Alfredo with Shrimp
Warren K.

I come to the Berkeley Crepevine a couple times a year and they always make sure that you're full by the end of the meal. Whether it's their burgers, sandwiches, or pasta, your portion sizes will always be really good and more than enough, sometimes even with leftovers. I ordered the Alfredo pasta and unfortunately, you have to pay to add meat such as chicken or shrimp for all of their pasta dishes, which made it come out to an upwards of $25. Overall, I'm definitely enjoy myself everytime I come here and I would give it a solid 3.4 stars, consistent but nothing too special.

Shakshuka

The restaurant is in a great location, clean and has all the vibes. Love they also have outdoor seating. The menu offers many choices and they have specials. The service is meh. Not friendly or helpful. Kinda felt rushed a bit as you order at the cash register and not the table. Yet there was not a line so... why? The food was ok. We have been twice now and felt the same each time. We ordered two specials. The squash soup, served medium warm, and the shakshuka. My husband said the shakshuka was way too sour and the tomatoes were not fresh. I also ordered a chai latte, extra hot, which also came out medium warm. Perhaps we just order the wrong things Squash soup $6.95 ( great portion, but came spilled) Shakshuka $17.95

Sunset Sweet Crepe

I love the atmosphere of this restaurant, especially on a bright sunny morning. It definitely brings good energy and great vibes for brunch. The service was quick and easy; you order your food first and then choose a seat. They specialize, of course, in a variety of crepes. This is my first time having crepes that are non-dessert. I ordered the Florentine, which is a vegetarian option consisting of spinach, mushroom, onions and cheese. It was a bit underwhelming and lacked flavor. It's a lot better if this was an omelette. They have plenty of other savory crepes, so I recommend trying the others. For the sweet crepes, I ordered the sunset crepe and it was pretty decent - nothing too special. It has the flavors of what you'd expect from a crepe-nutella-fruit combination. I love the addition of the ice cream.

They did a good job on the over medium eggs, and I appreciate the big slab of ham!

I often come back to Crepevine because they're friendly and competent, and the food is fairly priced.

I'm honestly a little saddened by the rating! I had such a pleasant experience. The waiters were attentive and sweet, the portion sizes for the crepes were huge, and the purple stack was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. The outside seating is so cute as well! Definitely would recommend.

banana biscoff crepe

the vibes of this place are super super cutesy! you first stand in line, place your order, and then bring a table number to whatever table you pick! usually places like this have everything self serve, but i like how the staff constantly comes around and checks on you! i ended up ordering the new orleans benedict and sharing one of the fall specials, the banana biscoff crepe. the benedict was sooo yummy and the crab cake honestly tasted fresh! i do wish the sauce was a little spicier, but other than that it was great! the crepe was the perfectttt dessert to end it! parts of it were a little crunchy, but the sauce helped make it a little softer. the only negative i have from my experience today was the coffee. both my friend and i ordered one of their special coffees and a iced honey latte. we literally only took one sip and could not finish the rest of it. i don't know what we drank, but it definitely was not good coffee, BUT thankfully we had a pitcher of the guava cooler which was super fruity and refreshing!

First time here There is indoor and outdoor seating available A Television show the football game (no noise) And a good music selection playing (Sza) So ambiance is pretty chill You walk in and order your food at the counter and they bring your food to the table Staff is friendly Food is good/large portions Prices are reasonable I would definitely consider coming back

Kids Mini Pancakes (they were eaten much more by the time we left)

I love this location. Ordered the Tuscany savory crepe since I can't eat chicken eggs. My spouse surprised me by also getting a savory option, the Philly (we're from Philly lol). My kiddo who is VERY PICKY is enjoying the mini pancakes which they shaped into a mouse and skipped the powdered sugar (he won't eat pancakes with toppings and they also put the butter in a side dish). I wanted to sit outside and the first table was right in the sun, not acceptable for my pale partner. They were very amenable and offered us shaded options right away. The service was amazing today. They even gave us mini complimentary blueberry muffins which were SO GOOD? Couldn't get a photo of our food since my spouse scarfed his down and I had to juggle 6 year old demands while trying to eat my still warm food. Happy to say it was a super pleasant experience (and I did get to relax and eat in peace once they started reading together).

