Crossfit Ammo is the best crossfit gym that I've ever been to. Unlike other crossfit gyms, Ammo stresses the importance on injury prevention. The first thing that we do before every class is gather around in a circle and stretch together before the warm up. Then, the coaches go through every movement of the warm up with us to get us set. After everyone is ready and warmed up we gather around the white board and our coaches will go through the WOD (workout of the day). They make sure before we start that everyone has good form for all of the movements, if not, they will assign a progression for that movement to prevent any chance of unnecessary injuries. These people are the best! I love all of my coaches. They are very enthusiastic about all of their Ammo members and they make sure that everyone feels at home. On top of that, all of the members are super friendly. I remember my first class at Ammo I was a little nervous because I didn't know anyone but everyone quickly came to introduce themselves and in no time I started making new friends. Ammo is awesome. Joined in summer of 2013 and it was a great place to learn all the mechanics and movements of crossfit. Since then, the facility has doubled in size, and is able accommodate any crossfire athlete level with updated equipment. The coaches know their stuff, and lead every class through a great warmup or cool down, superb movement instruction, and even hop in with the class in wod. Although I go to school outside of Texas, I am welcomed with open arms every time I come back fro break, and being a very competitive crossfitter, I am able to get all my training done here. Trust me, I've been to other highly ranked boxed in the country, but nothing compares to the atmosphere and level of coaching at ammo. They care about the fundamentals and the form before anything else, and will even video you a couple times to help instruct coaching points. After being a member of another local CrossFit box, I came across CrossFit Ammo and am so glad I did. From the first minute I walked in the door the coaches and other members were extremely welcoming and made me feel like part of the family. The programming is excellent - it pushes you and keeps things constantly varied and interesting. The coaches are THE best. They are very knowledgeable and go out of their way to teach and coach all of the members. They motivate you during the workouts and somehow make getting up at 5:30 in the morning fun! I've been a member at Crossfit Ammo for nearly a year. In that short amount of time my fitness level has greatly improved. The coaches are amazing and always looking out for me- focus is on proper movement and form. I'm getting stronger and faster every day and I have come to love the sport of fitness. By far the most awesome place to work out. When I began 4 years ago I hadn't worked out in YEARS. I was weak and almost threw up in the warm up. From then I have never stopped progressing. What it makes it the most special is the people. The coaches are AMAZING, the community of people you work out with are GREAT. You are encouraged to be the best YOU! It doesn't matter if you can barely jump rope, or if you are lifting 300lbs, You matter and are cheered on and supported the entire way! I dropped in to Crossfit Ammo 3 day this week while visiting to take care of family after surgery. Erin was super responsive to my email and so welcoming as soon as I entered the gym. The coaches and members were also super welcoming and really made me feel at home. The gym is very spacious, and has air conditioning!!! They have plenty of equipment and space to accommodate a large class (up to 20) so feel free to leave your foam roller at home. Form, technique and mobility were definitely a focus.
