I can't even imagine level 5 spiciness.
Antonia S.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE LEVEL OF SPICINESS ONLY AND THE OPTION THAT DARBAR ALLOWS YOU TO CHOOSE: Spice choice on my $70 food order for my family with no spice/mild and they gave us VERY spicy. Great. $70 down the drain so it's going straight into the trash. BOOOO Darbar, if you're going to have an option for how spicy the food is then be accurate. Sure, I understand these things can be relative but come on---Option 1 is supposed to be mild. The whole family was disappointed. NOW, TO BE FAIR & OBJECTIVE, If Darbar changes this huge mistake....actually, if they make an option with no spice at all we will definitely come back as return patrons because the food smells, looks, and is VERY delicious UNTIL 5 seconds of you chewing you realize this isn't going to work.

We stopped in for an early dinner, 4 in our group. The reviews were right, Darbar is amazing! We had delicious vegetable Pakora while we decided on our other courses. After some deliberation we ended up with a beautiful Hyderabadi Veg Dum Biryani , accompanied by Butter Chicken, Vegetable Korma, Borani Banjan (a delicious Afghan eggplant dish), Shrimp Curry and a Paneer dish. Beverages were tea, rose milk, and the best mango lassi! The service was great. Parking is easy. Neighborhood isn't terribly inviting however we will definitely go back for this food!

Very, very delicious panipuri! A must try.

To be sure, for me, the dicey parking situation is almost enough to keep me away BUT, I'm so glad I didn't let it! This is my second time here, but it has been a while. The food is tasty and well prepared and offers a great variety of options from snacks to entrees and desserts. The service was good and the room is large and comfortable and can accommodate small groups or families easily. There is also an electronic billboard that showcases some of the foods and is behind the counter. I began with panipuri as an appetizer. How does one describe these most delicious crispy cups of chutney, potato and chick pea? Just DELICIOUS and fun to eat! I enjoyed them so much. There are 6 pieces to an order and designed to share. But it was only me and I enjoyed each one of the six (maybe why I had so much of my entree to take home!) I ordered Lamb Saag. The portion is enough for a second meal, if alone. I actually ended up having 2 meals at home with the remainder. The lamb saag(spinach) was tasty and the meat was quite tender and spiced just right for me. I asked for less spice and was happy with what I got. The rice was separately priced but a large portion. I ordered the plain naan which proved a wonderful accompaniment for scooping the lamb. It was flaky, hot and tasty! I am already planning a return with my niece for our September monthly luncheon outing. They also offer Chinese and Afghani dishes. Perhaps I'll try their Afghani fare next time. I like Afghani food too. Do yourself a favor when in the area and enjoy a meal here. If you like Indian food, I don't think you can go wrong.

Everest Curry in Sacramento was an absolute win…read more From the moment we walked in, the restaurant was clean, welcoming, and inviting. We were greeted by the sweetest waitress, who promptly took our drink order and then gave us a few minutes to look over the menu without feeling rushed. For appetizers, we chose the Nepali samosas, mushroom pakora, and goat cheese naan--every single one was delicious. I usually order the Chicken Tikka Masala, but this time I decided to switch things up and try the Butter Chicken. I can honestly say I was not disappointed. Paired with the garlic basil naan, it was perfection. A little piece of naan, a small scoop of basmati rice, and a drizzle of that rich, flavorful butter chicken was absolutely chef's kiss. The portions were generous, and I had plenty left over. Now I'm genuinely looking forward to lunch tomorrow so I can relive the experience all over again. If you're looking for incredible Indian and Nepali food in Sacramento, Everest Curry is definitely worth a visit.

So we went for the butter chicken. We got two to go and it came in maybe a 18 oz container. For the price of 17 bucks, you would assume it would come with rice and naan. It did not, it was an additional 7 dollar charge which would have brought this meal to 24! Pricey! The butter chicken was great. Really loved the softness, creaminess mixed with middle eastern spices. For the price point however, I have to rate it lower. feels a little skimpy. remember taquerias with complimentary salsa bar and chips..