First time here an d I had the ALBA crepe. I loved it. The customer service was on point. Easy to find restaurant due to the location. Very good vibe inside the restaurant. Be back for more.

NOLA Benedict: Spicy cajun hollandaise, crab cakes
Lili M.

I've frequented Crepevine for a few years now and I swear, each year, it gets better and better. It is located in a pretty cute area. There is street parking available in front and a parking lot of a plaza near by. You first order in line and then they help you find a table or seat somewhere. You take a number and they bring the food and drinks out to you. My favorite thing to get here is the New Orleans Benedict - topped with spicy cajun hollandaise and crab cakes in lieu of ham. IT IS SO DELICIOUS. A big plus is that there is a kids menu available. My son, of course, got the chicken tenders and fries and of course I HAD to try it to make sure it was okay for him to eat (;D) and it was SO crispy and good. I might just get that for myself to go next time. Besides the crepes, we also like to get the Chicken Shawarma plate which comes with a side caesar salad. So flavorful and delicious. This is a good place to bring family members on a nice Sunday or out of towners.

The staff are accommodating I appreciate all of their hard work as the place was extremely busy. The line around this place was crazy. We were sitting outside and where we sat was directly next to the ongoing loud line. Was very overwhelming and overstimulating. The New Orleans Benedict my friend and I got had a very strange sour taste, we couldn't finish it unfortunately and we didn't want to be rude and send it back. Coffee was underwhelming, complimentary muffins are a nice touch, the cornbread,...skip that. I tried one piece and didn't attempt to touch it again. The potatoes were amazing, if you visit do get that ! I'm sure if I ordered other things I could give this place a higher rating but I had to be honest.

Free Muffins!

if you want a meal that can fill you up/be split into 2 portions, come here!!! Food: Shawarma and all their crepes are incredible. Get the Shawarma and midnight crepe! Also, the blue berry muffins were given to us for free as appetizers! (Also presentation on the food was amazing!') Service: you order at the front, then they bring it to you. I find this so much easier and less of a hassle. Workers were nice too! Ambiance: both indoor and outdoor seating, spacious, and amazing to sit.

Strawberry Matcha Latte
Lily C.

The first time I visited Crepevine, the New Orleans Benedict impressed me so much, I kept thinking about it for weeks. From the dressing to the runny egg underneath - it was one of the most memorable breakfast dishes I've ever tried. So I went again, this time with my friends, but ordered it with garlic fries. Though I liked both sides, I thought that the potatoes suited the overall dish best - the garlicky, saltiness of the fries clashes with the dressing. Additionally, Crepevine was hosting a limited spring menu during this time, which included various dishes, coffee times, and beverage coolers. As a matcha lover, I had to try the strawberry matcha latte... and wasn't disappointed! Granted, it wasn't particularly mind-blowing and included too much whipped cream for my liking, but I still really enjoyed it. The strawberry syrup did taste artificial to me though - overall, still worth the try. Love Crepevine, will always remain a classic breakfast spot for me!

The menu shows the Pioneer fresh oven baked turkey breast. That's a lie.

Had a very nice breakfast indoors. Very widely spaced seating. The only unpleasantness was having the tv on with the news playing. Ick.

I think it might've been a bit undercooked... I don't think I would try another one unfortunately. I think I would also stick with the sweet bakery items moving forward. I also ordered a lychee strawberry matcha milk tea (with the oat milk option) and I was pretty happy with that purchase. Overall, I wouldn't dock them more than a star for the underwhelming pastry because most of the others are excellent. It might just be that savory isn't their thing...

Their menu showed items like waffles and croissant French toast, which sounded really promising. I decided to try the croissant French toast and really wanted to like it. The croissant itself had potential, but the egg mixture was very heavy and lacked some of the warm flavors you typically expect in French toast, like cinnamon or vanilla. Even with the berries and syrup, it still leaned very egg-forward. I also ordered a side of bacon for some extra protein, and that was actually cooked really well. For drinks, I tried the strawberry latte with the vanilla bean soft top. I initially expected more of a coffee-forward drink, but it was much sweeter and reminded me more of an elevated strawberry milk. The space itself is cute and gives more of a social, aesthetic hangout vibe than a traditional brunch spot. Parking can also be a bit tricky. There's free parking in the Trader Joe's garage nearby, but it's unclear whether parking there while dining at the café is allowed. Overall, I liked the concept and atmosphere more than the actual food during this visit.

