First time coming to crepevine , I always passed by this restaurant and have heard really good things about it so today I decided to come and try it out. I ordered a club sandwich from here and when I got back to work ... It unfortunately mad me sick. When I called to let them know the "supervisor " said I was a liar and what I was telling him didn't make sense as if he was a doctor and not an employee at a RESTAURANT . I was so upset I decided to walk back down there to speak to someone in person. Of course the "supervisor " wasn't around so a nice lady Amal had helped me out. I'm giving this restaurant one star because of Amal's wonderful customer service. I'm not too sure if I will come back to this establishment , but if I do it would certainly be because of her. read more

We absolutely loved this place! We didn't mind ordering at the counter and finding our own seats - we thought it was more convenient that way. We got the San Francisco crepe, which had smoked salmon in it, and the Mazatlan omelette, which had chorizos and avocados in it. We enjoyed both dishes, and the serving sizes were large. The fries and home fries were delicious, as well as the salad. The salmon was so good, and they gave us a ton of it in the crepe! The prices are fair for what you get, and the service was fast. My sons like this place, but they are going to have to get their father to take them there next time. When I ordered, the first thing out of my mouth was, "I'm a vegan." I asked for the tofu scramble, and she asked whether I wanted eggs in it. No. I don't. Why is there a tofu scramble with eggs in it, anyway? So I get the tofu scramble, and I should have eyed it carefully, but I was thinking about the butter they put on my plate, and the tomato they put in my son's crepe after he asked for no tomato. Can we unroll the crepe and take it out? Meanwhile I raise the fork to my mouth, and what is that in there? I always tell my sons not to spit out food, but I spit. It's egg. Usually Crepevine is consistently good. You can count on the crepes, salads, and scrambles being fresh and tasty. The servers are always nice. And the portions are always large. The Kyoto: tofu, spinach, and mushrooms with delicious peanut sauce is my go-to crepe. But imagine my surprise when a recent order was lacking the key peanut sauce. The chef explained that they were all out of peanut sauce, which was a bit confusing. When I asked why didn't they inform the patrons of this, all I received was a shrug of the shoulders. That's it. The lack of customer service was palpable. Unfortunately, this sort of lapse in the kitchen has happened a few times, which is why I'll think twice about going back. read more

3.5 stars? What?? This place deserves at least 4 stars, if only by virtue of the fact that it serves fresh salmon crepes and crab cake "benedictions" with enough calories to sustain you for days. Let's face it. Crepevine is the best backup option, ever. The locale is clean and bright, the menu is absurdly long (with enough variety and flexibility to please everyone) and the wait is nonexistent. This is where you go for brunch when you don't want to go to Denny's for the bajillionth time but you also can't stomach the prices at Chez Panisse Cafe, or the lines at Bette's. It's a solid choice on the Berkeley dining scene, particularly for students on a budget. I always get the SF crepe with melty dill havarti, fresh salmon, capers, red onions, dijon and spinach squeezed with lemon. It's served with a generous side of fresh mixed greens, and crisp, mealy rosemary (fresh rosemary!) potatoes... which makes the plate, as a whole, a total win- where else in the world can you get seafood in the one digit price range? With sides?? However, Crepevine's penchant for slicking everything with a fine coat of oil chucks it solidly into the four star category. If only the cooks would tone it down with the grease & salad dressing... and for that matter, the air conditioning, because it's always flipping freezing in there... I would finally embrace it with a five star review. Maybe. Most importantly though, Crepevine really takes the cake for Awesome with its perfect proximity to Philz. We come here for quick bite from time to time. We thought this will be a great choice before we head down to Lush for gelato! Friendly staff with minimum wait always. Savory crepes are our usual dinner choices. Kyoto & California have voted to be our combined favorite. Mini burger is great for the kids. Don't bother with the sweet potato fries as they are kind of burned (not to our liking). We are pleased with our dinner AGAIN. Voila 4 stars for the Crepevine team! read more

We have no complaints about the food. However their customer service policies are terrible here. We were a group of six people. Two people arrive first and asked to move the tables to accommodate all six of us. They were not allowed to move the tables. Then we arrived and my husband ordered orange juice in order to wait for the remaining couple. He was told he had to get orange juice take out only and no table service for the beverage. Finally the third couple arrived and we all ordered but by then we were so annoyed by this anti-customer attitude, that we would not recommend the crêpe vine as relaxing pleasant place to go eat. read more

This place makes heavenly gluten free crepes. My wife is allergic to gluten and was able to eat the most magnificent crepes from this place.

