Was in the area and looking to try something new. My girlfriend had been here a number of times, with growing up in Elk Grove. And having also gone to thos place for lunch, and because I really enjoy Mediterranean food. I decided to give it a try for dinner. Stopped in around 8:30 and were the only patrons in the restaurant for that part of the evening. I looked over the menu and asked several questions about dishes, and decided on the two meat plate. I ordered the chicken and beef skewers option, which came with rice, a vegetable medley of shredded lettuce, cabbage and carrots, and pitabread with a green sauce in the side. Total: $21.00 Everything was fine until, I took a bite of the rice and realized there was plastic in my food. *see picture* I hadn't eaten much of the food yet, and unfortunately was pretty much dknewith my meal after that. Overall: Female staff member was really nice and very helpful in. She was also very social. Meal was a little on the pricier side in my opinion, for a two meat Kabob plate. Jist good g off other similar Kabob dishes I get being around $15. Food tasted good, but I couldn't get past the plastic in my food and didn't finish the rest. The portion sizes and ratio of meat to rice makes me upset every time! I stopped paying for food from here myself a long time ago because I feel like I'm paying $20+ for mostly rice and its not justifiable. Of course though if someone else is willing to buy then I'm usually willing to eat it. I got the beef kabob plate. It was MAYBE 2.5-3oz of meat. And the flavor and care just isn't there for me anymore as it was before (been going since they were located at Franklin and Laguna). Unfortunately, at this point I'd rather go spend money at one of the many CHAIN restaurants that now surrounds them and feel satisfied that my or loved one's hard earned money goes a lot further than eat food from here again. Nothing like the picture and barely any meat. The beef was tough and the naan was like a tortilla it was the worst Mediterranean food I ever ate. No sauce the salad dressing was so sour. Kabab palace is a hidden gem with a cozy, intimate, and warm atmosphere. Every dish was bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. Honestly the kabab was just perfectly marinated and bolani was just right crust. The staff was attentive and accommodating. Food came on time and the waitress kept coming to ask if we need anything. I usually go to Rumis Oasis - the other Arab/ Afghan spot in this same parking lot but was directed here by Yelp when I was hungry one Sunday afternoon - I got the potato bolani and a chicken kabob plate : this kinda cuisine is always mad expensive and they are always stingy with the portions lol. Our group of 8 also ordered hummus and nan which was delicious. The nan is not greasy and the hummus was nicely seasoned savory. My kabobs were very tasty and the basmati rice was very flavorful! The restaurant could not open our wine as it seems they do not have a license to sell alcohol. Service was great, however, the restaurant wasn't terribly busy on a Thursday evening. By far the most trashiest place I have ever been! I have respect for The previous owners of this establishment and they knew what they were doing but by God Damn horrible customer service under new ownership! Mom made a request for a dish for a family member that passed away we wanted to bring a dish to pay respects for 4 people, the woman at the front saw my mom in her work jacket and charged her $80 for two scoops of rice and burnt chicken that did not look like it would feed 4 people and presentation was horrible. My mom asked why things were burnt and why there was not enough food for 4 people as requested, the lady behind the counter broke out of customer service told my mom she works for a big company based on the jacket she was wearing saying if she wasn't pinching for change and being "a cheap ass and cough up more money you get what you pay for" my mom said " excuse me?!? I work hard for my money spending $80 and I get chicken scratch burnt food and told I need to cough up and not be a cheap ass????? I dnt feed off welfare to waste government money and get paid under the table as you!" If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. I've gone here a few times and today I ordered a 2 chicken kebab combo. I was given a 1 kebab combo with an extra rice. I asked if they can give me another kebab and what the difference would be since I originally ordered a 2 kebab combo and she said that they don't do that that she can only sell me an extra kebab as a rice plate. She refused me several times and said I was confusing when she knew what she was doing was completely absurd! She wanted to argue instead of fix the order and I would've paid the difference of three dollars to get my two kebab Meal. I'm torn here on my review. We got it to go and ate in our car out front. I got the beef and chicken kabob with salad, rice and bread. Mine was super fresh, hot and delicious. Chicken and beef seasoned well and really hit the spot. The beef was a little tough, but the chicken was tender. My hubs got the gyro with a super pitiful thin single slice of meat that was dry and looked and tasted like cheap lunch meat. The gyro was small compared to gyros we've gotten other places. He was left feeling like he had an appetizer and not a very good one. He got a double double on the way home. Friendly service. Masks were worn. Plastic screen up around cashier and kitchen area. Food was decent, service was horrible. They took forever to offer me drinks, and wouldn't vome check on us. Because of the shopping center it is at I thought it would be nice, but it's ugly and dirty. Looks more like a cheap fast food place than a real restaurant.
