I have a gopher in my back yard. I hired this company several months ago. despite the traps and then they even put the poisonous bait in the ground and the gopher is still there. OMG. The absolute worst company I've ever dealt with. They overcharged me $50 for 2 visits which amounted to $150 for each gopher killed. I requested trapping rather than poisoning, but they poisoned them. Then they didn't come back. Ever. They did, however, blame me for not paying their invoice that was sent to the wrong email. After arguing that they did a terrible job, they threatened to send my account to collections. I phoned their manager from my land line to inquire about their pricing and was told it was $185 for the first visit and $65 for each additional visit. While I was on the phone with him, another manager called my cell number and left a message. I called back immediately and he claimed my cost was $300 for two visits. When I told him I had bee quoted the lesser price, he said he didn't believe me. I didn't tell him I had just gotten the quote 10 minutes earlier because I wanted to see what he would do. I ended up paying $250, but assured him that not only would I never use them again, but would leave a bad review. He said go ahead. Also, they list gassing gophers on their website but refused to do it. read more

One of our neighbors used CG (saw the truck on the street). They trapped a baby raccoon and it was crying for it's mom the whole night until about 10am the next morning. I called to ask if the baby raccoon was going to be held until they trapped the mother and reunited them. She told me, "nope, we have to euthanize them. It's the state law." If that's the case, be honest to your customers and don't state on your website that, "If baby raccoons are removed without the mother, we take them to Project Wildlife, where they are reunited with the mother once she's captured. We had left town for a few days and when we came back we heard scratching noises and what sounded like something between a growl and a hiss. I assumed it was a possum stuck in my kitchen vent hood. We immediately called several wildlife removal companies and Critter Gitters were the first to respond within 24 hours. They sent a very polite and respectful young man named Joshua to help us. When he opened the cabinet door leading to vent hood we discovered it was actually 2 parrots. One of whom was trapped in the ducting. I have never heard a bird make such an angry and terrifying sound but after seeing how it was kind of stuck in the ducting the sounds made sense. Do not trust a thing this company says. I also question the positive reviews, I bet they are there to bury the real reviews. I gave this company almost two years chance to make it right, and they never did. I reached out to get a wildlife that was making its home under my home. They guaranteed to remove. What they did was set a big cage outside the hole of my house where the animal seems to be digging. That hole just got bigger while that trap sat there, untouched. And they told me that was their service to leave a trap there for two weeks. I asked to pay for a service to get the animal. They send another guy to put the same traps. Same thing happened. Over and over again for over a year. I called and spoke with the owner and requested to just remove the critter and they said they would do the same thing. They were also inconsistent when they would come back and i had to repeatedly call to get them to come back...only to do nothing. This was a waste of time and $$$,. I will update with another company that I can recommend. I really tried to work it out with this company but they do not value customers. Nice enough people, but I didn't get any kind of value for what it cost. I had called them after hearing numerous raccoons on the roof of my house and previously having lost chickens to raccoons (confirmed visually, BTW... raccoons in the tree and all around my chicken coop, and seeing the remains of chickens torn up the way raccoons do). Obviously, I didn't just need confirmation that I had a raccoon problem, what I wanted was removal. They came and checked the roof and confirmed that raccoons had been up there. They left two humane traps, showing me how to set and bait them. They baited the traps for the first night but after that it was on me. OK, fine. Not a problem if it works. Their delivery visit and assessment took about 15 minutes. Obviously, It took them a while to get to my place so I'm not saying they only did 15 minutes of work. But their visit was very brief once they got there. The point being that it's hard to ascribe the total price to the time it took them to do the "work." In addition, if they had later needed to come to remove any raccoons, that would've been an extra charge of around $80. Per raccoon. All these traps did was catch the same opossum over and over again. And then there was so much rain that all the animals were staying away... I never heard any raccoon sounds on my roof during the rainy times and never had a raccoon in the trap during that time. So when it stopped raining, they called and said it was time to come and collect the traps. What? I paid almost $400 to rent less than $100 worth of traps for a couple weeks? With no results? I asked them if they could just leave the traps longer, now that it had stopped raining, to give me a chance to catch the raccoons. No reply. But they did show up and remove the traps. My mistake. But they certainly could have at least left the traps with me a little longer if they were interested in providing value for their service. My advice, buy your own traps, watch a video on how and where to locate and bait them, and then call animal control when the traps finally work. If I had done that, I would only have spent 1/4 as much money, the traps would be mine to use for as long as it takes, and I would eventually catch these damn raccoons. Lesson learned. And now YOU, fellow yelper, get to learn from my mistake instead of making your own. Just don't bother with this service. Not worth it. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Do not under any circumstance use them to eliminate rats from your home. They were originally in our crawl space and after months of having to call them out again and again (at least four separate times), all they managed to do was completely seal up my crawl space but failed to check to ensure the rats could not get into my house. Now I have rats under all the kitchen appliances and running through my kitchen and living room and they basically told us we just have to wait for the rats to get hungry enough to go to the traps. This has been going on since Monday and they have offered zero solutions. Honestly wish I had never called and just let the damn rats live under my house. read more