I came here with a group of friends from church to hang out. It's pretty spacious, and is a great place for both groups to hang out or individuals to come along and use as a cafe for studying, etc. Service is friendly and attentive, and the crepe selection is pretty varied...everything sounded so good (at least for the sweet crepes, but they have a huge selection of savory crepes too). I got and shared the tri-berry crepe with nutella, and it was delicious. Nice selection of drinks too...the mimosa is pretty good. :) Just a note on how things seem to work here: You get seated first, but to order, you go up to the counter to order and pay. It's nice that way so you don't have to figure out who owes what in the end...everyone orders individually and has their own tab. Also, they accept AmEx. :D read more

This is my favorite crepe restaurant in Berkeley! Each meal crepe has a cultural theme to it - Italian, Californian, Asian, Indian, and many more! I love the variety and creativity that goes into each crepe. The portions are very large - each plate comes with a huge helping of potatoes and salad on the side (as the pictures show). A little on the pricier end, but food was alright. I tried a Savory Crepe and it came with Salad and Grilled Potatoes. Pretty large portions. The crepe was pretty good, but just overpriced in my opinion. The service was also alright, but they kept forgetting to refill our water.. I liked the clean interior, cafe-ish vibe, and the large windows. I think this place would make for a nice study spot with maybe a light snack or drink, but I wouldn't come for a meal. This is a chain and their food is what you expect from a chain. It's not fantastic, but it does its job. Service: Their service is on point. They were on point about refilling my ice tea. Even when I finished my food and just sat there to study, they still came by to check up on refilling my tea. Can't beat that! Food: I had their Fish Po'Boy and it was certainly tasty. Their fries are actually really good. You get to choose whether you want it grilled or fried and I chose fried. There's not much to complain about. Food Was above average. I ordered the Caroline pulled pork sandwich. My girlfriend got the crepes. The fries with the pulled pork were delicious. The pulled pork sandwich was good. The crepes weren't so good. They were thick. I prefer the thinner kind. Service Was prompt and professional. I did feel rushed when they cleared the table before we left the table. The waitress 'snatched' the tip from the table. It would be nice if they were a little more professional about it Personally One good thing about for me and my gf is that it is a block away from our house. Tried it out for the first time. Food was good, slightly pricey. Food: I ordered the Milano crepe, it was good, but I was a little disappointed because it's supposed to have mozzarella cheese, but I didn't see or taste any. It was mostly cottage cheese, which made it taste kind of cheap. I also ordered the tri-berry crepe and that was good. I would probably come back only for the desert crepe (about $8). Service: Cashier was kind of awkward and cold. He was sort of bro-ish. I also saw him goggling at every girl that walked in.. it was creepy. He didn't give us any water nor did he ask how we wanted our meals. However, the owner (?) was friendly and the girl (middle-eastern looking) was very nice. I'm disappointed to have to leave a 2-Star review for Crepevine. My first experience at Crepevine was years ago in SF before I moved to the Bay Area and I was very excited to move here and have one in my neighborhood. Since living here for 1.5 years, I've been to this location twice. The first time I ordered the Philly cheesesteak crepe to-go. It was just ok. The potatoes were a bit overcooked and I ate my food wondering what I had loved about it so much the first time (since I ordered the same thing I had remembered from years ago). My second time visiting was a few weekends ago. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with crab cakes. Maybe called the New Orleans or something like that. The eggs came out medium boiled. In my opinion, the key to a good eggs benny is having the runny egg yolks that soak into the English muffin and mix well with the hollandaise. I was gravely disappointed with the overcooked eggs. I ended up at this place by accident but did not regret the unexpected occasion. The place looks just as nice on the inside as it does outside, which is always a plus. The menu was huge but since the alcoholic beverages were not available yet I settled for a cup of coffee. Our food was OK, but the side salad and potatoes made it worth the money for sure. The coffee wasn't very tasty; I didn't care for their roast. The menu was so enticing I wanted to eat more than what I came for but I guess it'll just have to wait until the next time. I'd actually give this place 3 1/2 stars for my experience but there's just so much to choose from that I bet there are some really tasty meals to grub on. read more

