What a special place this is!!! Located on the Lachine Canal (please correct me if that's incorrect) this popular local eatery has people lined up for Sunday breakfast. We didn't have to wait long to be seated near the back by an open (but screened-in) area, right by the "window" overlooking the canal. We ordered our coffee and put in order while watching streams of people come and go. There was such a huge selection of fabulous, mouth-watering items on the menu that ranged from crèpes to french toast and sandwiches that it was difficult to choose. I had Le Brise, comprised of french toast, loads of sweet, crispy and fresh fruit in season and custard sauce. Québec Maple syrup was brought to the table, just in case we didn't have enough sweetness. My friend had the scrambled eggs, toast, home fried potatoes & baked beans. The ambience was light and service was quick between servers setting up for a large party behind us and another party in front of us, and the two teenagers beside us who received a lot of attention from the younger server. Next time I'm in town, I will come back, especially since we got to take a walk along the canal over to the beach where some bathers were taking advantage of the glorious weather. read more

We had been here for brunch once before and decided to try their Italian dinner menu. We went last night with friends. They had a complete dinner menu with soup, salad and dessert for $41. I had the scallops and risotto, my friend had the veal Marsala And my partner had mussels. Everything was delicious and to top it off the dessert included four delicious choices or cappuccino. They also have a standard menu with many choices. We sat on the patio overlooking the lake and since it was cool, they had the patio covered with heavy plastic and heaters. Next to the saint Laurent river, great view on the terrace. First time I tried brunch and this time I tried the dinner. The food is great and l love the bread with the special dipping sauces. It's been a while that I haven't gone to this restaurant and honestly, it did not disappoint. The service was wonderful. Our waiter was very knowledgable kind patient, informative and attentive all very important points. The food was delicious. We selected the table dote. I opted for the beef, flank, medium rare. It was cooked more medium than rare. However, it still was tender. The fries were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside the sauce, pepper sauce was buttery. My friend opted for the veal parmigiana it was very tender, and it did not disappoint. The table. Dote came with a Caesar salad my selection. It was very good not too much dressing just the right amount of crispy garlic, croutons, and enough bacon to satisfy my needs. We opted for a drink. Mine was a cranberry amaretto very tasty not stingy with the alcohol and my friend with an amaretto sour. She advised me that it was very good as well. An EXCELLENT meal for our 19th anniversary. The Filet Mignon was absolute *perfection*; our compliments to the chef! The red wine was delicious, and the waiter was VERY friendly and warm, making it a VERY enjoyable experience! They even treated us to a chocolate mousse dessert! Getting brunch in Montreal seems like the right thing to do. While leaving two members of our traveling party to finish their final papers at the AirBnB we were staying at, the rest of our party had stumbled upon this establishment. I thus had my first direct experience in the Francophone sphere by way of our bilingual wait staff, as well as the older patrons that were having brunch here at the same time as we were. I felt so fancy! When in French Canada, eat French food! I ordered a sandwich doré, essentially a French toast sandwich with an egg and ham in the middle, topped with fresh fruit and Swiss cheese. The menu looked like it had a bunch of great options, and I'd definitely love to stop by here again. Our outdoor seating had us near a lovely view of a river with several boats docked, and thus I could understand why we were surrounded by the elderly enjoying brunch on a Wednesday morning. read more

Stopped in for a little date night with my girl in the area, unknown to my self I had eaten here many moons ago as a kid visiting my mimi. When we arrived it was a pretty glint day but the weather has started to warm up so the views that we got of the water along the canal were great. From Sunday to Thursday they run a special for dinner where you can get a soup/salad main dish and coffee for 17$. We decided to go with the special meal of the day offered in this promotion which was a chicken and prosciutto rose pasta along with an entree order of mussels. Before we even decided on what to order we were brought a couple of pieces of bread and some bruschetta toppings to make ourselves and then some bread and tomato sauce. This is a nice upgrade from your usual bread and butter/oil combo. The promotional meal had a choice of salads and the ceaser that we got was very good with the exception of the bacon being a little to hard and making it bit of challenge to eat. The mussels were cooked perfectly and weren't overpowered by the marinara sauce they were cooked in. The pasta was cooked nicely and had a good balance of toppings. To end the night we had a baileys coffee and tiramisu, the highlight was the coffee as the edges of the tiramisu were a little to congealed for my liking. Overall a great place and I'd love to come back in the summer to see that view of the water with breakfast ! read more

Really cool place by the water in Verdun. They are right across a Marina and have a huge parking available. It really is a prime location for a sunny, family Sunday stroll since the restaurant is right next to plenty of kids playground (to evacuate the energy they accumulate after eating) and right next to cycling path. As an eggs Benedict aficionado, I was not disappointed by the variety. I mean this place has so much dishes you have no choice but to come back. Outstanding lunch after a long hike along the St. Lawrence shore. Sitting ion an enclosed heated outdoor patio with gorgeous view of the river. We each had a salad. My wife had the homemade salad with smoked salmon, I had the warm fromage de chèvre salad. Both were superb: Thoughtfully composed with an exquisite balance between the salad base and the accoutrements. We ordered the small size and were amazed enough at the generous size of the portions that we asked the waiter whether he'd accidentally brought the large size. Add to this a fine white wine (Sauvignon Blanc), and prompt, attentive and knowledgeable service, and you have the makings of a first-class restaurant. Based on this admittedly small sample from their menu, I give Crescendo a 5-star top rating. read more