Our backyard became the playground and feeding area for a family of racoons, David and his great assistant, Dider, have captured five in total from our yard. The mother and her babies, were extremely destructive, tearing up the gardens, shredding pool toys and patio pillows, not to mention using the pool and spa area as their personal washing and bathing areas. David and Dider identified the yard delinquents quickly as racoons, set four catch and release traps with racoon bait. Then in a period of a week, Critter Gitters caught the entire family of masked bandits. David and Dider were so knowledgeable about wild life, always willing to answer questions and picked up the racoons promptly once they were trapped. Plus they are such nice people. David was quite an amazing guy. He seems to have an extraordinary sense about wild animals. He is both compassionate to them and knows how to capture them. He has the ability to approach a skunk trapped in a cage and keep it calm and placid. We had fleas in our yard and a lot of evidence of wild animals going in and out of it. David came and set traps for us. He got a opossum, a feral cat, and a skunk. He took the feral cat to a feral cat shelter, and relocated the opossum and the skunk to a wilderness area. Thank you to Critter Gitters for helping us with possums and a skunk. They trapped and removed several possums that lived under our house. Months later we saw on a night camera that a skunk was also using our crawlspace. This drove our puppy crazy at night, since he could perhaps hear and/or smell it. Critter Gitters installed a one way door and we confirmed on a night camera that it exited the crawlspace. It tried to get back in the next night, but couldn't, and it left. We haven't seen it since. The other day a baby rattle snake was in front of my garage. After scaring it off I called my current pest control that I assumed helped with these situations but was informed different. We pay them bi-monthly for a service. I was frustrated and nervous because I have two small children and was concerned for their safety. I called Critter Gitters and they came out the same day. Dave set up traps around the house and even looked through my kids backyard toys. The great thing is they cover all pests including SNAKES!!! Needless to say I will be switching to the Critter Gitters yearly services. It's actually about the same price but they cover more. And...On another note, I was showing my neighbor the snake traps and what did I see inside the trap??? A Snake!!! Their website boasts 24/7 service. Their trap caught a skunk on our property on Friday night. As it turns out they don't work weekends, but they never mention that fact. They charge $400 to leave the trap and won't pick up the animal until the work week. Very expensive for very poor service. read more

They trapped three squirrels on our property but haven't followed up when we asked them to come again. Two problems: (1) Their bait was useless; the squirrels ignored it. We had no success until we used our own peanuts as bait. We told the man from Critter Gitters about this, but he continued to use the same, useless bait. (2) The company failed to respond to three follow-up requests (email and telephone) when we spotted more squirrels. I guess their follow-up fee ($65) isn't worth it to them. read more

We called these guys for removing some skunks. They charged $160,came and left 2 traps. After a month of catching and releasing many possums we finally caught a skunk and called them. They didn't remember us. They came out, charged us another $65 to take the skunk away to be killed and took away the traps without letting us know. We called them again saying there were more skunks and asking why they took away the traps. They came back and left 2 traps. A couple of weeks later they came back and took the traps without letting us know. I called them and they said for $160 they only leave the traps for 3 days! They never said that before. I thought someone stole them. I wouldn't reccomend these guys. They are unorganized and have zero communication skills. read more

I have the utmost respect for David! My chicken coop was raided two nights ago. Two of my prized hens were gutted and my beautiful Rooster was seriously injured. I called David at 8:30 this morning. He called me right back and came out this afternoon, checked out the property, asking pertinent questions, and then set three traps for me. I felt very well taken care of. In addition to his critter catching skills, David and Di-Dier, his assistant, caught my rooster, checked him for injuries and ended up finding a deep cut on his neck inflicted by the raccoons. I would recommend this business highly. I could find no one to remove a bird's nest very high up at the roofline of my house, until someone suggested "Critter Gitters" to me. Dave was easy to work with, neat, upbeat. He removed the nest then installed plywood (which he went and purchased and painted) to prevent another nest next year. I will say, it takes patience to get Dave to your home: he's very busy and there can be delays. We had a whole family of raccoons eating our wonderful beets, pooping on our roof (their toilet), and digging into our garden hunting for grubs. A total of 4 raccoons were trapped and removed from our property over a period of about a month. Both David and Angela are courteous, concerned, and addressed our critter calamity excellently, while at the same time taking care of other customers' problems. Yes, they trapped and removed 4 skunks from our property. However, their interactions with us were less than professional and so I will not recommend them. Here's what happened...when I called first thing on a Monday morning they quoted me the price of $365 for capture/removal of two skunks on the phone and said they were very busy and may not be able to get to my property that day; but they would call me by 4:30pm to let me know either way. They didn't call and by 4:45 I went out to run errands. At 6pm their tech called to say he was at our house. When I arrived home, he quoted me the same price for two skunks and said it would be $45 for each additional skunk. As I said, they captured 4 skunks. When we got their invoice, they had charged us $65 for each additional skunk. When I questioned the charge, they called it a "misunderstanding." But it was no misunderstanding, we know what we heard him say. The next day we get an abusive call from the Tech who alleges we're trying to "pull something." Does Critter Gitters not know that it is really unprofessional and inappropriate for employees to do that; and also unprofessional that the Owner/Boss himself didn't call or email to try to clear it up. At the end of the day, we ended up paying their price, and at least they gave us a 10% military discount. But in short, as small business owners ourselves, we would not have handled a customer as unprofessionally as they did. I wrote the owner a long email of explaination, asking for an apology. I got nothing after days of waiting. So here I am on Yelp. My sense is they probably have more business than they can handle and they just...dont...care that they have an upset customer who will not refer them and will write a negative review on Yelp. We had several skunks living beneath our decking. Dave and Chris inspected the crawl space beneath our house. They located several tunnels that the animals dug. They used metal screening to prevent additional digging. They then installed one way doors so the skunks could exit the burrow but would be unable to return. They were friendly and professional. I had a skunk problem that turned into catching an opossum instead. I worked with Chris and he was very knowledgeable and friendly. They caught the opossum and then came to take it away, sealing up all of the open under house/deck spaces with one way doors. They'll be back after a few days once the animals have all left since they have no where to stay and seal up all open spaces to prevent future issues. Angela, who sets up the appointments, was very friendly and responsive to my calls. Total cost was a little more than originally quoted because of the additional open areas to close up, but worth it for the preventative measure.