Once upon a time there was a smallish local restaurant chain that served generally tasty food that was generally healthy at generally good prices with generally good service from generally cheery staff. People, especially those that lived nearby to the restaurants, liked to go. Over the years the smallish chain expanded until it was biggish. The quality control, both for food and staff, started slipping. The food was less tasty, the ingredients less healthy (and more fatty), but the prices remained reasonable. However, the restaurants in the chain started to remind people of even bigger chains like Olive Garden that have big plates of non-healthy, not very tasty food. Communication between cashiers, servers, and cooks started slipping at the now biggish chain, and so did the overall quality of service. There were long waits for orders, servers showed up at the table asking what people had actually ordered, simple orders had lots of mistakes. Food showed up bland and cold. And so, people started looking for new smallish local restaurant chains (and individual restaurants) to go to. read more

My partner and I come here regularly. It's one of our favorite weekend hangouts. The staff is very friendly and takes all the right covid-19 safety precautions. Outdoor seating feels so delightful surrounded by plants. The food is fresh and delicious. It's so easy to get gluten-free crepes, waffles, and pancakes. Quite a lifesaver when wanting a tasty meal without fear of getting glutened. Portions are large so I usually take half of the meal home - definitely worth the money! read more

I heart this place. They serve breakfast all day which is handy when you're like me and can't really mobilize before 1pm on weekends for brunch. It's in the quieter area of Berkeley and sports outdoor tables, which is lovely for a relaxing breakfast. The salmon scramble is delicious and their coffee is awesome. Crepevine's menu is so extensive it appears they haven't decided what type of restaurant to be, contrary to what the name may suggest. This being said they have great hours (practically never closed), there are a few items that are quite good and with these portions you will never leave hungry. (the plates arrive piled like an upscale mobile home, double-wide, double-high.) I recommend the crepevine club which is a great version of a turkey club with grilled chicken substituted for the deli meat, (nice touch), bacon is crisp and the bread was fresh. I think the side of potatoes that they insist on including with almost every single dish on the menu are a little bland and detract more than they add in most cases. Is it really necessary to have a big pile of home fries with a crepe? All of this said the real treat here are surprisingly the muffins. Ask one of the nice waitstaff if it would be possible to grill one of the muffins. It will come out split nicely in half and toasted to perfection. With butter and jam and one of their bottomless cups of coffee its probably the best way you can go at crepevine. If this place only served the grilled muffin and improved their coffee it could easily get 5 stars, unfortunately that will never happen. read more

OK, the menu here is out of control. Somebody went to art school and had way too much with it. To quote my friend "My brain froze when I looked at it, so just order me whatever you're getting." It is ridiculous. But nevermind that as Crepevine is divine! Hey, that rhymes! We ended up here accidentally after searching for a restaurant that no longer exists apparently and were drawn to its trendy logo lettering and curbside appeal. A few of us ordered sandwiches, others opted for lunch crepes alongside my selection of salmon and spinach -- "The San Francisco" with a side of lemonade. The food came quickly and I literally hoofed it. The potatoes seemed intentionally undercooked and were a little more stiff than I prefer, but the salad and everything else was fresh and tasty as it could be. HUGE PORTIONS TOO! Getting in and out is also fast: You grab a number and they bring you food and drinks to the table and also periodically circle around to keep your drinks full and table clean. Apparently the place used to be a Starbucks and still carries that kind of warmth. I was too stuffed to try the desserts but I was eating them with my eyes as they waltzed past me to other tables. They have 3 locations so I'll surely do that next time. The price is right, too: For about $12 a person you can eat like a king. A fat king. read more

All of the coffee shops seem to roll up and close shop at 8am. What about after dinner coffee? Luckily Crepevine was open and we were able to get lattes, tea, hot chocolate. My latte was huge and delicious. The staff was efficient and the atmosphere relaxed. We sat visiting with dear friends, who were visiting from out of town, and never felt pressured to get out. This is a restaurant where you order and pay for your food at the register, and they give you a number, and you can just choose a table to sit. Service was still decent. The waitress came by and always promptly refilled out waters. I got the New Orleans, which is a crab cake benedict. The portion was pretty big, about 2x the size of a regular benedict. It was pretty good, but just too much food for me. I also got coffee at the Philz next door and brought it over, which everyone else did, and they seemed ok with it. I've had the Florentine, Santorini, and Tri-Berry crepes here. The portions are pretty hefty (at least for me since I can't eat a lot) and the food comes pretty fast. You order at the counter and then sit down with a number sign to await your food. More a casual place, so if you want waiter service this isn't the place for you. Food is well-cooked, the Florentine was pretty flavorful and the sweet crepes came with a little ice cream which was nice.
