It was better than the garlic chicken and chicken shawarma. It wasn't because they weren't good but the flavors from the sauce and onions were so much better. Our nephew was in town visiting and we wanted to go some place new to eat. We chose Mediterranean style foods and found Crest Cafe. It's a clean and bright place with youthful-energy decors. It's quite stylish, including the menu. For appetizers, we ordered Mediterranean Nachos (my favorite, very flavorful, it's a must try), Mediterranean Gyro Fries (delicious) and Hummus. I've tried Crest Cafe in Downtown, but never their EG location. We were in the area looking for a light and refreshing meal and gave Crest a try. We shared a Greek salad with the most excellent dressing. We got the Mediterranean nachos which were AMAZING! These are not your run of the mill nachos. The fried pita chips brought this up to a whole new level. The chicken shawarma had a little heat to it and topped with garlic sauce and tomatoes. We thought we couldn't finish it because it was a very generous serving, but it was so good, we couldn't stop until it was all gone. We couldn't stop thinking about the nachos so we came back a few days later. We still can't get enough of this! The shop is relatively small, but clean and very cute. It's in a shopping center with Dollar Store and Maru Ramen. Service was good. You order at the front and they bring your meal to your table. Based off the employee's recommendation I chose the Mediterranean Nachos over the fries (sorry fries). Oh my goodness, this was amazing! Pita chips freshly made and held up extremely well as my scooping vessel. Everything tasted so fresh and the chicken shawarma...wow! I could eat just that alone! My very first time ordering from Crest Cafe. It's a cute little restaurant, casual dining, bright and clean. I ordered the Shawarma beef with rice and side salad. I wanted beef shish kabobs they only served chicken kabobs, I think. The side salad was very fresh, with healthy greens, red bell peppers, diced tomatoes, diced red onions, carrots and cucumbers. The dressing was a very light Greek vinaigrette dressing that was pretty tart with a salty kick that was complementary to the taste. The beef was sliced very thin, like tiny stir fry strips, seasoned well. The white rice was a great balance for the saltiness of the beef, but it also got pretty greasy with the oil from the meat. Overall, the meal was good, and filling, but i couldn't place what I was missing. I chose the chipotle sauce and garlic sauce, but i didn't feel it helped. I should've chose the creamy Greek sauce. There was also two very small pieces of pita bread, but probably could've used another slice or two for the saltiness in the meat. The server was very nice, and patient with my order, but wasn't able to describe some of the dishes to know how it's cooked I think more photos would've helped for some of the names I didn't understand. It didn't have any grill on it or any Caramelized bits and was covered in a creamy sauce if some kind. Not bad but I prefer my meat to be from a rotisserie or a grill. My boyfriend ordered the beef tacos and the nachos. He gave me a taco and it was unique, same wet meat with an unidentifiable sauce, apparently it's avocado hummus with eggplant salsa and chipotle tahini sauce. It was a bit of an odd mixture for me but overall it was fun to try. Just not good enough for me to order for myself. I tried a bite of the nachos- fried pita chips were thicker than I was anticipating, topping were not memorable but not bad. We were not greeted when we came in and I got a weird vibe from the young lady at the counter like she didn't want to help us. My husband wanted to try something new and I've been to and loved the Crest Cafe before so was excited when I saw there was one in Elk Grove. We decided to try it and so glad we did. The location is perfect for photos and very clean. We were greeted with a smile! We ordered the chicken and beef shawarma plates, which didn't take long to receive but we were the only ones there. They were hand-delivered to us, which we appreciated. The food was so fresh and delicious. Great portion sizes so we have more food leftover for dinner tomorrow. I was recently at this Crest location, and the Anti-black sentiment was felt. I waited over 40 minutes for 2 orders , which Iwas informed that I would have to and I agreed. Even when the combined 40 minutes wait time was over, and I was sitting waiting, I was totally ignored. It was like I did not exist until I spoke up and asked about my order. I received a kind of stand off ish welcome, while there other Caucasian and Middle eastern customers were warmly greeted. As a resident of Elk Grove for over 12 years we need to support businesses that treat all people with respect and kindness. We do not need any business that greets its customers that are white better than its customers who are black. That is racist period. I will never go back to the Crest Cafe again!!! read more

The food is great, the flavors are packed in and there is a great balance with sauces. I order the Mediterranean bowl with garlic chicken, it's a personal preference and a nice protein packed good fat meal. Mediterranean nachos are also a hit and shareable, the feta, tomatoes, onions and cucumbers make it so good but what really takes it over the top are the fried pita chips, crunchy outside and chewy inside Yum!
