    Pretzel with Crab dip
    Nithin K.

Summary: And fun times were had by all Went in on a weekend evening for a some drinks. Was seated outside and the service was great. Seems like this place can get really busy. The location is amazing. Pros: - I'm not a pretzel guy, but the one with the crab dip was yummy - Service was timely Cons: - Loud (but which good bar isn't?

I've been on a beer garden kick lately and decided to check this one out. Ambiance: I really like the vibe. I felt like I was outside, but I was actually inside. I liked the tree in the middle. service: my friend and I sat down and waited for about 15 minutes before we had to flag down a server for assistance. There was a guy sitting at the bar that appeared to work there, looked at us and said nothing. He was too busy talking to a customer. Once we finally got a server she took our order. After we got our food, she only checked on us once. We wanted to get another drink but at that point we were over the crappy service and was ready to leave. food: I ordered a burger and fries that was really good. They didn't have the cider I wanted to try so I just ordered a cocktail. Because of the service, I wouldn't return.

My fiancé and I were in Baltimore this past weekend and before our flight we wanted to get some beer and food. This place is very spacious with a lot of room for fun! There is a ping pong table and multiple TVs to watch the latest sports games! My fiancé got a beer and mentioned that it was delicious! We got a couple of food items to try and they were great but the lettuce wrap lacked a bit of seasoning. The crab dip pretzel was my personal favorite! Great for a large group like ours!

Only came here for drinks and Trivia on Thursday but had a great time! The bartenders were efficient and able to handle the large volume of orders quickly and easily. It was a packed house, but the open-seating and picnic table concept worked well. They also have a ping pong table. Highly recommend!

We enjoy Crossbar mostly because of the atmosphere. It is light and open so it gives you the feel that you're outside! They have long tables, a few bars, and a ping pong table to enjoy. We've never eaten here, only enjoyed some German beer during happy hour (the pretzels look fantastic though!). Happy hour deals are pretty good, $1.50 off draught beer & more!

So we're here in Baltimore for a quick visit, and we've come to Fed Hill for the Oyster Festival. After standing in the street for 45 minutes with the mob, we decide to go into this great place. It's packed downstairs, with week-end reveling millennials My daughter shows me upstairs to the back bar and Chelsea is here very lonely. She tells us she's from Staten Island and New Jersey and is an avid Yankee fan! So let the games begin! We order our favorite beers (which she generously offers to buy us!)and recommends a spicy pork sausage Debreziner with sauerkraut and a side of red cabbage. Well I love German food and the dish is absolutely delicious! We must have brought good luck because shortly the this bar is packed. Gleefully noisy with a lively crowd! So I give this place a well deserved 5 STARS! Thank you Chelsea!

Quiet beer and waffle-fries on a Thursday afternoon. We dropped in because...because it's a German biergarden! There is the standard bench-table seating, a bar, and an upstairs patio in the large, tall, vaulted ceiling room of the light and German-decor-filled biergarden that helps provide the environment you expect. We got a 1/2 liter each, and shared the waffle fries with cheese fondue - nice! The bartender was nice and chatted with us for a bit about nearby food, which we took the advice of and got some food from Abbey Burger just down the road - try the special seasonal meats! Aside from some flies annoyingly buzzing around, this was a cool spot with good beer and snacks that I'm sure is busy on a Friday or Saturday night. I would come again and bring others if I visit Baltimore again and am looking for a place to hang out or have some good german drinks

Pretzel with cheese and hefeweizen beer in the boot

Had a fun time at trivia night (Wednesday). We got the huge pretzel with cheese, it was soo warm and the cheese was wonderful. We also ordered the boot size of the Hefeweizen, which was a pretty good beer! The atmosphere is great, has benches that are very casual and we sat by an indoor tree . I've seen pictures of the place during the daytime and the natural light shines through the roof. Can't wait to go back when it's warm and light out!

Nice place to go party. I enjoy the crowd every time I'm there and their draft is always on point. 1 liter of beer for $7.50-- can't beat it.

Crossbar has a really nice atmosphere and is a wonderful place to hang out. I went there with another couple and had a great time. They did a really nice job in renovating the place, making it into an "urban Biergarten" with games and a festive atmosphere. They do have a decent number of German beers on tap, which I just love. I made a mistake because I ordered a full liter of König Ludwig without first tasting it. It's one of my favorite beers, but a problem in the United States with it is that is has to be imported. So, it's not always fresh. Since the place is a German Biergarten, I (falsely) assumed that it had to be fresh because there should be a high turnover. Unfortunately, it still wasn't stale, but it wasn't fresh either. The bartender was willing to give me something else, but I felt that it was my mistake partially for not sampling it first. The staff members are very friendly. At least three of them approached me and chatted with me. It's a fun place overall. However, they just were not adequately trained in beer by the management. They couldn't answer questions about the beer. The taps could also be better maintained. So, 4 Stars instead of 5 because, as a beer place, they should have better beer.

