I hired My Real Move for a local 20mile move within NJ for a single family house. These guys found me on Thumbtack and were very responsive during the booking process and answered all my questions. I had to list my entire inventory manifest, down to boxes and lamps, etc and was charged accordingly based on assumed cubic sq ft required, but in hindsight, felt totally unnecessary as the movers clearly didn't stick to this list and were moving everything in sight, including things we didn't want or expect, and left things behind that were included in the inventory. They showed up 45min late (which was only communicated after the scheduled start time via email) and completed the job in under 6 hours. They were definitely fast, but the entire move process felt chaotic and rushed. My husband and I have a newborn and couldn't keep as close of an eye on the move as we would have liked. Ultimately, while fast, they rushed the job and left boxes in wrong areas of the house (I.e, bedroom boxes were left downstairs, etc) and left a daybed disassembled that we now have to take care of ourselves. We didn't realize any of this until after they had already packed up and left unfortunately. Three stars for the fact that the movers were nice and hard working, and the ease of booking the job. We received a quote prior to booking and you would expect to pay the price quoted, but not with the individuals we worked with today! It was a man with long hair and glasses, when I started the day he states there was no boxes on the list, I understand that if there was a mistake. But if you are a moving company I'm pretty sure you're paid to haul boxes. He stated that he's not taking it, unless I make a deal with him. On the spot he said $200 for 8 boxes and he only takes 20% tip. I was confused how he came up with the number, he did not speak to a higher up or anything. Claimed that we would be on our own if we didn't give him the money + the tip he enforced. He managed to take the money and continued to high five me and attempt to hug me without a mask being on. I knew it was suspicious cause the minute he took the money, he split it with his buddy. No boss or anyone approved of it. I attempted to call the company for Alexandra who gave me the quote, but he got upset and kept deviating my conversations whenever I was on the phone with someone else. I tried talking to the boss, Ved when he dialed him but they spoke themselves without letting me speak. Disgusting behavior from a grown man. Later on at the actual move they attempted to take more money from my girlfriend just for moving it in their truck. I called her to ask why they were demanding $200 from a trip from Jersey City to Hackensack which is a 28 min drive. My girlfriend decided to call her older sister who was helping us with the move. Then she said she would deal with it, and they said they would not reassemble any of the furniture since we were not giving them money. Even though it was guaranteed to be reassembled. We ended it up reassembling it ourselves. Overall would not recommend this company or at least the two guys who work there cause a move within New Jersey came out to almost a grand! Thomas from the office responded to my request literally at midnight and walked me through the process. Price was very competitive. Movers arrived on time and were awesome. Leo and his team were fast, polite and careful with my items. I had a huge IKEA wardrobe and Leo explained to me that taking this piece apart and putting it back together would take at least 2 hours, and maybe I should consider leaving it behind and buy a new one for the same price. I was surprised that they actually cared about my budget! They arrived between 2-5 PM (closer to 4 PM) and gave me a call before reaching, just to confirm that I was ready. During the quoting process, we listed out all the items--furniture, chairs, bed, mirror, boxes, etc. When they arrived, they first verified the number of items matched the quote. They were okay with a few extra small boxes (2-4), but if something significantly bigger wasn't on the list, they either wouldn't take it or would charge extra. They charged me for 4 hours of work, and 3 movers showed up and completed everything within that time. They even moved 3-5 extra items without any hassle. They handled fragile items like the mirror and glass table with care, though they did charge $80 for packing materials. There was some damage to a dresser cabinet, but they compensated me for it. Overall, I'm satisfied with their service and would consider using them again.

The one star is for how accommodating they were while my belongings were in storage. They allowed me to access my belongings before I left because I had packed something I needed and they allowed my mom to drop off a couple of bags once I had actually moved away. I'm told these were favors as they usually don't allow these things...again though, had I had my own temperature controlled unit, I'd have been able to come and go as I pleased. it could very well be that all of my beef is with the shipping company. But based on the mold smell that still lingers in some of my clothes, it seems like that odor had been creeping in there for months. Full disclosure: My belongings hung out in their holding warehouse for many more months than originally anticipated. At least double the amount of time. When I first spoke them I asked about climate control...you see over the years I had built a collection of clothes and furniture that I care deeply about and I was assured moisture was not an issue and that it always stayed cool in the warehouse. To make things even worse, I had recently purchased my first adult mattress spending a very pretty penny for my quality of sleep; I even did my first payment plan for this mattress! I was not easy to work with, I admit. I had no idea the length of time it would take me to find a suitable dwelling in Oakland, CA. Each month, I'd pay the storage fee and say "not yet". I just figured it was more money in their pocket. Well, fast forward 8 months, I have my new home (finally, it was extremely difficult to find a place with my dog in the Bay Area) and I am ready to get my belongings. Most importantly my mattress. Oh how I had dreamed of that mattress and was looking so forward to getting to sleep on it again (I had JUST finished paying it off a month before I got my things). I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of everything. The wardrobe boxes arrived with an overwhelming stink of mold. The moldy smell still lingers on some of my clothes almost one year later. But, my heart was broken when the guys from the moving company they worked with unwrapped my mattress. I was assured by Supermovers that it was wrapped air tight. Supermovers placed the blame on the company that did the actual delivery and of course they blamed the storage facility it was in.. The mattress was dark brown, green, ugly shades of blue. It looked that mold had been growing for a long, long time. It was completely beyond repair. Picture frames and my desk had scratches, chips and nicks that were not there before. Lamp shades somewhat damaged requiring repair. But oh that mattress. Forget insurance. Mold is one of the only things not covered by renters/property insurance. Omar finally agreed to send me a check for less than a quarter of what the mattress cost. I still get nauseous thinking about it. So, pay the extra for the climate control if you plan on leaving you stuff there. I would hope that a local move within the same city would go smoother with them. At least for their sake. If you are planning a move your things to another state, I'd stay far away from them.

We had a complicated move- we needed two trucks, the trucks needed to be held overnight, my husband had woodworking supplies and I had a voice over booth that needed to be very carefully moved AND to top it off we couldn't start the actual move in to the new place until 4pm the next day! They never batted an eye - from the video walkthrough with Jesse to the incredible team who came for day 1 and day 2... we felt like we were in amazing hands the whole time.
