The red room is FIRE, the instructors keep things moving, and you rotate between treadmills and floor work with plenty of options to walk, jog, run, or modify. I took the Run + Lower Body class and loved it! The best part? It's go at your own pace, so nobody's screaming in your face or forcing you to sprint. The energy is motivating, the equipment is great, and there were plenty of people in serious shape to keep me inspired. The downtown location is super convenient, with multiple parking garages nearby and validated parking (HUGE perk!). Lockers, plenty of showers, Dyson hair tools, beauty products, a members' lounge, and the Barry's Fuel Bar for post-workout protein shakes? They've got all the elements. I also booked easily through ClassPass, which is a major win for someone who travels as much as I do. The handwritten welcome card with my name on it was such a nice touch! I do think cleanliness could've been a little better, and the service was friendly without being over-the-top, but the overall experience earned its five stars. Just wish the Fuel Bar was on ClassPass too! I'll absolutely be back for another sweaty session.

The workout is consistent with wherever you take Barry's classes. The facility though was nicer and…read morelarger than most Barry's studios that I have been to. I loved their lift studio, especially the upgraded benches. The upgraded benches were very novel to use and I liked how the top of it could be lifted vertically to mimic a wall for wall sits. Only constructive criticism would be that I wanted to buy a barrys Austin t-shirt but thought that $68 + tax for a plain cotton T-shirt is a bit steep price-wise.

Personally I hate to work out, can't think of anything worse. But when I learned about Krav Maga…read moreand realized that I could have fun getting fit while learning how to kick people's butts, it was a match make in Heaven. I love Krav Maga because I learned real techniques that could be used in dicey situations. For instance, you spend a lot of time practicing how to get out of a variety of choke holds. I had an instance when I was working as a nurse in the ER where I was choked by a psychotic patient. I learned how to get out of a choke hold non-violently and also how to get out of it and really tear into someone if the situation was different:) Harry Shaw has to be one the nicest people I have ever met. He is really good at encouraging you to go further than you ever thought you could. If you are wondering what Krav maga is, here is a description off of their website: SELF DEFENSE Krav Maga is the official hand - to - hand combat system of the Israeli Defense Forces. It is also the preferred system for the U.S. Military and Law Enforcement personnel. Krav Maga is not a traditional marital art: *No Katas *No Rituals *No Nonsense Based on simple principles an instinctive movements, this reality-based system is designed to teach real self defense in the shortest possible time. Learn to defend against common chokes, grabs, and bearhugs, as well as weapons such as guns, knives, and sticks. Just as important, we teach people to function during the stress and shock of a sudden, violent encounter. Tested on the battle field and in the streets, Krav Maga's approach to self defense will make you safer and more secure.
