"Yum." "Yum" is the only word that my brain keeps repeating to me when thinking of what to write about Crest Cafe after eating here. I had the Mediterranean Nachos (off the Crest Favorites section of the menu, not the Sides section) and the Falafel Tacos. Both items were so delicious and bursting with flavor! The sauces compliment the food so well. Texture, taste, everything about the meal, was perfect. I previously had tried their Falafel Tacos, and I felt like I would be ordering them every time I came here...but I also feel that way after eating their Nachos, so who knows, I may feel that way about all their menu items! Service was great too. It isn't a large space, but it felt really open and light due to the bright interior. I believe there are only seven tables inside, mostly seating four people. There was a corner table that probably could seat about six to seven. I can't wait to try more items off their menu. It's already made one of my top favorites spots to eat in Elk Grove. read more

Food looks good. The tacos and fries i ordered had the same sauce which tasted like a mustard sauce which I don't mind. The nachos were probably the best thing on the menu from what I ordered but only thing that was bad was all the food was like warm. That kind of raises some Eye brows for the nachos cause the chips weren't hot. Meaning it could've just been sitting there for hours under a heated lamp for all we know. Over all everything was ok. If u don't mind a mustard taste then you'll find the food decent. The price is quite expensive as well and if u also don't mind like warm food then you'll be just fine. The Mediterranean Nachos were very unique and tasty. It consisted of meat, sauce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, and herbs served over fried pita chips. They were very delicious. Came here on a Friday night with a girlfriend for dinner. I had a salad and it was good. This place is really busy so service is a bit slow and they often don't ask if you need anything. I met my daughter here for lunch today, our first visit. Cute, clean little cafe. We were greeted at the counter by a sweet lady, she answered any questions we had about the menu. I ordered the lamb gyro pita, with hummus and tzatziki sauce. My daughter got a salad bowl with rice and chicken shawarma. The food came out surprisingly fast! We both totally enjoyed our food! The cashier/hostess brought a chilled carafe of water to our table and cleared our plates when we finished. They have a Sacramento location which we will probably visit in the future. As we enjoyed our food, we noticed a good amount of people picking up takeout. The restroom was very clean, too. Give this place a try, you won't regret it. read more

So yesterday, hubby and I was excited to try this place after seeing so many glowing reviews but was disappointed that the chicken kabob and chicken shawarma was dry. The sauces helped but needed a lot of it. I got the 'Build It Yourself' Chicken Shawarma rice plate (+added side of Chicken Kabob for $4) for myself and ordered a Chicken Kabob wrap for hubby. We agreed the Chicken Kabobs were more dry than the Shawarma chicken. There were a couple of other people who mentioned their chicken was dry but I didn't believe and wanted to judge for myself; well...they were right. However, to be fair I think it could be more of a hit or miss. I tried both the Chipotle sauce and Garlic Sauce. Chipotle has a slightly spicy kick to it but spices are strong (typical of chipotle) and reminds me a bit of a mildly spicy ranch-BBQ sauce. It was okay, didn't care for it much...I felt it was a little bit overpowering and I prefer more 'refreshing-tasting' kind of sauces like tzatziki or garlic sauce, but hubby thought the Chipotle sauce was fine since he generally likes that kind of flavor-profile. Though we both agreed the garlic sauce was definitely the favorite (it was mild, not too garlicky, perfectly balanced, refreshing and delicious). Next time I'll try the Mediterranean Nachos and will pick a hopefully less drier chicken option. I'll likely won't do the Kabobs again. Today however, I'm thinking of trying out "The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill" restaurant as comparison to see which I like better. read more

Was craving a good salad with meat and I was always attracted to the interior of Crest Cafe looking from the outside, walking by so I decided to stop here for dinner with my mom. The service was great and the cashier was very cheerful and helpful. We ordered a full-sized Greek Salad with added Lamb Gyro meat and a Plate with Grilled Chicken. The presentation was great and there was definitely a good amount of food served in each plate. The salad was served with a vignette that was light and added a bit of brightness to the dish. It was quite delicious and tasted fresh, so it was exactly what I wanted. The Gyro meat was also tasty as well, combined with the side of garlic sauce and feta which was also included in the dish. The garlic sauce was flavorful yet light and not over-bearing so I appreciated that. The Grilled Chicken also had good flavor! The interior and decorations of the store are beautiful, as well. Really gives off a nature, earthy vibe. Plus points for them playing some of my favorite tunes at the moment on their speakers! Well I wanted something new for lunch so I picked this place. I haven't been here and the reviews looked promising. Got a parking spot right in front of the place. I was greeted by the girl at the counter. She was very friendly and when I asked about the Mediterranean fries she told me that was one of their most popular dishes. I ordered it and I got a lamb wrap with onions and cucumbers added. I put the sauces on the side. I took it to go. There was a couple inside eating and several people came in to get to go like me. The place was nice and clean . I got home and dived into the fries. Wow great flavor but the chicken was over cooked and dry. Bummer, so disappointed especially the great flavor oh well next time. The nachos were so flavorful and the deep fried pita chips were crispy yet chewy in texture. Highly recommend trying this. I added gyro to my couscous salad which was fantastic. OMG! I live in Elk Grove and I don't know why it took me so long to try this restaurant. Everything was AMAZING. The pita nachos are a MUST, the pitas are crispy on the outside but still chewy in the middle. It's SO good with the chicken, sauce and all the good stuff that comes with the nachos. Definitely a must share item. We also built two bowls, one with garlic chicken and one with chicken kabobs. Both with garlic sauce and chipotle sauce. Have been a long-time fan of Crest Cafe in downtown Sacramento. Since I'm retired and living in the burbs, I thought I'd give this a try. The food was delicious!! I had the couscous salad and the lettuce was so tender and flavorful that I wonder if they'd picked it that morning. Elk Grove has a new Mediterranean restaurant in town and they will keep foodies, like me, eating locally! I previously had to travel downtown or up the foothills to have a taste of the Mediterranean including salads, bowls, falafels, gyros, shawarmas, and humus. Now I can don't have to travel far which is perfect timing with the current gas prices. Crest Cafe is the same owner group as the one downtown and they brought their A Game with them. I've had their Mediterranean Nachos and Mediterranean Bowl so far and I am impressed by their quickness to deliver my meal (~5 minutes), warm chicken and chips, cold vegetables, homemade sauce, and just the way all the ingredients work well together to create a healthy meal. Remember to grab one of their drinks, I like the Sanpellegrino as the best pairing. Food is delivered to the table, not just loudly called out, and a cold glass bottle of water is provided. Prices are reasonable and the plate quantity fulfills my mealtime. There's 8-10 tables and parking is easy and plentiful.
