    Crêpe Hut @ Alvarium!
    Monika O.

Wanted to do something a little different for dinner tonight so we looked up to see what food truck was at Alvarium and saw that it was Crêpe Hut was there, so we headed over. I got the BBQ pulled pork savory crepe and it was awesome! It was super flavorful! It was A LOT of meat though, and only a little side of coleslaw, so you may wanna be in a meat mood for this one. I really look forward to trying some sweet crepes one day soon!

This food truck was absolutely worth waiting in line in the arctic cold, so delicious and literally a whole meal in one crepe. We had the pulled pork and the roast beef as our savory options and also got a jam crepe and a dulce de leche crepe for dessert. They were all SO GOOD. If you see this truck definitely give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Wow was not expecting such a delicious crepe! Got the spontaneously at a Winery and was pleasantly surprised! The savory Turkey and swish crepe was so good I can't wait to try one of their sweet crepes next time!

I've ordered the tomato basil and the banana nutella crepes. I am more a fan of sweet crepes versus savory crepes. Maybe someone else can review how their savory crepes compare. The portion sizes for the savory are not enough for me for a lunch time meal. My most recent one, the tomato basil, the water from the veggies turned the crepe soggy. I would avoid this one in the future. The But all of this can be overlooked for satisfying sweet crepe with banana and nutella. He loads it on and you are in gooey, chocolate, hazelnut heaven. It is almost too rich to eat on a workday afternoon. The prices are moderate in the $7-$8 range as you would expect for a food truck-sorry hut. If you are looking for something different in the food truck scene, then you should give this hut a chance.

Absolutely love these crepes. Choice if sweet or savory. My ultimate favorite is the hummus black olive and cucumber crepe.

On top of that, I asked twice for my plain black iced coffee, and it didn't show up until after I finished eating, which kind of defeated the purpose of ordering it. It genuinely felt like the staff was more focused on chatting with each other than taking care of customers. The vibe from the employees was also not great. When I mentioned I was vegetarian, I got a reaction that felt really judgmental and dismissive, which made me uncomfortable. When I asked for the Wi-Fi, I got hit with a snarky, "Do you not see the sign?" while they pointed at something completely hidden. The whole thing came off as really passive-aggressive. Overall, the service felt rude and unwelcoming, the food was cold, and the drink situation was just annoying. I left feeling like I had spent money just to be treated poorly. I've actually given this place a few chances, because I do like the aesthetics, but the food and service are just not good. The food is bland, and I don't feel like paying $20 for something that tastes like cardboard. ALSO I ordered a kale salad and the kale wasn't even massaged. It was just straight up kale dressing and a few pumpkin seeds. This was $17 by the way.

Most recently my husband and I split a turkey club crepe, French onion crepe and seasonal strawberry rhubarb crepe. All brilliant. 2 years ago when we came through we had the French toast breakfast crepe (which included eggs and bacon inside it) which I still think about because it was delicious, but so confusing that those flavors were so good together. The little salad given with the lunch crepes is appreciated too. This spot is usually pretty busy. You order at the counter, take a number and sit. They have a fridge of tap water carafes you can grab for your table and they will bring the kitchen items out to you. Sometimes there's an in shop singer. It's a nice space with flowers, art and local interest items as decor. The only uncomfortable moment is it bottlenecks a lot by the order counter and can be crowded there.

Savory crepes are offered Breton style using buckwheat flour. These galettes bretonnes are light and crispy with an earthly toasted flavor, the ideal counterpoint to the fillings that accompany them such as hearty European cheeses, charcuterie, tangy pickles or spicy arugula leaves. Among them, galettes Choupette (fig, arugula, prosciutto, goat cheese), Ractiflette (potato, watercress, Raclette cheese, charcuterie) and Complète Jambon (Gruyère, organic egg, country ham) are super delish and totally worth a try. Sweet crepes, made with whole wheat flour, are the soft fluffy crepes we are more familiar with around here. Personal favorites include the Traditionnelle (butter, sugar), Hugette (pear, dark chocolate, almonds) and the Amour et jalousie (Nutella, banana, strawberry). Lots of beverage options here! The coffee is great, as are their ciders and their freshly squeezed (orange or grapefruit) juices.

They have a pleasant French inspired ambiance, which isn't fancy but very enjoyable. Note that their metal chairs, however, don't invite long stays. Historically, most of my visits here have resulted in some tasty crepes. Today was no exception, other than my Country Breakfast Crepe which was outstanding, the best Crepe I've had at this nifty, out of the way spot. After our 3 mile walk at the beautiful Blackstone Canal, we stopped by this interesting, little restaurant and selected: * Ham, Apricot & Brie Crepe $16.95 * Country Breakfast Crepe with Sausage $16.95 The Ham & Brie Crepe was nicely prepared and tasty. The Country Breakfast Crepe arrived surrounded by a cheese sauce with a sausage patty and perfectly cooked sunny side up egg on top. I think there were mushrooms, diced potato and a tasty sauce inside. Would I order this again? You betcha! Service was prompt, and we enjoyed the last few minutes of the live Jazz Ensemble just before they finished up. I look forward to a return visit.
