I landed late last night and the hubby and I wanted a quick bite to eat. This was near our hotel and the reviews looked pretty good (I was pumped to see a good review from yelp friend Kathleen M.) The establishment was nice and clean, dimly lit, and when we arrived around 9 (an hour before closing) farely empty. We opted for the combo where you get one savory crepe, one sweet crepe, and a drink. The price was around $13...few dollars more than the 2007 price that was under $10 but still a great deal. The crepes were huge and stuffed with yumminess. I had the caesar and honestly didn't even finish it (which should make you assume I boxed up my sweet crepe) Anyhoot, both crepes were so good! Savory is definitely the word to describe it. They make the crepes right in front of you after you order so they are fresh, hot, and soft with just the right amount of crispness around the edges. The cheese is ooey gooey goodness on top of those juicy meats inside. Again, it was huge so I didn't even finish but trust me I tried. My savory crepe that I only took a bite of to try while fresh had Nutella, strawberries, and bananas. It was delicious as well. It was even decent when I ate it later but would definitely wanna stick with eating it fresh if possible. Drinks here are just can sodas by the way. This place was very cute! We came here super late at night for desserts after dinner and it was really good. I only wanted something simple so I ended up getting the Nutella crepe. The crepe was a lil crispy on the edges and super soft for the rest of it. There was also plenty of Nutella in the crepe itself. It tasted really good and super warm. I think the only set back was struggling eating it with a spoon but it got a lot better when the it cooled a little and I could hold it using the paper. The crepes here are great, they make them from batter right in front of you. Come with friends bc the combo definitely helps lower the price. My go to is the strawberry and white chocolate, an awesome simple dessert crepe. Even when the line was to the door crepes were ready within 5 minutes of ordering. Ambiance is chill if a little boring most of the time, but late nights on the weekends they'll turn the music up and it's a completely different vibe. Meh. My daughter and I tried this place on vacation because we love crepes and can't get them in our hometown. We both got the combos. I had the Dr. J and the Angel; she had the Mikey and the Obama. The savory crepes were okay. Not bad, but not great at all. They just didn't seem to be all that flavorful, and the crepes were a little chewy and underdone. The sweet crepes tasted good and the fillings seemed fresh, but the crepes were even chewier and doughier than the savory crepes. Crepeaway, fitting name since I can't keep these crepes away from my mouth. Wow these are good. The Dino is the best Savory and the Donald is the best sweet. Be careful, it might get expensive because they are so good you'll keep coming back. Before you know it, a few months have passed and you visited this establishment over 50 times, and you realize you could have spent that money on a new car or an engagement ring. But no, you keep coming back, and it never gets old. It. Never. Gets. Old. After almost a year Crepeaway really starts to take a dent into your finances, rent is late, and your phone gets shut off. Still thinking about the crepe I ate last night at crepe away. This place is amazing for late night crepes. It is open until 4 am on Saturdays so it's a college hot spot on the weekends. I had the Donald crepe which was white chocolate, strawberries, bananas, and blueberries. They are reasonable priced and come out very quickly. You can tell they are pros at this as they make the crepe not too thin or thick. The white chocolate was just beautiful and not too sweet. It was the perfect consistency and a nice change from Nutella. I could have probably just had a cup of that white chocolate. The crepe itself was perfect with the right balance of crispy and soft. My friends had the Obama crepe which was filled with strawberries, blueberries, and bananas and Nutella. The only annoying thing is everything does seep down to the bottom because they serve it in a cone. I'm also giving it a 5 stars because of the atmosphere. They turn up the music and really make the place bumpin. People were even dancing on tables at times. It really was the most fun I have ever had while eating a crepe. I stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon since we were craving a warm crepe in the cold, windy weather. Absolutely no one was there when we walked in. I ordered the Mandy crepe which consisted of strawberries, powdered sugar and melted butter. My crepe was okay. It was a little thicker than I wanted it, so it was slightly doughy. Also, the warmness of my crepe caused my strawberries to start melting, so about half of the bottom-side of my crepe was soaked in strawberry juices. It was too soggy to eat. Crepeaway is such a fun spot which makes it the perfect addition to a night out in DC. A friend recommended it to me with the disclaimer that it usually turns into a dance party in the post-bar hours of the night, and I was immediately sold. And sure enough, the first thing I saw when I walked in was a group of girls singing and dancing on the tables while they ate crepes! The staff keeps an upbeat playlist going and is extremely friendly. I order "the Carlyn" (Oreos, marshmallows, and Nutella) and of course had to add peanut butter to it. Nothing to write home about. Went here because of their late night dessert and thought crepes at 1 am would be incredible. However, I was sadly disappointed by both the service as well as the menu options. 1) first noted issue was the cleanliness of the establishment. There was no one else in the place and yet the iPad, crepe cooker and behind the counter were all filthy. 2) secondly, one would hope that a crepe establishment would have other than nutella as a sweet sauce option. But alas this was not the case and a member in my party had but one sweet option due to a nut allergy. While I by no means believe that every dietary restriction should have to be catered to but a nut allergy is quite common and a lack of such accommodation was not notated on the online information available. If the white chocolate had not been out there may have been a few more options but the crude sign stating such outage looked to be quite old. 3) the third and most pertinent noted issue I found with this establishment was the customer service. Upon politely asking if there was any chocolate syrup which I may obtain in a small container to go(for and understandable $1 upcharge) i was met by a woman (to be clearly pregnant and unhappy) who condescendingly stated that she simply had no idea what I was asking. Upon clarification of a seeking a chocolate syrup-like substance, she was prompt and curt to assert that she couldn't do that because "they don't do that here". This, among other curt and unpleasant things that could be notated led to quite a sour taste for this establishment. 4) the forth notation of issue is the quality of product in which I recieved. Of the 3 differing items ordered, not one was cooked to an acceptable level of completion and could be compared to a thin layer of underdone pancake batter. Simply sad as, following such poor customer service, the employee clearly was in a rush to push me as a customer out of the store as I was a clear inconvenience to her, based on her demeanor and verbalized curtness. To be honest I had alot of hope for this establishment and I am severely disappointed in what I saw. I do not feel this establishment wouldve passed local cleanliness standards nor would the owner of the establishment appreciate the consistent condescending attitude displayed by the one particular employee or the quality of product produced. read more

this place is gem in DC it sets apart from the baseless posers that claim to make crepes. They have great crepes nothing complicated just really good. So good! Had the strawberry, nutella, and oreo crepe. The first bite I was like "I can die happy now." It was one of those moments that you fall in love so fast and your scared of it ending!