The potato samosas were absolutely on point, crispy, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The vegetable pakoras were delicious, especially with the authentic tamarind and mint chutneys for dipping. We also ordered the chicken fried momos with chili sauce, and wow! They arrived perfectly cooked, hot, and full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully made. Abdullah, our waiter, was gracious, welcoming, and attentive. We were the only guests there for lunch, but the restaurant felt clean, warm, and inviting. It is clear they care about both the food and the customer experience. I recommend this place, if you are looking for authentic Nepali and Indian food. We hope to be back next time I'm in Sacramento area!!

Decent Overall Indian & Nepalese Cuisine Restaurant…read more SITREP My pal-about-town Bambi took me to a new place to celebrate a new tasty find: the New Kathmandu Kitchen! THE SETUP New Kathmandu has a very nice & varied menu with many different selections: beef, chicken, prawns, other seafood, tofu, etc. you can find your favorite protein, combination of proteins, or vegetable proteins to form a base of your spicy dish. OUR MENU CHOICES Bambi's: * Vegetable Pakoras ($6.95) - we started with these scrumptious vegetable appetizers with 2 different spicy dipping sauces. * Chicken Tikka Kabab ($17.95) - entree only - it was good, but a bit spicier than Bambi had wanted. Mine: * Raita ($4.95) - a yogurt-based Indian side dish made with yogurt, vegetables, and a mix of spices and herbs (good to have to help *cool down* the tongue from the spicy main dishes. * Chicken Tikki Masa ($17.95) - entree only - creamy and smooth, and delicious. But not enough heat. * Steamed Basmati Rice ($2.45) - a necessary accompaniment for Tikki Masala sauce in IMHO. * A small soda ($3.45) The main hiccup was that my Tikki Masala was supposed to be the spicy dish, and Bambi's Tikka Kabab was supposed to be the mild dish, but they came out opposite. But not too disastrous: as I mentioned my creamy smooth Raita was a godsend for Bambi's abused tongue. DEETS * Located in East Sacramento along J Street, from Midtown, New Kathmandu is easy to get to by BUS 30 (CSUS). * It also has it's own private lot behind the restaurant. In a quasi-residential community, there seems to be ample street parking as well. PRICING METRICS THAT MAKE ME SWALLOW HARD * Unlike most other restaurants, New Kathmandu surcharge charge on your meal if using your credit card: our % ended up as an extra $1.75 on my credit card (my payment-preference). Note: There is no surcharge to use your debit card, and obviously none with cash. * Everything here, while delicious, is a la carte: there is no combo dish per se that includes your desired dinner items: the Chicken Tikki Masala, the Jasmine Rice (I chose to get), and the Na'an (I chose NOT to get) were all separate charges. But not extra expense metrics that were TOO unpalatable (I might even come back here), but when considering your favorite restaurant choices (and you envision all the options you like in your head), I'm more prone to go to a restaurant that provides more bang for its buck without *nickeling & diming* us patrons. And I have to admit, this is nowhere near the worst fees & extra charges experience I've had recently, although this restaurant-going metric is happening more and more often these days with a LOT of different restaurants (I hate showing up to places and only then getting ambushed with extra expenses that were unheard of 3-5 years ago). THE LOWDOWN Overall, a yummy exotic dinner experience with excellent dinner options and tasty appetizers, all with spicy scrumptious spices and sauces. With the mentioned hiccups and small disappointments, between a 3 and a 4, so I'll round up to 4 stars. But definitely worth checking out if feeling Indian food and in the area.

Amit answered the phone and that conversation ended my stress! Amit took the order I made with the other restaurant, gave me a quote and 15 hours later he was setting up our buffet for 40 people. So many times as customers we have to choose between the food we love and the customer service we want. At Bombay Bar and Grill you don't have to make that choice. Amit was a great partner and eased my stress and literally delivered in every way possible. Amit was so professional, warm and responsive to our every need when he fulfilled and delivered our delicious food. The butter chicken disappeared into thin air, the naan was super fresh, soft and warm. The chana and samosa were savory and hit the spot! Even the chai was hot with the best blend of spices! I can't wait to come in and actually sit down and have a dinner with Bombay. Until then, all my gratitude to Amit and the full staff there. See you all soon. PS if you need catering, call now!