Started off a Friday night by sitting inside the Biergarten with a few friends, thoroughly enjoying a liter of beer. It was our first time at Crossbar, and I would definitely go back. We arrived after 11pm and there was a good amount of people there, and plenty of available seating. Around midnight we noticed the place had pretty much cleared out, and we moved along to another bar. My friend (a true beer enthusiast) couldn't stop raving about the Warsteiner Dunkel- he said it is hands down, the best dunkel he has ever had! Great atmosphere, didn't try the food, but I'd like to go again during the daytime!

Crossbar is the hotly anticipated new German beer garden in Fed Hill, not to be confused with the other new German beer hall in Fed Hill. I don't know what the difference is between a beer hall and a beer garden. I suppose a garden is supposed to be open air, and there are high ceilings, wide windows open to the street, and plenty of room. It was a hard fight to open this place at all, and I suppose some of the compromises are evident but they make the most of what they have. The main room is wide and bright with many long tables around the room and large TVs hung high on the walls. There is also a ping pong table in front of one of the open air windows facing the sidewalk, and we watched many a ball lost to the Cross Street traffic while we were there. There is a bar against the back wall, upstairs seating, and two bars in side rooms if massive socialization is not your thing. This all adds up to a fun and welcoming environment where anyone can enjoy a drink. As first timers we weren't sure if we should just grab seats or see a hostess, but two casually dressed women did turn out to be staff and directed us to sit anywhere. We opted for a long table centrally located (it should be noted that the main hall is on a slope which is more pronounced at some tables than others.) Early on a weeknight we had our end all to ourselves, but at busy times I'm sure you'll be shoulder to shoulder with other patrons which is entirely the point. They have great beers available, many German drafts as well as local favorites. Beers are sold by half liters, liters, and great big boots if you're desperate to swim in your beer glass. The liters are huge enough as is, a giant beer glass that my wife honestly had trouble lifting (she figured she was going to have two anyway.) She was happy that they had Schofferhoffer Grapefruit on tap, I stuck with a half liter of a Dark Weisse just in case I didn't like it. I shouldn't have worried as it was excellent and German beer is about as far from a lousy IPA as you're likely to get, but I did opt for a Dunkel for my second which was also great. We split an order of the Schnitzel Fingers to start. The paper menus were not very descriptive, but I guess we shouldn't have been surprised that this was Chicken schnitzel, flattened breaded and deep fried. The breading was great, and I think the flattened sections contributed to some pieces being overdone and a little dry in sections, but at least it was an actual schnitzel and did come with an excellent curry mustard for dipping (and ketchup.) We were interested in trying some of the traditional German entrees, such as Spaetzl, Sour Beef and Dumplings, and the Pork Chop, but we opted to each get a sausage instead. They come with either Onions and Bacon or Sauerkraut and Mustard according to the menu, but our waitress explained we could mix and match any of those (we stuck with S & M.) My wife's spicy sausage had a snap to it, but I was surprised at how tender my Bratwurst was (a sign of freshness?) I'm interested to know if German sausages are traditionally served on a bun, but who cares. This is a fun place to go to enjoy some great beer with food you don't get everywhere.

Our yummy food! (Fries with beer cheese, Bratwurst, Cobb Salad, Warm Potato Salad, and the Giant Soft Pretzel)

If you're just looking for a pint and a quick bite or a hearty German meal, Crossbar has you covered! The atmosphere in this open-air Biergarten is superb from it's picture perfect yellow picnic tables to it's gorgeous vaulted glass ceiling, it's any instagrammer's dream. My friends and I stopped in after a day in the city for a late lunch. I ordered the giant pretzel (with beer cheese, obviously) and the warm potato salad. Let me tell you, it was incredible. The pretzel was perfectly salted and doughy and not to mention, HUGE! It was seriously bigger than my face. It came with a delicious mustard dipping sauce and I added the beer cheese for a dollar extra... it was so worth it. The warm potato salad was perfection. It was packed with bacon and caramelized onion and garnished with fresh green onion on top. It was sweet, yet savory, and oh so tasty. I definitely would recommend Crossbar to family, friends, and to anyone that wants a great time. I can't wait to go back!