Discover this restaurant for the first time. It's just right by the river in Verdun. Totally hidden from the up and coming restaurants in Wellington st. The inside is very nice and pleasant. I.e. not out dated. Recommended to make a reservation if you want to eat by the terrace. The table d'hote from Sunday to Thursday is what I go for. Great price and good portions. read more

This is a great little restaurant located just a few minutes from my house, so I will likely be eating here a lot. I love sitting outside to eat in the summertime, and this place offers a great view to do just that. I went for brunch and was not disappointed with my French toast with fresh fruit and English cream which I ate while overlooking the St.Lawrence River. It looks like they have heaters on the terrace for cooler days/nights, which is great. It is also located by a bike path and park, where you can walk off your meal when you're done ;) Te service was pretty good. The initial girl to bring us to our table didn't really say anything, so I was happy when I realized she would not be the waitress taking our order. A young waiter served us and was quite friendly. This place would get 5 stars if the portion sizes were a little bit bigger. The prices seem to be the same as any other restaurant, but I was able to eat my whole meal without feeling stuffed (which might be a good thing haha) and I felt I could have eaten a little more. read more

Oh, I just LOVE this place. Situated by the water in Verdun, Crescendo is a great little gem. Clean and always well organized in terms of service, we've never had a bad experience here in the last couple months (been back 5 times already!). The food is yummy, the portions are massive, presentation is great, and the prices are awesome. You really can't go wrong. They have great soups and salads (you have to try their arugula salad..and their salmon salad..mmmm) as well as good meaty platters as well. Always served with a free appetizer of bruschetta, followed by lots of bread and in house marinara sauce.. I want to go back just thinking about it. A great place for a quick and chill bite to eat. I went for brunch with a group of 12. During our service, we ordered 5 fruit cocktails and all 5 were salty. After sending them back, they came back salty *again*! Aside from that flop, I'll admit that we were all quite satisfied wit our meals. The brunch menu was quite typical and they didn't go out of their way to make it particularly special. Bat that's ok, cause sometimes, all you want is an american-style breakfast. No frills. And, well, that's what you'll get at Crescendo. The one thing the place really has going: the view! The view is great, parking ample, the restaurant is nice, service is great and food is good (potatos are amazing!). The restaurant's acoustics are kind of bad which is my only bad thing to say. On a nice sunny afternoon, I dropped in for a coffee and dessert to enjoy out on the terrace. I chose the creme caramel and an allongé. My first impression was that my waiter found my arrival inconvenient (yeah, that kind of waiter). Second impression: he brought my dessert to me in a chipped bowl. A big chip missing from the top rim. There were not many people there (2 couples), so he wasn't rushed off his feet and should have noticed. He didn't seem to care. The creme caramel itself was just so-so. Nothing to write home about. Slightly overcooked and rubbery around the edges, more burnt flavor that the classic, nutty toasted flavor to the "caramel". The allongé was meh. If you go, do it for the view. But don't expect stellar service and superior quality food. read more

Hands down best breakfast in the area. Always a pleasant experience to have an early breakfast on their terrasse. Service has always been good; coffee and water is refilled often and food comes quickly enough. I have tried most of the stuff on their breakfast menu (omelettes, crepes, french toast, eggs Benedict, traditional bacon-and-eggs) and have not yet been disappointed! Spoiler alert! A great view does not make a great restaurant. Let's start at the beginning. My wife's martini arrived with bugs floating on the surface. The waiter took out his glasses and confirmed the infestation and wandered off to get a fresh one(drink not bug). The carbonara was revolting (my 7 year old, who knows a thing or two about Italian food wouldn't touch it). My sole was served with a sauce straight out of a package. Soup was tepid and the white wine barely chilled. If you're looking for authentic well prepared Italian food for dinner, do not be seduced by the lovely location. The food is shoddy,the wait staff is inexperienced and awkward and the less said of the bartender the better. We were turned on to Crescendo by their high profile participation in this years Taste of the Nation. One of the worst dining out experiences of my life. The 1 star is for the view. read more

Great breakfast place. Staff is very attentive and courteous, and the service itself is very quick to come take your order and bring your food. Le Geant is a delicious dish if you're very hungry, comes with really good potatoes and the bacon is perfectly cooked. What happened? This was our fourth visit because we liked it so much. Not this time. We went on Sunday for brunch and surprisingly, it was very noisy and the service was left to be desired even though the restaurant was not packed full like it usually is. We both ordered omelettes, one veggie and one Western. Did you ever hear of overcooked eggs? That's what it was. When you try to cut into the omelette and it falls apart in small pieces, there's something VERY wrong. Mine had ham in it and the omelette was so overcooked that the pieces of ham were too hard to chew. Unfortunately for them, this is our last time. Dommage. read more

First of all i was hoping for a romantiky evening with my wife before i left for Toronto for two weeks... The waiter was very nice but a wee bit clumsy...the view was spectacular. The food was tasteless we got there at 730 and they had already already.run out of mussels and the place was empty. Calamari was slightly greasy and over cooked. Who the hell gives pasta sauce with bread. My wife's pasta was bland and tasteless even tough it supposedly had anchovies and according to the chef was supposed to be drowned in oil. My seafood pasta had yesterdays over cooked squid bits and cut up shrimp that was equally over cooked and i am pretty sure made to look like mussels. Of the four types i was supposed to get i got two. Suffice to say even the view is not worth it cuz i could get the same one for free just by walking in front of it like i do everyday....Run from this place. At the price they ask for you are better off going to any Giorgios or Pacini or any other italian restaurant run by people who are not italian. read more
