The Crestline came highly recommended and we were not disappointed! Our breakfast party of five was greeted and lead to a comfortable corner booth by our very pleasant and attentive server. Our order, A nice thick and juicy bone in ham steak, two perfectly prepared over easy eggs, perfectly golden brown hash browns with just enough crunch and a most wonderful floury biscuit with sausage gravy. Cream cheese stuffed deep fried French toast which was perfectly golden brown, with a side of fresh blueberry topping which by the way was, AMAZING!!! I should have placed an order to go. I ate there just last week. Their restaurant is for sale so I don't think they have the same good burger as before. Before It was fresh and piled high with all the things you get on a hamburger. This time the hamburger looked flat and lifeless and it was. A Big Mac is better without the long wait. Someone needs to buy this place and offer superb burgers and accept debit cards. We'd been to the Crestline Cafe at its old location, which was always fast, tasty, and less expensive than the other local diner option, Chef Cindy's. Our two experiences at the new location have been hugely disappointing, though. Today we arrived at 10:30 for breakfast to see a line out the door. That is because there was no host signing in and seating people. Parties were signing themselves in and one guy even had his name scratched out by another guest (shitty, but that kind of stuff can happen when you don't have a designated host working during rush). I never heard one party receive an estimated wait time. A few tables finished their meals and left, but nobody bussed the tables for other guests to be seated. After a while I complained to one of the servers, and she had a table cleaned and tried to seat us. However since there wasn't a host, she had skipped a party and they were understandably frustrated. We had the server seat them instead -- definitely not stuff your guests should have to figure out for you. Two more tables sat empty until I complained again, and we were finally seated after 45 minutes. No apologies were ever offered. It took another 20 minutes until our order was finally taken. In the mean time we had to ask 3 times for silverware so we could stir our coffees. When silverware was finally brought to us, one of the servers - a young guy - said that he just wanted to make sure it was clean for us. It wasn't. A knife had food on it, which he saw, but left for us anyways. 45 mins later our food finally came. It was really great food. The stuffed French Toast was terrific. But we were honestly too peeved with the speed and service to really enjoy it. Didn't end up leaving until 2 hours after we'd arrived. When I paid, I explained how disappointed we were, and the woman at the register simply said they were still working on managing the transition from a smaller restaurant. Clearly someone needs to get this place into shape. There aren't many restaurants on the mountain, and even fewer that specialize in breakfast and lunch, so this place could be a gold mine. This place is pretty awful. My Mom likes it though so I reluctantly go along with her. I've been here many times and have been disappointed every. single. time. Don't bother ordering guacamole in your omelette, because you won't get any. Instead you'll get some sort of disgusting green fluorescent sour cream concoction slathered over top. Fish sandwich? Think microwaved fish sticks on a bun. The waitress once told me that they don't make their own waffles there. What?! How does a breakfast joint not own a waffle iron? If I wanted Eggo waffles, why would I leave my own kitchen? It's just sheer laziness. I could go on and on. The bottom line is that they cut corners whenever they can. Not the best we went up there thinking Billy bears was still around and got this place so we decided to try it out after waiting 15 min to have someone take our order and watching several staff do nothing we thru enough hard looks to get our order. Over 35 min later we finally got our food. The fresh toast was flat however the blueberry pancakes were good. The stuffed French toast that another table got looked great but the regular French toast sucked. All in all I most likely will not take a trip back. read more

Our family of 5 are looking to buy a home and relocate to Crestline. We stopped at Crestline Cafe for lunch and ordered our food and then they brought our drinks. We drank our drinks and they sat there empty while we watched our waitress ignore us while she chatted with other cafe employees at the kitchen door. After sitting and waiting for over 30 minutes (I checked my watch) I walked over and asked why it was taking so long to get our food...and would they please refill our drinks. She told us it would be another 10 minutes for the food. A little later the waitress came by and refilled our glasses with ice tea...only problem is we were drinking cola. She seemed irritated that we asked her to take back the ice tea and replace them with cola. The food finally arrived...nice generous portions. The bread was hard...stale. I told the waitress and she said that is how squaw bread is...hard. It was obviously stale...she could care less. The chocolate shake was terrible...I could not drink it. It tasted like it was made with sour milk. The service was very slow and uncaring. It took over 40 minutes to get our food after ordering it. The food was not fresh and not good tasting...but the servings were large. We will never come back to Crestline Cafe. read more

I absolutely love this place! I have been here a few times and the food and service has always been spectacular! Today me and my fiance decided to take our friends out for breakfast. The staff really hustled and kept moving. After watching a few customers being quite rude it gave me a whole new outlook on servers. Waited to post a review after coming a few times. The food is great at breakfast! My friend complained that her scrambled eggs were overdone, but my biscuits and gravy and breakfast burrito were awesome. Fast service during the weekdays, and drinks were refilled quickly. We were hungry and gave the Crestline Cafe a try. We were not disappointed. Huge portions. Fast service. Great tasting food. I ordered the chicken fried steak and my wife ordered the shrimp tempura. Both were outstanding. The country gravy in my chicken fried steak was the best. My wife's shrimp was a large serving of shrimp. Most restaurants give 4-6 shrimp. She got 10. And they were tempura battered shrimp rather than the standard frozen breaded shrimp like everywhere else. We will be back. read more

Past 2 years my family and I have come to visit Crestline and we always make a stop here! The portions are big and hearty! Breakfast or lunch does not disappoint! They now serve beer and the prices are incredible! $2.50 for domestic and $3.50 for a IPA. read more

We had breakfast here this morning on our way home from the Lake Gregory Dragon Boat races. It was recommended at our hotel, Sleepy Hollow Cabins. I had a delicious omelet, my husband had sausage and eggs and our daughter had french toast. We all enjoyed the home style food and the coffee was great too. But even better than the food was the friendly service! At least five people came by our table to take our order, bring our food and ask if we needed anything else. Everyone had a smile. Our waitress Roxana was particularly sweet. I was so impressed that I stopped at the desk on the way out to tell the owner how delighted we were. I was surprised when he said there had been some bad reviews of the service on Yelp, so I wanted to be sure and put in my two cents. OK. We are longtime fans of the old Crestline Cafe when it was in Top Town. Quaint, friendly staff, and consistently good food, especially breakfast. So, I was concerned by the negative reviews for the new location, but we decided to try it today for Sunday breakfast. There was a wait to be seated because it was busy, but that was often true at the much smaller Top Town location as well. Once seated, we had drinks served quickly and our order taken immediately afterward. Our food was delivered about 12 minutes after ordering. Same quality and taste as Top Town. Maybe they have started to adjust to the new facilities. All was good. We'll be back. read more