Upon entry they appeared to be closng down and said they go with the number of patrons to determine their closing time. This worked out greatly as once we arrived and only two other patrons were at the bar a swarm soon followed. Our favorite bartender is Laura. I noticed a huge difference in her making my drink and the other bartenders who only ask for your order but give no suggestions, do not offer to allow you to sample something on tap, and the potency. I soon realized that I will only recommend this place to others if Laura is the bartender. There were times we wanted to try something new, she asked a few questions and handcrafted us the perfect drink. Her personality was amazing, drinks were strong, and she kept people wanting to drink and be apart of the banter. If Laura isn't there I am not going. We went two nights in a row and the second night we were there we brought with us a couple we met who were in Bmore from Cleveland for a cruise. They enjoyed the place but it was missing her personality, patrons, and the drinks weren't as handcrafted, special or potent. now for the food. This is by far a pub with the best food I have ever tasted. I ordered the fish and chips that was an amazing fleshy piece of cob hand breaded and a jambalaya that too this day I am still dreaming about with its chunks of chicken breast, sauteed small pieces of sausage and gravy like texture filled with flavor that was bold and packed a welcomed punch. My partner had some type of irish sausage dish and loved it. We will return to visit Laura this spring for our next rendevous here for sure.

We stopped by on a Friday for lunch and they posted a strong emphasis on live entertainment. A friend who frequents the area mentioned their music nights are especially popular and can draw quite a crowd. The location sits right on the waterfront, and I can imagine the sunsets here must be spectacular. Although it is conveniently located just off the main highway not far from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, traffic noise never intruded on the dining experience. Our server was in the process of training a new staff member, and both were friendly, attentive, and polite throughout the meal. Menus are provided at the table, though prices are accessed by scanning a QR code. Pricing was very reasonable, and the menu offered a nice variety of both seafood and non-seafood options. The fish sandwich can be ordered either fried or grilled. The fish tasted fresh and flavorful, and the sandwich itself was satisfying without being overly heavy. While there was no house-made sauce, the freshly made potato chips were nice and thick, crisp and a standout side. Our friends shared a burger and a basket of fried shrimp, both of which they thoroughly enjoyed. Cold drinks arrived promptly and were perfect for the warm waterfront atmosphere. There were no overly complicated dishes or unexpected twists on the menu, but everything we ordered was well prepared, generously portioned, and tasty. This is definitely a spot I would recommend if you are in the area. Don't let the daytime appearance fool you -- this place clearly comes alive once the crowd and music arrive.

My wife saw they had black bean soup and a pork special, so we decided to stay and were seated. Since our last visit about a year ago, they've made some changes. The seating has been updated, with a second bar added along with high-top tables and booths. The space looks very nice. Our server came over, took our drink order, and we asked for a bowl of the black bean soup. When he returned, my wife asked how the pork special was, and he said it was very good, so she ordered it. I ordered the cod fish and chips. When the food came out, everything looked good at first. Unfortunately, the fish and chips were very greasy -- it seemed like the fries were placed on the plate to soak up the grease from the fish. My wife's pork dish was worse. She was given two slices with connective tissue running through them that were so tough she couldn't even get a fork into them. The other piece was also extremely tough and difficult to cut, and the gravy had no flavor. When our server finally came back to check on us, my wife showed him the pork. His response was simply that he would let the manager know and take it off the bill. There was no offer to replace the dish or bring her something else to eat. After that, we never saw him again. My wife eventually asked another server for tea, which a different server brought. Later, another server came by to see if we were finished. I asked how much the eggnog was, and she quoted the price for a bottle, said I just want a glass, she said I'll get you a menu I explained to another waitress I just wanted a glass. Eventually, I got it -- though I asked for it without ice, and it still came with ice. At that point, I just drank it. The best thing was the bean soup. Overall, this was not a good meal and honestly the worst experience we've had in the 10+ years we've been coming here. Between the food quality and the lack of follow-up from our server, it was very disappointing. It will be quite a while before we return.

It's in the middle of summer so it wasn't as crowded as it usually would be during the school year. The bouncer scanned my ID and told me "happy birthday" which was so nice (I love birthday wishes so )! Like definitely questions we could answer, the recall is the hardest part ESPECIALLY after having an orange crush. There was about 15 teams that participated and you have to get there early. We ordered a bunch of apps and entrees. I enjoyed my buffalo chicken dip and the fries are gas. It was so good. But I wasn't a fan of my jerk chicken tenders. I ordered an orange crush which was also really good. Service was cool. The girl check on our table constantly to make sure we were good. For parking to save our coins and time, we parked on UMDs campus and walked along the trail to the pub which only took 7-10 mins and UMD parking is free after 4pm. Honestly my coworkers and I would definitely come back again for happy hour or trivia. It's a vibe.