Cold, military-style, and deeply disappointing farewell from Standard Fare…read more.. My wife and I have been going to Standard Fare for over a year. The food was always good, but the service was never particularly warm--polite, efficient, and impersonal, like a well-drilled operation. Today we took a twenty-minute ride with our six-week-old baby for one last visit before they close for good. We arrived before their advertised closing time, yet were coldly denied service. There was no one waiting behind us, but we were met with an inflexible, robotic "sorry, we're closed." No one was overtly rude, but the interaction felt rigid and mechanical, as if following procedure mattered more than acknowledging the people standing in front of them. It would not have taken much effort to accept one last order from a loyal couple with a newborn--especially since nobody else was waiting behind us. In the end, Standard Fare is closing exactly as it operated: precise, rigid, and lacking warmth. Hopefully the next business in this location will treat its customers with a bit more empathy.

It's also one of those places that makes you want to stay. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and generous. Every time I come here, I tell myself I'll pace myself... and every time I fail because it's just that good. The burgers are loaded and perfectly balanced, the fries are always crisp (never soggy, which is rare), and everything tastes high-quality and made to order. You have to try the chicken and waffles. The waffle batter tastes homemade and the butter takes it to another level... it's one of those dishes you keep thinking about after. I'll even DoorDash it all the way to Jingletown. The patio setup is really well done... there's a mix of larger tables for groups and higher bar-style seating for smaller hangs. The wooden furniture and cushioned benches make it comfortable, and they've got heaters for colder days and umbrellas when it's sunny, so you can usually pick your ideal spot. You order at the window and then just hang out while you wait... it's a relaxed flow and the food comes out pretty quickly. The staff are always kind and welcoming, and the whole place has a relaxed, homey vibe with really good music. Highly recommend... just come hungry.

Cali Alley is one of those places I have looked at thousands of times when trying to figure out…read morewhat to order on Door Dash or Uber Eats. The food always looked really good, but for whatever reason I always ended up ordering from somewhere else. Well, I finally did it. I finally ordered from Cali Alley, and all I have to say is, why did I wait so darn long? Door Dash was having a 2-for-1 deal on the Cali Alley Burger, so I ordered one of those (and got another for free) , as well as on the small mac and cheese, so I ended up with two of those as well. I got fries as he side for the burgers and saved the second burger and mac and cheese for the next day. I also bought a small side of veggie fried rice for lunch later in the week. OK, let's start with the fries ... wow. Super crispy. Don't know what they do to them, but I think I almost ate all the fries that came with one of the burgers before I even touched the burger. The fries seemed to have a coating like some fries do to make them extra crispy on the outside. Whatever it was, it made them so good, I couldn't stop eating them. I was almost too full for the burger. But who are we kidding? If there is one thing I am good at, it is eating more than I should. The burger, which is described on Door Dash as "char grilled, fresh ground brisket and short rib burger, served on a toasted brioche fun with crisp lettuce, tomato onion marmalade and garlic aioli" was thick and incredibly flavorful. I couldn't stop eating that, either. It was that good. I ordered it medium, and it was pretty pink, but it was sooooooo flavorful, and all the toppings worked well together. I didn't get any cheese on it because I wanted to try to burger by itself and not mask it with cheese. I might try adding cheese next time, but honestly the burger is so good, I almost wouldn't want to cover up its flavor with cheese. Oh, I almost forgot. When you order on Door Dash, you can opt to have them include a small side of their chocolate-chipotle bbq sauce, and I highly recommend that you get it. It's a really interesting flavor and is good for dipping the fries in. I didn't try putting it on the burger, but that might be good, too. The mac and cheese was OK. It's important to note that I enjoyed the flavor but it is more of an eggy consistency than a saucy mac and cheese if that makes sense. It has a nice kick of black pepper, which I liked, though. The vegetarian fried rice was also fine but could have used a little salt. All that to say, don't be like me and procrastinate, get the Cali Alley Burger and fries ASAP.
