 3 years and for the monthly fee they charge i think they're a great deal, you'll pay considerably more at Snap! Fitness. I've never joined AP's classes so I cant commnet on them, but otherwise this is a very clean & well maintained gym. Though not as big or equipped with quite as much gear as the the larger gyms like 24 hour or Ballys, there is ample cardio and weight lifting machines and free weights to get you through any type of workout. I go every day and do both weights and cardio so I'm well familiar with this gyms offerings. Also nice is that members can use the gym 24/7 with a pass card they give. Nice to be able to workout at 4am if you so desire, or any other time. It allows you to workout on your own schedule, a big help to me.

The changes in my body and overall health have been astounding to me to say the least. I've found my stomping ground and plan to stay and play for a little while. It's pack most days full of enthusiastic, excited and motivated people that make you feel at home. Everyone that attends comes in many different shapes and sizes. They also appear to be from different walks of life, but have bonded over exercise. The coaches are also top notch and willing to demonstrate, guide and teach you the way of the land. The House is not a gym, it's a group of coaches and trainers, who teach the correct body position, the reason behind it (helps me remember if I know the why) and how much to lift, based on where I am. The classes are small, it's not a "gym" with tv, lockers and roid heads or dudes trying to look at your butt (not mine). It's a group of folks dedicated to their health, the longevity, the long game is the heart of it. Exercise is not a fad, you do it and then you are done. This is what The House is great at. They are looking for you to learn the reasons you do it, how to pace it, how to develop, track and grow. Concrete example, in March, they had us test 1 perfect rep at the heaviest weight. If I can do a deadlift with 50lbs, that becomes my max. Now when I am working out and the rep 4-6x at 50% of max, I know I am working out with 25lbs. Now I have a goal to increase, and keep building. Education is an important component, not just lifting. As a woman, I never feel uncomfortable in this environment. 3 classes per week = 12x per month at $155? You cannot find a better deal in the Portland area.

With little gym training, I had to search for a personal trainer and fast! I found Burntown Fitness! Personal trainers Kisar and Traci have the expertise and patience to get you through your challenge, whatever that may be. In less than 3 months, I successfully completed the physical ability test exceeding minimum qualifications, and was able to be tested remotely at their facility. If you're a parent and care about your child's safety, I wouldn't recommend enrolling at this gym!…read moreI'm writing this review not just as a parent who pays $150 per month for my membership with childcare, but also as a school director myself ,and a mandated Oregon State child safety reporter. Before posting this review, I have tried contacting the owner several times about child safety -- with no response. Here are a couple of child safety issues I have observed: -- Instance #1: About two months ago on a week night, a one and a half year old ran out from the kids center. And due to short staffing, it wasn't noticed by staff members. Luckily, I stopped the child from running out to the gym floor. When I brought this to the director's attention, (Cindy), she said that it never happened because the cameras didn't see it happen. Scoffing and rolling her eyes. She then got back on her tablet, and ignored me. --Instance #2: The child care was short staffed. When this happens, they put the older kids with the infants/toddlers. On a few of those instances, other parents and I, have seen the older kids hurt the smaller children (violently at times). After witnessing this, I tried to find the Director and she was no where to be found. She was on "Break". -- Instance #3: Last night (4/7/26) at roughly 5:15 pm. There was one staff member to probably 20 kids. I tried to talk to the director. Once again, she rudely rolled her eyes at me. Then her and the front desk girl started laughing and mocking me. And said within earshot, "What's her f**** problem". Hopefully after posting this review the, child safety issues are addressed. And the employee culture as well. ***Review update: The owner finally contacted me, and he said all the right things. I will update the review further if changes regarding the safety issues and toxic employee culture are truly addressed. ***
