I have been going to this restaurant for 25 years and in the past have always been satisfied with service, quality and value for the money. Over the past couple of years the food quality has been slipping, I noticed it first with the omlets, they are always overcooked so I quit ordering them. They only sell meatloaf when its the special and Thursday night so I went last night. The meatloaf was dry and flavorless, waitress did not ask me if i wanted gravy they just smothered my meatloaf in gravy. They must have been out of rolls so they brought us cold dry biscuits instead without even telling us. All of this and our waitress was one of those waitresses that should never work as a waitress, worst service ever. I will not be returning. read more

Crowded on Herb Affair Saturday, this seat yourself diner south of downtown Sand Spring has historical photos of the area on the walls. Very reasonably priced breakfast and nice,quick service. Hungry man breakfast came with three eggs a bit overcooked,4 link sausage that were not the best of quality,but delicious perfectly cooked hash browns (everywhere Tulsa knows how to do has browns it seems) and two pancakes...which were good and came with plenty of syrup. The Danish had a full stack of blueberry pancakes.He said the top one was kinda crispy and almost too brown but others pretty good with lots of fat juicy blueberries. A travesty. This is a very local seat yourself place somewhere in the boonies west of Tulsa and south of downtown sand springs. Be cautious, the first booth we tried was broken. The menu is a clear indication of why people in Oklahoma die on average 3.5 years earlier than other Americans - the Lighter Side breakfast is just Breakfast other places. The food is good, not amazing, but beware the fruit bowl. It's merely a can of peaches in sugar syrup poured into a bowl. Most of the customers were pretty old, so I assume this is what it was like to eat out for breakfast in the 70's before they discovered fresh fruit. The saddest part is that many other small out of the way communities have a much better feel on what it means to provide good and healthy food at good prices. read more

Started off on a bad note with the waitress leaning over as she placed the menu on the table greeting me face to face with nasty cigarette breath-she'd obviously just went out for a smoke. Ugh! When she brought our lunches they were warm not hot. I like hot food hot and cold food cold. Who knows maybe Susie Q had to go outside again for another drag on her cigarette. Waitress said their mashed potatoes and gravy were good; I'd hate to taste what she considers bad. Green beans were little stubs and end pieces like the bottom of a bag of french fries. Boneless chicken was actually pretty good; sure would've been better if it had been served hot. They had muffins & cookies on display by the cashier. Grabbed a muffin to share. It was greasy & gooey. So awful that neither of us ate it. Absolutely the worst muffin I've tasted in my life. If you like to wait this is your place... wait to have your order taken, wait for cold food that's supposed to be hot, & wait while the cashier chitchats with another employee before ringing up your tab. Visited this place today for breakfast. We drive past it daily and the parking lot is always full, so I figured it couldn't be bad. WRONG!!! I had the Hungry Man and the wife had a standard 2 eggs breakfast. They have a TV hanging for your viewing, and when we walked in The Price Is Right was just coming on, the waitress took the order and when we got our food The Price Is Right was going off!! After 3 or 4 bites I called the waitress and ask if she would put my plate in the microwave for a couple of minutes. Things went down hill from there and I can just say I made 2 trips in one. I was looking for the best place in town for a hearty breakfast, and a local friend recommended Crescent Cafe. Spacious location with big windows and plenty of light. Country decor with lots of advertising for local businesses. Patrons and servers alike were friendly and sociable. The breakfast menu is basic, with all of the classic favorites. There aren't any fancy dishes or exotic ingredients, but that wasn't what I was seeking today. My omelet was chock-full of meats and veggies and well prepared. Hash browns could have been browner (to my tastes), but I neglected to ask specifically for that modification. Biscuit was fresh and light, gravy did not have any visible sausage, but was tasty and not gluey. Pancakes and waffles at other tables looked delicious, and sugar-free syrup was available by request. My server was energetic and attentive and friendly as could be, although it looked like other staff might have been less than enthusiastic. When I asked for "some sugar" I was offered a kiss-Laura was a sweetheart! My food came out of the kitchen hot and quick (just like my men. Just kidding. About the men, not the food!) And the prices are incredibly reasonable. Nothing on the breakfast menu is more than $6.95. Good value for ample portions. And breakfast is served all day. Wife and I thought we would give them a try. First impression...uncomfortably warm on a relatively cool day...they said they couldn't help it. Booth seats badly worn and make you feel like you're going to fall through. Prices are decent, service OK although my wife's first choice of soft drink on menu was not available...food was mediocre at best.... vegetable was out of a can. Home style food, always fresh, and the waitresses are the best. Three of us have big meals for less than $30! My favorite meal is the supreme omelette with biscuits and gravy.
